Mauritania formally severs diplomatic ties with Israel
Muslim state expelled Israeli diplomats and closed the embassy last March over Gaza war.

Mauritania, an Islamic nation that straddles black and Arab Africa, has stopped "completely and definitely its diplomatic relations with Israel," Naha Mint Mouknass said in the desert capital Nouakchott.
At one time it was one of only three Arab countries to have full diplomatic relations with Israel, but in March last year Mauritania expelled Israeli representatives and closed the Israeli embassy in Nouakchott. The move came after it froze ties in response to Israel's attacks on Gaza.
More than 1,400 Palestinians, including hundreds of civilians, were killed in that offensive, launched with the declared aim of curbing rocket attacks. Thirteen Israelis were killed.
Israeli aircraft struck two targets in the Gaza Strip on Friday a day after a rocket fired from the Palestinian enclave killed a Thai worker in Israel, the first such attack in more than a year.

Yes, this is not a typo nor a figure of speech, 20% of the population are literally, physically African slaves. Another 20% survives on about one dollar a day. I am sure Mauritanians who were recently taken over by a militant in a coup have nothing to do with this stupid decision, which dates back to last year when the government forced the Israeli embassy there to close.

The only ties the US had with the rascist country of Israel were aid ties, where the US spent trillions of dollars in aid organisations throughout the country. Now the US can keep it`s money and spend it on it`s own education system for once.
They need Israel more than Israel needs them. Good riddance nevertheless!

Please explain, if Israel defeated jordan to control the west bank and also freed and united jerusalem. where were the palestinians at that time and why did they not fight jordan and egypt to have their freedom from those countries

Mauritania's former president extended diplomatic representation with Israel. He was deposed by a military coup. The coup has always been critical of Israel.

Mauritania is such an insignificant country that every now and then creates troubles with Morocco which is slightly less insignificant... But Israel, sooner or later, will face a large scale isolation in the world, just like South Africa did, precisely the same reasons. In the future Israel will be definitely hated more for its inhumane treatment of the Palestinians. So what Israel must do now is to become serious about peace and stop any settlement construction. This is the minimum necessary.

The only beneficiary of the Oslo accords was Israel. For 10 years they were allowed free reign to gobble up more of the west bank double the number of settlers, the land grabs the separation roads etc. But additionally they got diplomatic relations with over 150 countries that believed that Israel was serious about peace. You may not need Mauritania but it is the tip of the iceberg in unwinding the benefits of Oslo for Israel. They lied...just ask Merkel. Israel has excellent relations with Haiti and no doubt will provide it with humanitarian aid to dump its nuclear waste there.
I will worry when an EU nation cuts ties,but as that is not on the cards we can all sleep in peace. Mauritania was obviously paid by a fellow Islamic country to cut ties,I wonder who?
