J'lem outraged by Netanyahu's admission of IAF strike on Syria
Opposition head is first Israeli official to validate reports of attack, says PM briefed him beforehand.
By Aluf Benn and Mazal Mualem Tags: Israel Syria attackThe political and defense establishments reacted with fury on Thursday to opposition leader MK Benjamin Netanyahu's apparent confirmation of an Israeli operation in Syria two weeks ago.
In what appears to be the first confirmation by a senior politician of foreign media reports, MK Benjamin Netanyahu told Channel One television that he was party to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's decision to attack Syria, an operation on which Israeli officials have remained uncharacteristically silent.
Labor Party secretary-general, Eitan Cabel, said to Army Radio that Netanyahu's words were "an outburst that is severe, stupid and irresponsible."
"Bibi [Netanyahu] is the same Bibi. I haven no idea if it is foolishness, stupidity, the desire to jump on the bandwagon, the desire to be a partner, to steal credit - or something else. It is simply very dangerous. The man simply does not deserve to lead," Cabel told Army Radio.
In an interview with Channel One news anchor Haim Yavin, Netanyahu shocked the Prime Minister's Office when he said that he was briefed on Olmert's decision to carry out an operation in Syria, gave him his backing and congratulated him.
"When the prime minister takes action in important and necessary matters, and generally when the government is doing things for the security of Israel, I give it my endorsement," he said. "I was party to this matter, I must say, from the first minute and I gave it my backing, but it is still too early to discuss this subject."
Yavin then asked Netanyahu, "did you congratulate him [Olmert] on the operation?"
Netanyahu responded, "Personally, yes."
In response to the interview, sources close to Olmert said that "Bibi's slip of the tongue borders national irresponsibility."
An official said Tuesday that "once again Netanyahu couldn't restrain himself and he ran to tell the guys."
Members of the defense establishment also censured Netanyahu, calling his statement "the highest level of irresponsibility."
Politicians from the right, on the other hand, expressed support for Netanyahu and were critical of Olmert.
MK Yuval Steinitz (Likud) said that "Netanyahu's statements were unfortunate ones, but they caused no harm. This is a tempest in a teacup."
MK Gilad Erdan (Likud) said that "it is a pity that the aides of the worst prime minister in the history of the state seek out every opportunity to incite against Netanyahu, and permit themselves to use language that is lowly and contemptible, albeit typical."
"It was actually Olmert who, with his endless chatter, exposed the existence of Israel's nuclear arms. He should stay mum and not create a virtual storm from the support he is receiving from the head of the opposition as part of his responsible and stately conduct," Erdan continued.
MK Effi Eitam (National Religious Party) also came to Netanyahu's defense. "Although I am not a member of Netanyahu's party, I condemn the wrongful way in which the Prime Minister's Office is attacking Netanyahu in a personal and ugly manner in the name of national defense. His comment did not harm Israel's security, and Olmert's aides would do well to examine (Olmert's) judgment and statements during the Second Lebanon War.
The government has remained completely silent on the affair up until now, which has resulted in a slew of speculations by foreign publications.
According to a report in this week's London-based Sunday Times, for example, an Israeli source said the supposed Israel Air Force strike came in the wake of intelligence reports suggesting Syria was been planning a "devastating surprise" for Israel. The report also claimed that Israeli ground forces were involved in the attack on a Syrian installation, which foreign sources described as a nuclear facility.

Dana, 270,000,000 have died in the 1400 year Jihad that IS the history of Islam. And now they're on the offensive again! What was that again about threats to peace? You'd better start shopping for a prayer rug and a burqa. You'll need them. CA
Avi, The United States has NEVER had a policy of no fist use of nuclear weapons. Do your homework before you flap your yap. CA
During the 1980 Presidential campaign, Reagan's people secretly met with the Iranians to tell them to not release the hostages. Reagan said he'd give them a better deal, and he certainly did, as the Iran-Contra hearings showed. Netanyahu must like Reagan so much he's copying him.
Methinks I did "hit a nerve". Where is this "IN" you mention? Orlando!! I do not see myself as a "Jew-basher" but people of your ilk basically have nothing left but to "throw" the "usual" at anyone whom you percieve to have "caught" you in your one-sided views. Views devoid of logic and evidence, views which you repeat ad nauseum, hoping to "convince". Where did you get the idea that I believe it is ok for ANY country to attack another? THIS is precisely what I mean when I say "people of your ILK".- no thinking just mouthing! GOY? Very telling. (Are YOU anti-goyim?) Surely ALL "NON-ISRAELITES" are Non-Persons to you! CAN'T respond is more the case. I commend this Jewish newspaper for knowing the difference.
Looking... Looking... Looking... Nope. No content at all from peter. Just a tedious ad hom attack on me because I have the gall to actually quote the text of the resolution to disprove the claims advanced by Gil. Res 242 says what it means, and it means what it says i.e. its MEANING is to be found in its WORDS, and if the words don't support the "meaning" that you or Gil wish to claim for it then your claim is baseless. I understand what your post shows, peter, even if you don't: you *believe* res 242 says something, yet you refuse to be engaged in examining the text of that resolution. Instead, peter, you ignore the text of 242 altogether, and you attempt to shoot the messenger. Because you *believe*, and so you need not concern yourself with facts, because facts are simply immaterial to faith.
You think you will convince us to "surrunder" or "dislike ourselves", or let the people trying to wipe us off the planet in? NO you are just the run of the mill Jew basher NOTHING to contribute. You ONLY post here because this Jewish paper lets anti semites do so. Don't BOTHER me againI don't converse with people who think it's "o.k." for The mosy barbaric countries on the planet to attack isreal, DEFEND SYRIA? LOL Don't bother me GOY I won't respond to ignorance again. Go get hit by a bus after you leave the pub. You are now a NON PERSON here.
