Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik (Kadima) is scheduled to meet with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday at his home in the Jordanian capital of Amman.

At their meeting, the two are expected to discuss netotiations for the release of captive Israel Defense Forces soldiers, U.S. President George W. Bush's call for an international Mideast peace conference announced in a major policy speech on Monday, as well as other issues.

Itzik will also meet with Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdelelah Al-Khatib during her visit.

Al-Khatib and his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Aboul Gheit will be visiting Jerusalem on Wednesday for talks with Itzik and the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Their meeting will be held under the committee's new policy to open its doors to all Arab diplomats.

Jordanian Foreign Minister "Al-Khatib and his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Aboul Gheit will be visiting Jerusalem on Wednesday for talks with Itzik and the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Their meeting will be held under the committee's new policy to open its doors to all Arab diplomats." Hmm, interesting. Even though both Jordan and Egypt have stated several times in the past several weeks that they are not remotely interested in subsuming Gaza or the West Bank into their own countries, it seems to me that that is currently the only situation open to so-called Israel, given their ardent desire to keep these two Palestinian areas separate.

"...the two are expected to discuss netotiations (sic) for the release of captive Israel Defense Forces soldiers...." This item on the agenda will take no time at all. One of the zionist soldiers is in Gaza, and the two others are in Lebanon. Quisling Abbas does not control the destiny of any of them. So-called Israel refuses to negotiate with either Hamas or Hez'b Allah who, of course do control this situation. I suppose that the continued non-release of these three could be considered blow-back for so-called Israel's short-sighted policies vis-a-vis Hamas and Hez'b Allah.

Position of the Knesset Speaker who acts by law stand in for the President of the State of Israel is a completely unpolitical position of a person chosen from politica member of the Knesset. This appointment compels to become impartial and apolitical. How Dalia Itzik who handled the position of Acting President apolitically and well has become officially involved in International and PA Israel politics and PA visits / confers with Abu Mazen, the Jordinian Foreign Minister on Jordinian soil! One could understand her intention to visit the World Wonder of Petra but complete no to politics.
