Journalist Ilana Dayan, Channel 2 submit defense in Cpt. R. libel suit
Pursuant to report on Dayan's program, R. was indicted for allegedly 'confirming the kill' of a Gaza girl.
Journalist Ilana Dayan and Channel 2 television franchisee Telad submitted their defense Sunday to a libel suit against them filed by an Israel Defense Forces officer, Captain R.
Pursuant to a report on Dayan's "Fact" program, R. was indicted for allegedly "confirming the kill" of a teenage girl in Gaza, but was acquitted after two key witnesses against him admitted to having lied.
R.'s suit, in the Jerusalem District Court, claimed that parts of Dayan's report were fabricated, but Dayan and Telad insisted Sunday that the report was fair and balanced.
As evidence of this, the defense brief asserted that Dayan had refrained from publishing additional information that would have been damaging to R.