I can only debate with people who like KNOW the subject matter? Syria and Isreal are in "a state of war" NO peace agreement EVER signed. WHATEVER it was that Isreal hit, EVERYONE has shut up abpot is , so obviously, it was something serious. There is a Syria North Korea summit going on- I'm sure more of those you admire.
hello, that is. Some days (nights) are like that. I should know better than to use days off in such manner - but we all need a break, and playing with pods passes the time. I'd like to promise that I'll be gooder and play other games (got those too). What with yom kippur coming up. But shucks - they just had to put up this article by rosenberg, all aipac all day long! what a treat! such favorite! how will I resist? Thanks for checking in - probably also for not jumping into this silly-putty of a frey. Soon I'll figure out what it was really all about.. BTW, had similar experience to yours once at the airport (same one). Was mad and shared the sentiment (surprised?). Not a good idea. They almost didn't let me in, but relented when I promised to leave in 3 days flat, which I did, to much relief. Next time was piece of cake for some reason. Maybe it was the new hair style that did the trick. For truly civilized airport - and civil people - try Helsinki...
a pout and I want to do it again followed by repeated stamping of the feet doesn't alter the fact that you are both so full of it your blue eyes are turning brown. The tortuous twists that you attempt to make to show black is wite and white is black are fine and well for you to delude yourselves. Expecting others to buy into your shtick though is just one more example of the inanity that flows through your grey matter. hehe it's quite a hoot when nada defers to videogame boy for expertise...the blind leading the blind and bragging about the deadend they keep walking into. and they wonder why they are laughingstocks.
France has even issued them stern rhetoric,so whatevr chaos Iran causes,it will backfire on them.
Its all a bit sad, but very true what you say. I visited Lewes in Sussex England - a quaint little town with well kept shops, narrow side streets & some nice pubs. Quintessentially English, you might say. So how is it that this Clickfool spends his waking hours spewing garbage in the way you have described? Its the kind of nonsense you expect to come from low life in deprived parts of the world. Perhaps its all lies & he is from elsewhere?! Whatever, its a real pathetic case. Maybe we should all stop even acknowledging him/her, as suggested in another post??? Anyone got any further thoughts?
A busy "night" you had! A lot of action by you and your responders. Not of the right kind though...Anyway, there is nothing for me to add. Or deduct. I just wanted to say hello and take it easy. Easier, I mean.
so I wake up in the morning to the voices from over sea, Dana in the Sunnyvale Sanitorium, Mark in Houston, Johnboy in Oz and Tosefta on the West Coast of the US of A. All have attempted to paint Syria and Iran out to be marvellous countries. Mark went as far as to insinuate that they are better than Israel because Israel is "hypocritical". In their united thinking, yes thoughts can emanate from the mud and sewers. Syria is okay becuase they unashamedly torture. They are in the torture business, torturing their own as well as taking in folks from other countries to torture as well. Because they do not question torture then it somehow makes its non-hypocritical and thus just fine. As for Hezbollah, the last war served to boost their media profile. By simply poking at Israel's eyes has made them heroes to the likes of these foreigners. Our Neo-Libs have taken to their hearts a group of thugs that represent everything they would consider horrible and facist.
Yeah, I'll second that one! Perhaps Mr./Mrs(??) Clickfool would care to comment on the quality of british politicians whilst he's at it? A Scott as MP, when there is devolution throughout the UK, a strange chap called Dave as opposition leader, & some ancient fossil leading the 'Liberal' party! then of course there's their pathetic army in Iraq, confined to base because of Iranian backed 'militia'. Banking 'trouble' at the Northern Rock... The list goes on & on & on, & he/she has the audacity to call Israel a 'pile of trash', despite never having set foot in the Holy Land!! Its quite good entertainment, although some of the racial slurs need weeding out by Haaretz moderator. What a strange fellow!
When it comes to Res #242 - it's been debated in these forums ad infinitum. Johnboy has been through many of these and is well versed in the subtleties of the text as well as its tortured interpretations by supporters of land acquisition through war, like yourself. I suggest that you take up this debate with him, knowing that he will do justice enough - and then some - to such opinions/interpretations as I may have. You are free of course to appeal your case to others in your camp - like jeff northridge who have mounted indefatiguable defense of the most indefensible, preposturous contentions (such as 'when is an occupation not an occupation', or 'why 242 does not say what it says'). You may do well to avail yourself of such tireless champions of all that is morally damaged and damaging. Sometimes, it's better to play second fiddle to one's betters on issues where they have expertise and experience, than trying to score cheap shots, hoping for new opening from a novice....
Could you point out as to just where Israel's "borders" are? I can't find their "official" coordinates anywhere! If the Israelis don't know where their borders are, how can they make them secure? Just asking. As for RES.242, it only means that which you "decide" it means. People who object are only showing their "hatered of Jews".
like all cheap politians, he'll do anything for a headline--when will Israel have the politians that the nation deserves
""Israel is a pile of trash, led by the world`s worst politicians..." what, fig leaf fall off?" Good morning, Alan. Thanks for the chuckle. Everyone KNOWS I loathe the poisonous State of Israel and its trashy, useless, bent politicians. When did I ever suggest otherwise?
That Israel's soldiers are "now imprisoned deep in the Big Bad Wolf (BBW) territory, in its specially designed torture chambers" without access to Red Cross, Crescent, Riding Hood or anything at all according to world wide accepted Geneva Conventions is a truth you inadvertantly stumbled on. But you have chosen your side without attention to fact or morality and you disregard any cognitive dissonance. Your calloused moral senses don't pay attention to the tug of honesty and truth apparently. As long as it allows you a pleasant word play it's all grist to the mill and GAME OVER.
