Jordan's King Abdullah II has been touring South Africa on a Harley Davidson motorcycle for the past week, the Sunday Times of Johannesburg reported.

The king, whose love of fast cars and motorcycles as well as other adventure sports is well known, began his trip in the company of friends and security officials in the southern city of Port Elizabeth.

From there the route led westwards over the winding curves of the Outeniqua Mountains in the direction of Cape Town.

The report said the king had enjoyed local delights, such as rooibos tea, and was generous when tipping local staff.

Abdullah also made a stopover in Gaansbaai (Goose Bay), where he descended in an underwater cage to view great white sharks at close hand.

The trip is nearing its end, the newspaper reported, as the king heads to the United States for a more conventional engagement on Friday, where he will give a speech on the Middle East at Princeton University.
