First of all, they can't confirm that he actually said these things. It's a rumor leak. Second of all, if he did SO WHAT? Lots of people say things about other cultures, so why should he be 'punished'? If he is actually anti-Semitic, then his narrow-mindedness is his own fault and he's not hurting anybody. But to want him to have no job, no friends, no career, and to be publicly shunned is not justice. It is revenge. And it makes you just as bad as any anti-Semite out there.

It's inexcusable that someone as Mel Gibson ever said those dreadful words. Jews were slaughtered in the WW2 and after those terror was established the state of Israel where Israelis wanted to live in peace. It wasn't Israel who started a fight. Hanoi, I fear it is you who is off the track. The UN, including the US, has annually reaffirmed that Israel's occupation of the territories it took in the 1967 war is contrary to international law, i.e., illegal. As for who started that war, the facts are equally beyond dispute. No country committed any act of war against Israel, as defined by the UN or any other rational person or entity. No country was even contemplating any such act. Israel seized upon the deployment of elements of the Egyptian army in the Sinai as a pretext for attacking its neighbors pursuant to a war plan it had drawn up years before. The goal was then, as it remains today, to expand Israel's borders to at least those of Mandate Palestine. To make or defend the statement that "Jews are responsible for all wars" is indeed pathological. "Jews" are not responsible for any wars that I'm aware of. Israel, on the other hand, is responsible for quite a few, and to say otherwise is to ignore simple facts.

To me, asking that everyone love a group, either religious, racial, or otherwise ethnic is preposterous. It's a serious question not a comment. Is forgiveness a tenet of Judaism as it is in Christianity? The calls for him to be ostracized by his peers seem McCarthyish to me. He gave a rather heart felt apology. Let him serve his sentence for the arrest and then forgive him. As a Christian I believe Jesus was set to his death by men who were Jews. From people I know that have met him, it would be hard for me to believe that MG is anti-semitic. You have a point, but you see there’s no enforcement mechanism. There has to be a taboo that’s been violated. Anti-Semitism has been made a great big huge taboo. I have no quarrel with that when one is talking about clear deep bigotry, but in practice it’s a charge that’s VERY easily throw around and used to police all criticism of Israel and Jews. As you point out similar criticism of other economically and socially successful groups (and some that aren’t) is full ok. No taboo there. Hizbullah who started this war. 2. 300 Innocent Hindu's Murdered last month in Mumbai, India. 3. The Palestinians-Terror Bombers & Kidnappers 4. Al Qaida- They even kill each other. 5. Bali-Killing Australians in night clubs 6. London-Arab murder of over 100 British in the subway. 13% of Brit-Muslims in favor of more attacks on Christian Brits. I couldn't care less about what Gibson said. He said it while drunk. But everyone says that about the Arabs and Muslims, without even a drop of liquor. The truth is, is that the world leaders in the west, including Australian Prime Minister Howard, and the average Australians who kicked Arab (mostly Lebanese) ass on the Sidney beaches last summer know the truth.

Alcohol is like a truth drug. It lowers one's inhibitions and a person under the influence lets down his guard and is prone to say out loud what he actually believes and keeps inside most of the time.In the ranting of a drunk person lies the deep down belief of that person. In the case of Mel Gibson I am so glad this has happened as I was one of the people who was not to sure about his anti semitim. I now know for sure that he hates my people, and that is his right. But I will never watch anything he has anything to do with again and will boycot him.

A very good actor. Several of his films are favorites of mine. But then I can discern the difference between the actor and the right-wing religious nut. The religious right in America only 'loves' israel and Jews because they consider a nuclear war started by Jews to be the bringer of the second coming of Christ. Aside from that, they sound and act just like Mel, who is one of them.