CJK: "This does not mean that people are convicted for their thoughts. They are convicted for their acts." Administrative Detention. I mentioned it by name, and How Curious It Is that you won't. Do you think that inconvenient truth simply goes away if you don't mention it? CJK: "They are convicted for their acts." They are CONVICTED of NOTHING, Cipora. They are not CONVICTED, full stop. They are DETAINED without the need for the state to prove that any ACT has taken place. Those are facts, Cipora, and you can't simply pretend that they don't exist, because Administrative Detention *DOES* *EXIST*. Here is some homework: http://www.btselem.org/English/Administrative_Detention/ http://www.btselem.org/english/Administrative_Detention/Israeli_Law.asp http://www.btselem.org/english/Administrative_Detention/Occupied_Territories.asp http://www.btselem.org/english/Administrative_Detention/Statistics.asp
PSM: "People are arrested then brought before a military tribunal." And....then, what, PETER? In a CIVILIZED country they need to be charged, or they need to be let go. In a CIVILIZED country they need to then be brought to a fair trial as quickly as is practicable, and either convicted or let free. You *DO* seem to have left those bits out... PSM: "How many of those have you witnessed and recorded?" I'll point you towards the people who do, and do this for a living: http://www.btselem.org/English/Administrative_Detention/
G: "What has Syria done in 1973? (an acquisition of territory by war)" No, because it already HAD sovereignty over that land, and that sovereignty did not change in 1967 just because Israel placed the Golan under belligerent occupation. Syria launched an attack to liberate its own land; a land that was under the belligerent occupation of a nation who was steadfast in its refusal to negotiate, and who was determined to colonize that occupied territory with its own nationals - in total defiance of international law. Wether Syria was right or wrong to launch that attack is debatable, but you can not claim they were attempting to "acquire" territory by war, for the simple reason that the territory they fought for was already theirs.
G: "It makes clear that if a withdrawal will happen it will be negotiated " Res 242: "Affirms that the fulfillment of Charter principles requires the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East which should include the application of both the following principles: (i) Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict; (ii)Termination of all claims or states of belligerency and respect for and acknowledgement of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every State in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force;" It says what it says, Gil; a "just and lasting peace" will only happen if there is: a) Israeli withdrawal AND b) there is recognition and respect for each other's borders. It does *not* say that Israeli withdrawal is CONDITIONAL on the 2nd principle being successfully negotiated.
Well Dana didn?t you read RES 242, from the year 1967 Emphasizing the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war and the need to work for a just and lasting peace in which every State in the area can live in security. (RES 242) What has Syria done in 1973? (an acquisition of territory by war) Can Israel live in security, I think 1973 war has proven Israel has no secure borders, and I wonder what does the resolution 242 say about that, well I know do you!
once again, just can't restrain himself. but listen to his blather about bibi, and see how perfectly well this glove fits... "Look at me, everyone! See how important I am! Come on - you remember me, don`t you? I`m the guy who liked cute malicious slander! I was crap then, but I`ll try harder next time. Come on - give me a break, please! I`m an important chap" - see how I speak about things. and a follow up - oh so very cute and clever... "Israel is a pile of trash, led by the world`s worst politicians..." what, fig leaf fall off?
It is Obvious that BeBe will Be the next PM of Israel,(Judah). Not because of who he is but, he is the only one that has the "confidence" of the "state" of Israel(Judah). The main problem w/ this whole condition is, is that Israel has forgotten the God that gave them the past(and future) Glories to be! It's hard to picture now, in their most impotent condition, but, the TRUE Israel will be extant in the most Glorious of manifestations EVER! Do NOT! Relegate the modern nations of Israel: (the ONLY ONES who fulfill the blessings of (& cursings) of Leviticus and Deuteronomy: The United States & "Great" Britain and the "Jews" into the bin of ignorance. Don't take my, or anyone elses word for it. TEST ALL THINGS! Acts 17:11 They examined the scriptures! Almost none of us that we (you) do these days, the MOST important of days! RSVP Steve
Dana you should learn how to read RES 242 Word for word, and as a whole, You obviously can?t, For if you could you would understand that Israel is not violating it! In RES 242 there are certain words that the Arab world demanded to get in, Words like: THE, ALL, that change the meaning completely It was made clear to those who demanded those words to be placed in the text, That this is not going to happen! RES 242 ? makes it clear that Israel?s security is important It makes clear that if a withdrawal will happen it will be negotiated And Israel?s withdrawal will be only such that will give her security Nowhere has it been said the whole of the Golan is to be returned to Syria! Get a hick Dana learn to read the RES as a whole and not bits and pieces that suit you! And please read the context to (words that do not appear as THAT, or ALL) are not there for a good reason!
There they go AGAIN... Criticise Israeli policies or, for that matter, ANYTHING Israeli and you MUST be a Jew-hater. This single "stupidity" is seen by the majority of thinking people for what it is - a smoke-screen, a means to "distract" from the issues. A method, long-employed by Zionists to "protect their blood-thirsty" agenda from the "daylight". Newsflash for you: It does NOT work anymore, most of us have "lifted the rock" and are aware of the truth. BTW Invasion of Syrian airspace is illegal. Funny how the "norms" of the civilised world are an "alien" concept to Zionists! A little something from Bibi "Israel should have exploited the repression of the demonstrations in China, when world attention focused on that country, to carry out mass expulsions among the Arabs of the territories." Nice Bibi! PS You forgot to mention the holocaust!
About the explanations for Israel's silence on whatever happened in Syria. It may be better to look at what seems probable, as one post suggests, but the options are wide open, really. If it was serious, and everything suggests it was, then Israel may be reluctant to implicate the support teams on this mission--internal and external, including possibly Turkey, Jordan, elements within Syria, and especially the USA. But don't forget the Arab League and other elements of the Arabic world who are similarly silent or watching and waiting. It could have been about nuclear activities, it could have been about other WMD (those infamous initials!), etc. It may also be the case that the USA and the UN are or will use the information gathered to force concessions from Syria and/or its parters--Iran, North Korea and perhaps others (Pakistan--the government or rogue elements within Pakistan). Don't speculate like armchair psychologists whether Israel likes to brag or not. It's irrelevant.
Everyone already knows, so what's the difference?
Re: Vittorio's question (#170). No, it is not obvious that they know nor is it obvious that Israelis know their own self-interests. There is an abysmally low standard for posts here. People cannot spell the English language and their grammar suggests a very poor grasp of elementary logic, not to mention routine racism and insults (including from Jews, sadly). I am not sure why Haaretz allows racists and anti-Semites to post here and I am puzzled as to why the rest of you tolerate them and bother to have a dialogue with such reactionary and retrogressive people. I don't agree with the likes of clickfool or Nathalie and I simply won't have any kind of dialogue with them. Period.
