Out of the tens of millions of refugees to have come out of the 1940's the only ones to have a specific UN agency to place them are the arabs. The only refugees to have never been placed or integrated into any other countries are the arabs. The only refugees who count their numbers to include offspring 2-3 generations down the road are the arabs. These tens of millions of refugees did not get any compensation for homes or livelihoods lost, what they did get what citizenship in new countries and the opportunity to earn a living. There is a problem that needs to be addressed, but the question is why has UNRWA failed so miserably in their task. Another question is why has the arab world not given citizenship to these people even after living 2-3 generations in their countries. Why did the arab world put these people into refugee camps instead of integrating them into their societies. Israel forced million Palestinians same way they are forcing Lebanese out of their home. how can you expect Palestinians to make a deal without addressing refugee issue? while i agree that getting back Palestinians in Israel is not realistic, those refugees needs to be compensated by money or by giving them a place to live in palestine equivalent to what is their house worth now. I commend you for standing up for yourself in Lebanon and actually working for peace there. You can count on the Jewish people worldwide being behind people like yourself 100%. The Israeli leadership and its soldiers are guilty of war crimes under international law. Let us hope that when the fighting is over a proper process of international justice is put in place, so that those who have deliberately killed civilians and damaged essential infrastructure with no military use are brought to justice. Indeed it would have been preferable to deal with diplomacy. What about the UN's 1559 resolution and what about UN and lebanese government to apply it? So if nothing happened via diplomacy is it really because Israel did not want to or because there has been no real option? In this case it seems that these old ideas are still valid: 1) conducting a military operation in order to discuss from a strengh position 2) conduction operations so the the pertinent institutions (UN and others) would realize that they kept asleep instead of doing their job and that it is time to do it. You should address your questions to Syria and to Iran. Hizbollah terrorists have been found in Nablus, in the West Bank, and Farsi was heard spoken across the border in Lebanon. The missiles given to Hizbollah are exclusively offensive in nature, and came from Syria and from Iran. The missile that damaged the Israeli warship was a radar guided C-802 missile which is totally beyond the capabilities of a terror group, supposedly local. It is obvious that Iran has been preparing for an offensive against Israel for some time. The threat by Ahmedinejad to wipe Israel off the map was not an idle one. No country has had to fight as often and as hard for sheer survival as Israel. She has been attacked by every single Arab country at one point in her short history, and has had to face mass murder from terror groups. It is totally unacceptable, as a matter of fundamental principle that a terror group be allowed to operate from Lebanese soil for the sole purpose of terrorising Israel.

The Lebanese Army would do better to stick to security details and policing duties. Because what little they have will be destroyed in any conflict with the IDF. The Lebanese Army ( Not to be confused with the "Lebanese Forces" or former SLA) doesn't stand a chance against the IDF. For their own good they should wait until after the IDF mops up the area of all the terrorists.

How will the Lebanese Army fight the ground invasion? will it intersperse its assets among the Hizbollah? Or will it displace the Hizbollah? Or will it send Shi'ite army detachments to join the Hizbollah and keep the other elements in reserve? Will the weakening of Shi'ite elements in the Lebanese military, if committed to oppose an invading force, and if they are seriously decimated, result in the Lebanese goverment being able to establish control if hostilities cease? In the meantime, the Hizbollah hierarchy are getting rich indeed, while their foot soldiers are bearing the consequences of their rash initiatives.

The US will block any attempt at a cease fire until Israel reports that Hizbollah is destroyed (or 50% destroyed depending on pundit).
