Man suspected of severely beating wife released to house arrest
Suspect's wife submitted 14 complaints of severe violence; the husband, 69, suspected of threatening murder.
By Roni Singer-Heruti and Haaretz CorrespondentA 69-year-old lawyer from Yehud who is suspected of assaulting his wife, threatening her with murder and slicing their bed into two was released to house arrest on Sunday.
The woman submitted 14 complaints of severe violence on the part of her husband, but his attorney, Neil Simon, says the complaints were motivated by deceit and filed to "take revenge on him."
Despite the complaints, Justice Mordechai Peled decided to release the suspect into house arrest at his daughter's home.
During the hearing, it was revealed that Simon refused to cooperate with police investigators. A police representative also told the court that neighbors heard the woman's screams while the couple's small children were in the house with them.
Earlier Monday, Judge Peled released to house arrest a Ramat Gan resident arrested on suspicion of beating his wife.