Sadly, when Mike pressed Clickfool's buttons, Clickfool lost it with a venomous response which is beneath him: Mike: "Go on, Clickfool, make my day and say it is not so..." Clickfool: "Israel is a pile of trash, led by the world`s worst politicians. Sometimes I lay into Israel for its crimes and cruelties. Sometimes I lay into its politicians for their wortghlessness." Clickfool, I am disappointed in the abusive (and somewhat irrational) tone in this comment. Israel a pile of trash? I don't think so!!! The world's worst politicians? Yeah some are pretty dreadful, it's true, but with the likes of Dick Cheney, Kim Jong Il, Ahmadinejad, Nazarbayev, et. al. roaming other parts of the globe, Israel hardly has a monopoly on terrible leadership. May I respectfully suggest that you restate this post.
Simply stated but fairly complete set of possibilities. Here are my assigned probability quotients: Scenario #1: 30% Scenario #2: 10% Scenario #3: 50% That leaves 10% likelihood for some other possibility, hitherto unexplored on these boards.
It is possible--maybe--that the Palestinians have more stupid leaders than Israel does. Let's hope. Because I don't know of any country in the world that is led by more stupid people and people who cannot keep their mouths shut! It's not just Bibi, the blabber mouth, but the whole country. It's amazing this country can function at all!
I definitely did not mean that any sudden bursts of rationality - regardless how short - have been detected in the past week - and my instruments are quite sensitive. Certainly not on the occasion of baby yahoo pronouncements. Such claims as I have made refer to a previous though recent time period. I wouldn't go digging too deeply (a waste of your time) but I might have saved a couple - just for my growing library of "cyber pathologies" for which no good cures are yet in sight. If I find, will share...CJCone might like too - if only as a reminder of her Supearnest days (BTW, CJK reminds me of a famous book I read long ago - something about the adventures of The good soldier Schweik, though the name is surely mispelled). Sorry if I caused unrewarding expenditures of time. But thanks for the good pointers in this post. Now I can just use it as reference for the pile of pods I have chosen to entertain today (day off for me. celebrating something or other...nothing to do with ME).
As usual. Our politics are not in sync, but I have to admit that Clickfool has the consistent ability to get to the essence of an issue. To wit: Clickfool's post (above): "Political sources said Tuesday that "once again Netanyahu couldn`t restrain himself and he ran to tell the guys."" Look at me, everyone! See how important I am! Come on - you remember me, don`t you? I`m the guy who was once Prime Minister! I was crap then, but I`ll try harder next time. Come on - give me a break, please! I`m an important chap - see how I get told about things....
...and in Israel their is none uglier (or more brazenly self-serving) than Netanyahu. This comes as no surprise. Even when he was ambassador to the U.N., he was grandstanding with one singular agenda, the same agenda which drives him now: promoting the name of Bejamin Netanyahu. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS! DON'T YOU GET IT? A ZEBRA DOESN'T CHANGE HIS SPOTS.
What better place to slander Jews then a Jewish paper that lets them. Who aso lets then defend the most horrible murdering regimes since Hitlers' because their "end game" is killing all the Jews. YES they know it is a Jewish paper my friend. Shalom!
Mark, hypocrisy might be a moral crime, but it is not known to the criminal law--otherwise, we might all be in jail, with no one to guard the cells. All that said, I can assure you, that you would not want to live in any of the countries to which you compare the US. You are an educated and smart person, but nuance is not your forte.
People are arrested then brought before a military tribunal. How many of those have you witnessed and recorded? How many have been by your records held on "think". Give ALL your evidence. Do you know Israelis "think" it is in their interests to hold, guard, feed, alow visits and give medical care to thousands unnecessarily? As usual Johnboy only "finds" his interpretatiion of law ONLY" applies to Israel. Why don't you lot try observing a few laws?
There is no proof that the latest car bomb in lebanon should be pinned on Syria, just because the MK victim did not support all of Syria's positions. The same lawmaker had many other enemies too. And Israel is the enemy of each and every lebanese who does not support Israeli rightest of right positions fully. So you tell me - what's the rush to judgement? and why now - right after an illegal provocative raid by IDF, which was not entirely successful (hence the emphasis on them "cheshire grins" in the press). Neither are the Hariri assassins known - there are many culprits, but none who agreed to be freely deposed. That includes again certain israeli affiliated groups. When it comes to Lebanon and conspiracy theories, I am but a slow learner. For advanced reading on the subject, please see Walid. There is no greater expert on the latest plot twisters. As the world turns, So we twist... How 'bout you join the frey Spin your own Sound & Furies Plots & Intrigues Spitting to the wind
Dana, every time you open your mouth, you destroy your admirable intent and credibility with your absurdities. And, no offense intended, truly. But, you must ask yourself how many innocent lives, Israeli and Pal, will be lost because of your irresponsible obstinacy. Everytime you open your mouth in support of Pal terror you encourage more death for Israeli and Pal innocents and, your complicity is no less ominous/nauseating than the terrorists you support. No one, NO ONE, would object to a Pal State beside Israel if it meant peace for all. Regrettably however, not all Pals want peace. A few screw it up for everyone. Thus, until all (ALL, Dana) Pals want peace, Israel MUST, defend itself and its people inspite of the naive seduction of little (or twisted) minds by Pal propaganda. When ALL Pals love their families more than killing Jews, there will be peace. And Dana, as history has shown, land is just an excuse to kill more Jews. Terrorist screw things up for everyone - Israeli and Pal.
Dana made remarks about some recent rational posts by Cipora. I haven't noticed any myself and had to take a look. I believe Dana must have been very mistaken in her observation, or perhaps she just observeded a pulse of reason passing from one antenna to the other and disappearing from sight. "1 Hezbollah commenced Lebanon War" - CJ Cone Oh, not again. Israel responded to a border incident by going to war. This is mostly what Olmert is blamed for, and what Peres and others said they opposed, but did not want to undermine Olmert. "2, and the entire world says so." - CJ Cone I am still tabulating the "entire" world's opinions. They do not all say so; example: Peres. 3. "Whatever reason [Hizballah] might have had for their existence ceased the day Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000." - CJ Cone They still want the Shabba Farms. Funnily, the UN cartographer seems to support their claim (as is being reported). 4. "At this point, they are an illegitimate private militia within the sovereign State of Lebanon." - CJ Cone Please let us know when Lebanon outlawed this private militia. I understand there were lots of militias in Lebanon. Were they all illegal? When did the situation change? 5. "As to Syria: Article 51 of the UN Charter allows the use of force only for self-defense." - CJ Cone I am at a loss for words to an apologist who accuses Syria for using force (when?) days after Israel bombed Syrian territory. "Of course", Israeli action is justified (somehow), or the apologist believes so in any case.
