Scandinavian Countries Confirm UN Request for Golan Peacekeepers

Following the withdrawal of the Austrian contingent last week, Scandinavian officials acknowledge being asked by the UN to contribute troops to the international peacekeeping force in the Golan Heights, but say they have not yet decided.

Senior Scandinavian officials Thursday confirmed that the United Nations secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, has asked Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark to contribute soldiers to the UN peacekeeping force in the Golan Heights, as reported by Haaretz Wednesday.