Red Riding Hood (RRH) to do but cower? Alas, there is not one peter to the rescue, them all being part of the Woves pack? Well, so little RRH called in the Red brigades to try and get their own hostages to help recover Grandma's family, now imprisoned deep in the Big Bad Wolf (BBW) territory, in its specially designed torture chambers. Not to mention rescuing poor Little Sheba (LS) the poodle, guarding her fine water wells. But the angry BBW gang went on a rampage, disturbing the many foraging creatures south of Litani, and bombing the rest. Not to worry though as the Red Brigades mounted an effective defense, causing the BBW gang members to retreat with tail firmly tucked where they belong. We now have another impass. Wolfie howling and scratching supposedly about dead Jews. In reality about failing to kill more than just them 1000 Lebanese civilians. RRH/BBW/LS sorry tale to be continued...alas. All mourn together now...
If she used her REAL name, the department of homeland security migh come knocking on her door.
Just gotta say it, M, your post gave me a good laugh! It's a serious subject, of course, but still, what you wrote was funny!
C.J.K. !! MY MY MY !! ON YOUR "GAME" TONIGHT!! As for Dana-I long ago stopped trying to have a rational conversation with her. YOU CANNOT. As I related to you before, she is a "California pinko far leftie wack job" a simple statement, yes but on the button about her. HATES the west, which INCLUDES her own country, the U.S., Isreal, and OF COURSE "the Jews" .ALL is our fault. Had to take the wife out to dinner tonight-HAPPY you have been "manning the barricades" so well!
"As for your claim of keeping the Golan heights you can weep all you want, next time tell Syria not to shell us once they have the territory, as it was before the war of 1967 started, or invade us like in the war of 1973!" (gil) In other words, you believe israel can keep the territories it STOLE. In 1967 israel attacked Syria and in 1973 Syria attacked to try and recover what they lost. And so it will continue to try and regain its land. In time, they'll get better weapons, And one day, Israel will stop listening to idiots like you who will sacrifice others for their own selfish GREEDY goals. Re Hezbollah - it's not your call about whether they should arm or not. Right now they are Lebanon's only effective defense forces against a belligerent Israel. That Israel doesn't like it is understandable. After all, hezbollah prevented IDF from overunning lebanon at will, and gave their vaunted military a few black eyes. As for UN resolutions, isn't israel in breech of 242 + 30 more?
Dear satirist: Now now, don't resort to racial generalizing, prejudice and stereotyping. By doing so you are lowering yourself. People from all over the world are interested in the Israeli-Pal conflict, and such anti-Zionist views are very prevalent here in the West too. As a Canadian of Indian Jewish B'nai Israel background, with many relatives in Israel and some in India, I know that many Hindus are pro-Israel. But we can't take that for granted, and your presumption of superiority are outdoing lakshmi's in their overwhelming level of self-righteousness.
Netanyahu is a yahoo, and a stupid one at that. He's now admitted to a war crime, not that the world doesn't recognize multiple war crimes committed by Israel. I'm disgusted with Israel. They are simply self destructing. Breaks my heart to know that Israel's days on earth are numbered. Someone always whips the schoolyard bully eventually.
"Unfortunately, Cipora is starry-eyed about the one country on Earth that PRETENDS that it is civilized but DOESN`T believe in all that high-fangled fancy stuff." - Johnboy The US also has repudiated the basic concepts of individual liberty and freedom. The difference between the US and Israel, and the ruthless regimes in Iran and Syria is simple. The US and Israel deplore in the actions of those other regimes, what they practice in fact. They deplore murder, torture and arrest without trial. But they both practice all of those things. The US and Israel suffer from one moral crime that Iran and Syria do not. They suffer from the ULTIMATE moral crime of hypocrisy.
Everyone who has any education knows that there are criminal minds. This does not mean that people are convicted for their thoughts. They are convicted for their acts. I am fascinated by the responses to my post regarding the matter. Those responses say much about the respondent.
Regarding Misha: I dont know how many languages you speak, but Misha speaks at least 3 and its very unkind of you to make fun of his spelling mistakes. He has a Russian name, so that is his mother-tongue. Russian has its own alphabet. He comes from Israel and speaks Hebrew which has a different alphabet. He has a broad vocabulary of English - and English has yet another alphabet. So in fact, he is quite a linguist.
"in the hands of murderous Israel..." You really cannot help yourself, can you. Let me explain it to you clearly: the West fears precisely those totalitarian, terrorist regimes and groups that you support. It was Saddam who had gassed the Kurds. It is Syria who is enjoined under SCR 1701 from arming Hezbollah. It is Syria who is at risk from a UN Tribunal for its assassination of a Lebanese PM. You do not support democratic, "progressive" forces in the ME. You support repressive, murderous regimes and groups who repress, torture, deprive and kill their own people. Your emotionality and partiality are unmasked for all to see. Your tendency to turn around any criticism of people in your world, with the remark, "Israel too," is indicative of a very poor analytical mind. All you manage to do is come up with slogans.
Why don't put that in with it?Or describe,Syrian actions before the raid, etc. It's part of a whole situation as all things are.
No one has said, that it's true yet!You might be found,as a false prophet!Be wary of posts.
His appearance,is shear brilliance!It hits the divisions squarley,and in a good(hud,akitub)manner.Amen
Ha ha ha ha ha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haragtah oti !!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was really really funny !!!!
Andreas: You are such an incredibly boring, dull people. Why are you sitting in Basle reading of all things, another country's daily newspaper??? Havent you fot anything better to do?? LOL! You must be really dull and boring. For the life of me, I would never read a Swiss newspaper.
VH: "where are all the doubters now ?" Well, I'm here, Victor, and I'm still doubting. VH: "let them all write and apologise to us now!" Apologize for what? Nobody ever claimed that Israel WASN'T carrying out "an operation in Syria"; of course they were, unless you think people were claiming those planes has somehow "gotten lost" and blundered into Syia. But note what Bibi actually SAID: Did he say that this was an IDF AIR STRIKE? No, he didn't. He said that he had been briefed on "an operation in Syria". Didn't this article say that there was an IDF AIR STRIKE? Yes, but those are the words of the haaretz journalist; Bibi only said he was privy to Olmert's decision to carry out "an operation in Syria". Was it to ATTACK something? Possibly, but not necessarily. Was that hypothetic attack a SMASHING success? There isn't the slightest evidence for THAT, victor.
Hi CJ :) - you hang in there girl, ya hear, hang in there. You are correct in all your assessments as there is no changing the minds of children (wanna expert, ask a teenager) or idiots with no conscience, they know, no better. Thus, Israel and its supporters are under constant attack by those who would use the Pals as an insidious excuse for their Jewish loathing while lovers of Israel are constantly defending against Pal supporting urchins. Sadly, many actually, incredibly, believe the Pal propaganda i.e. BS. They don't realize that their support only results in more innocent Pal and Israeli women and childrens death. Once all set aside their twisted fantasies and paranoias then, maybe the children will stop being wantonly slaughtered by terrorists, by design - by the IDF, by chance i.e. accident. There is no hope for the blind apologists for they REFUSE to see. Meanwhile, innocent Israeli and Pal children must pay with their lives for this recalcitrance to logic. Apologist = Putrid.
T: "How many times do I need to explain to you that, on Earth, a human's thoughts cannot be used to convict him/her, nor entitle somebody else to call him/her 'a criminal'?" THAT is going to fall on deaf ears, I'm afraid. You really should have said "in the civilized countries on Earth" because, of course, Israel's Administrative Detention laws allow her to lock up someone when the IDF "thinks" the detainee might be "thinking" about committing an unspecified act at some indefinite time in the future. So "thinking about it" is enough to have you labelled as a "terrorist" in Israel, and put behind bars. Still, you are half-right - it can't be done in any of the civilized countries on Earth. Unfortunately, Cipora is starry-eyed about the one country on Earth that PRETENDS that it is civilized but DOESN'T believe in all that high-fangled fancy stuff.
We still know nothing about what actually happened. The censors have clamped down upon all discussion by anyone who has a clue. Bibi, has grabbed the spotlight and shined it upon himself. So much for "national security." It's good for Bibi. The question I have, is what is Israel hiding? Everyone knows they hit Syria. Syria says no damage was done. Is that the 'secret"? That Israel fugged up? I don't know. The silence is deafening. Except for Bibi, grabbing some headlines, by violating national security.
Its sad to see the degree to which Bibi has fallen - HAS HE FORGOTEN WHAT HIS BROTHER DIED FOR - this is what happens when Israels leaders put POLITICS FIRST
Israel has once again proved to be the most dangerous nation after the USA. So long as the US-Israeli axis continues all that will inivetably come down the line is more warfare and killings. Israel has hitched its fortune to a sinking empire and will be ruined as a result.
Cipora Julianna Kohn - Thank you! Well I am waiting for the police to come and arrest me! For Dana has a broad dispersed imagination, thinking everyone here is threatening her!
I have not one reason to want you to stop posting, however, whether it was fake or not, I read a post allegedly by you a day or so ago stating that because somebody was faking you, you would not post for a week. Well, the fakers are out of control, really it's stupid. I read the post and believed it. Did you read such a post on a recent thread and/or deny it?
Dana I fail to see where is the threat? Treatment = Behavior (Synonym) You are Imagining things go to sleep so-called Dana! And yes for your information I am from Israel and my name is Gil and I am a Palestinian Jew, and there is nothig threatning with me! Seams you always avoiding the same question that seams to be so difficult for you to answer us all, whether Dana is your real birth name?
Well Dana I really don?t care whether you consider Hezbollah a legitimate militia and political movement, and your thought that more countries should help Hezbollah! It seams that when something suits you, you will reside to some Resolution but since it is clear to you that Resolution 1701 that the Lebanese government has approved, puts your opinionated thought way back in the garbage can were it belongs! According to that Resolution No arming of Hizbollah is allowed, or any militia in Lebanon, your opinion is one that adds fuel to the fire, or worse the one that sparks the flame, and at who?s expense you are doing it, none but the Lebanese people! As for your claim of keeping the Golan heights you can weep all you want, next time tell Syria not to shell us once they have the territory, as it was before the war of 1967 started, or invade us like in the war of 1973! Start a war pay the Consequences!
will eventually thank Israel for what is inevitably coming down the line.
Who crossed the border, kidnapped a soldier, killed three others and fired 40 katyushas into the centre of Israel? If someone fired missiles into the middle of your Sunnybrook Farm, Pollyanna, you'd respond soon enough. You've made it perfectly clear that Jews' lives are easily forgotten and their deaths easily forgiven.
After your comments today supporting the "conspiracy theory" behind the latest car bombing in Lebanon. Which does that make you, a fool, or a propagandist?
there was the danger that Tel Aviv or Haifa was pulverized in microseconds, believe me,(in the case of an israeli attack on Iran). The Attack was absolutly necessary.
If I were you, I would not use words like "traitor;" they might come back to haunt you. Furthermore, it shows that you are incapable of participating in a debate without slandering your opponent. Clearly, you have not learned the lessons of participatory democracy. As to the points you are attempting to make: 1 Hezbollah commenced Lebanon War 2, and the entire world says so. Whatever reason they might have had for their existence ceased the day Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000. At this point, they are an illegitimate private militia within the sovereign State of Lebanon. Their cross-border raid into Israel last year, was in fact a violation not only of Israeli sovereignty, but also of Lebanese sovereignty. This private militia started a war without the authorisation of the legitimate government of Lebanon. As to Syria: Article 51 of the UN Charter allows the use of force only for self-defense. Your support of that regime shows very poor judgment.
If the former, (# 229)... well, you may be correct... If the latter (# 176), then, well you may both have something common (sense)...
Before being so harsh on that Hizbulla sympathizer if not member you must consider the source. Walid claim that he loves Lebanon but in fact is part of the problem and is now contemplating making a quick exit.He lives in a country that is imploding from the inside as a result of all the conspiracies and intrigues among the various groupings and inside these groupings. You would think that a Western educated Lebanese would work to clean up the mess that is Lebanon but not Walid. He is too busy with his hatred for Israel and not even his love of the Palestinians as his country is the most racist and apartheid state anywhere and that includes Saudia.Walid has no love or interest in the balestinians and he has no love or interest in Lebanon. HE JUST hates Israel. The rest is just window dressing.
Yes, even Supearnest Cones overplay their hand at times. For a while recently, I thought I noticed a change for the better recently in our master tireless apologist, with a few posts that even made sense. There were even a couple that made me wonder whether she was getting (finally!) some expert help, as there was some real logic to be found (though to find evidence for such one still had to look between the lines). Unfortunately, the minute something happens like a possibly questionable raid into another country, or threats to impose collective punishment on all inmates of the Gaza prison, she reverts to her old pure apologist ways. If she continues in this vein, I'll have to demote her back to apologist trooper, standard cone issue. Yes, I did notice you were also getting a bit harsh again (it's possible martians have feelings. I mean there is no conclusive research showing otherwise. Plus it gets the synpathizers up in arms. Still, our CJK cone can get most annoying at times).
Refugee is right. Israel has institutonalized fear and aggression on both the governmental and personal levels in order to maintain an inordinate level of weaponry. It is a mindset that has been continually reinforced since Israel's inception. "What a failed state" indeed. Bibi is carrying on the tradition. They can't find any peace because of their habit of hate. Reap what you sow! Love conquers all.
"Dana continues to be a Syrian a Hizb a Hamas supporter" (Gil) As I said, I am a supporter of legitimate resistance movements against proven aggression. I'd have been among those who supported the jews against their persecutors in Europe. Though you Gil are more like the Kossacks of old. Too bad it is now the jews who are persecuting arabs, having taken over their land. Most civilized people are against terror whether state or religion supported. I am against all "god's warrirors" whether jewish, christian or muslim. "But please do us a favor leave your fake Name on the register, Come up with your own name for a change! We promise you will get the same treatment if you do so!" (Gil) Is this a threat, gil? have we got us a true kahanist? please assure me you are not a US citizen or I'll have a field day with some DL's. Well, at least you are there and not here. PS I reported your threat to Haaretz. More significantly, I saved your post for future use as an example.
Did I say anything about convicting anyone? Do you know whose "mind" I was referring to? Are you saying that no mind, no matter?
Peter, discussions on Bibi or Bozo aside, I have repeatedly told you that those who constantly talk in the third person and keep talking about poor this and poor that in every comment end up in nuthouses. I suggest you keep your distance.
"she [syria] was the one that armed Hizb. In Lebanon....she is still doing it, otherwise how do you explain Hizb. Getting to its hands on so many missiles that are equal to what it had before the Lebanon war started?" (Gil) For one thing I consider Hezbollah a legitimate militia and political movement representing the shiites in Lebanon. They have every right to be armed because it is israel that's threatening them (just who invaded Lebanon for 20 years? who bombed and killed over 1000 civilians deliberately? who demolished infrastructure?). I think more countries should help Hezbollah deter israeli aggression. I'm glad to hear they replentished their arms. Israel did the same didn't they? As for Syria - who's keeping whose territoty? The golan is syrian and everything israel is doing is so they don't have to give it back. Just like other aggressors and conquerors from timeimmemorial. So yes, I support all legitimate resistance against prejudice, aggression, and murderous regimes.
"You should write for one of those magazines that cater for people who cook and catch fish and repair motorcycles." (wolfie/toto) Thanks for the recommendation. Glad you liked my writing. "To us, you sound envious, prejudiced and ignorant." (wolfie) "us" as in what? israelistan? colonialist-thugs? kahanistas? read more TB's for evidence of prejudice among your own. As for ignorance - I saw little in your post to dispel such. However, I did see evidence of strong feelings against arabs. But those are surely not the same as prejudice? "The word `neocon` brands you immediately as an unthinking picker up of unconsidered trifles.' (wolfie) almost 1M dead Iraqis, 4000 US troops are a trifle to you? " You will notice that all serious commentators avoid it.' (wolfie) Only jewish neocons object. Having urged the Iraq war crime they now want more in Iran. Name Elliot adams rings a bell? Hope you are not a US citizen. If you were I'd consider you a traitor, neocon or not.
"There is absolutely no doubt that Syria has been accumulating many tons of deadly chemical agents over the years, as well as scuds of various forms to deliver chemical warheads." (CJK) You seem to have fewer doubts than credible intelligence agencies. You probably had no doubts about Saddam's arsenal at the time either. Can I sell you some Nigeria yellow cake? (with tentacles going back to Mossad, BTW). Scientific inquiry and ability to comprehend differences between conjecture and proof are not your forte. "The case for nuclear weapons has not yet been made." (CJK) OK, mini-doubt here. But the case for israel's nuclear bombs has been made. Why wouldn't arabs want the same? Iafter all, it is Israel that's threatening them now. " Nevertheless, the chemical and biological weapons, in the hands of murderous Syria is a direct threat to Israel." (CJK) Paraphrase: chemical and biological weapons, in the hands of murderous Israel is a direct threat to the world.
I have never met a Martian but would presume that their logic would be probably very different from ours. I did however meet some Geniuses and can confirm that genius and madness have a very close correlation. In your own mind you think that you are a genius but I would say that you probably penetrated that invisible line and are now pure madness. But on the other hand maybe you are just a plain old Martian who has just gone mad after living for a while on earth. In any case We can safely say that you are just MAD and NUTS.
"Sometimes a criminal mind lurkes in the shadows." - CJ Cone How many times do I need to explain to you that, on Earth, a human's thoughts cannot be used to convict him/her, nor entitle somebody else to call him/her "a criminal"? We do not read other people's minds well. Humans do not have antennas which connect directly to a person's brain, unlike the Martians, so you must rely on facts over here. P.S. As Halloween is approaching, it reminds me that a good hat for you to wear is a witch's hat. The tall conic part will fit your cone-head well and will even hide the antenna.
.....AND WHY NOT FOLLOW ELMERS LEAD AND KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT WHEN IT COMES TO ISRAEL. YOUR ARABIST JEW AND ISRAEL HATRED IS WELL KNOWN HERE.
Gil, you also hear that Israel has no nuclear arms; radioactivity is without colour and without odor and results from its exposure take years to appear. I truly hope nobody on either side of the border were injured but this is doubtful as Isarel used the bunker buster bombs that contained depleted uranium at the border too and from which tens of thousands of American servicemen are claiming compensation from their government for permanent genetic damage and cancers from having handled these munitions without protection in Kosovo and in Iraq I. We saw pictures of Israeli soldiers doing likewise during last year's war. I hope the articles written on it are wrong and that you are right. Google "depleted uranium".
Mankind has done a more than through job in slaughtering his/her neighbors for millenia. Just remember, here in the good ol' US of A, we're on track to witness something like 10,000 homicides. That's an annual figure for the record, so since the beginning of the millenia (say 2000 for arguments sake), we've knocked off close to 70,000 Americans. Stop and think about that figure for a minute. In New York City, we had peak homicides of about 2,000 a year in the 1980's. Now, in the "safe" post-Gulliani era, we're down to about 600 homicides a year.
Hi Ballistic, Yeah I was beginning to notice that the more "enlightened " posters are on the "Right"???? side of the issue. Check diminutive mickey,s (misha)post to me on the Amira Hass thread. Best regards from Eireann
Coming from a country that neutralizes the opposition by assasinating them such as the other day in beirut....whew. A country that glorifies a samir kuntar....a country that glorifies the keeping of prisoners totally in the dark without visitation, without red-cross. A country that glorifies in trading dead Israeli bodies on a 500:1 ratio with live Lebanese. whew, this guy is going to spin us on morality?????? Of course this article is about syria and Bibi's comments on it.....much to our Lebanese conspiracy obsessed fellow's dismay, so we'll ignore the ethical and moral decay of Lebanon for now.
How can you label an action stupid when you don't know the details?
As long as they keep killing each other off,who gives a shit,at least they're leaving normal humans alone..go for it arabs, your false god allah will approve.
Terminator, you throw out loose comments about Arabs killing each other and if we reply to them that Jews do it too, we get accused of funny things because Jews don't do such things to each other. The greatest mass murderer in the 20th century was a Jew, Genrikh Yagoda, founder of the forerunner to the KGB who killed 10 million that included Jews and whose Jewish deputies ran the gulag system where many Jews ended up. The Jewish member of the Politburo Lazar Kaganovitch starved million in the Ukraine and the list of killings by Jews is very long, so get off your high Israeli horse about Arabs being killers and read about some Jews being killers too. Of course, this does not mean that all Jews are like that and I hope Jacob will see this last sentence. Read the article in Ynet. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3342999,00.html
Yes when it comes to ethnic cleansing the Lebanese are champions.
Your imagination is running wild. I realize that you, and quite a few others, would like me to stop, but for now that is not going to happen.
As usual the only thing Bibi cares about is himself and his political gain. Hopefully Israeli voters see through his attempt to hitch a ride on the Syrian affair.
tossi baby, for some reason you have chosen to ignore that your handlers in Damascus killed another Lebanese anti-Syrian politician. We understand how politics in Syria work. We understand how they have no respect whatsoever for lebanese democracy or independence. So what is your take on the bomb blast in Beirut. I read SANA Syrian News Agency and some third cousin of Assad denounced the assasination. Nice and cuddly aren't they? As for what you consider humor you coward, regarding your "humorous" replies to Cipora, they are but amateurish slapstick. So what is your spin on another Leb politican killed by Syrian agents?
Congratulations to BiBi, the Israel Air Force and to all who agreed. I wish that America, England and France had the guts to do the same in Iran. Had the French and the Brits occupied the Rheinland when Hitler moved his gangsters in, six million Jews would never have died, and neither would have milions upon millions of Christians. Hasn't the world learned yet from history ?
Jacob Blues, you should not be offended because I'm doing somersaults in detailing that this applies to a minority of Israelis and not to the whole and I am disappointed that you have not seen that in the same post 154 to Avi from where you lifted the expression in which I was clearly saying saying that this applied to a minority that was unjustly reflecting badly on all the other Israelis in the same manner that Arab plane highjackers used to reflect on all Arabs. This specificity was repeated in subsequent posts 158, 185, and 198 and you chose instead to haul out something or other about Nazi blood libel to which I did not at all refer. Please re-read my posts with an open mind.
Read something over the U.S.S. Stark and over the Falkland-War and the Exocets. Iran has more as 300 . Fare more dangerous ,the SS22 ore Sunburn. with this deadliest Missile in the World the Persian Gulf is a Mouse-trap for the american Carriers. The Phalance-Radar is not capable to detetect them, the new RAM-System from Raytheon against the Sunburn is still in development and not tested. With high probability is the SS 22 the only raeson why the americans are waiting with the Attack of Iran.
Please go easy on Bibi. He's suffering from hoof-in-mouth disease. All he wants is to be PM again.
"Labor Party secretary-general, Eitan Cabel, said to Army Radio that Netanyahu's words were "an outburst that is severe, stupid and irresponsible." Not nearly as severe, stupid, and irresponsible as the decision to make the attack on Syria. First Lebanon, now Syria. Power in the hands of fools. I wonder who they will hit next? Iran???
Because,the 2 are actually you!
The Olmert government is not Jerusalem. Jerusalem is NOT enraged at Netanyahu's comments. That would be the Olmert government that is enraged. And maybe you-all? If Netanyahu become PM again, will you attribute his pronouncements to Jerusalem as well? Please don't. Assad is NOT Syria or Damascus. The Saudis are NOT Arabia or Riyadh. Mubarak is NOT Egypt or Cairo. And Olmert is NOT Israel, or Jerusalem. I know it's convenient and conventional shorthand, but it's also very misleading. I'm sure plenty of Jerusalemites don't care a bit about this Olmert-Netanyahu squabble.
Yes, that is quite a post and with all those misspelled words, it seems to jive with Israel cutting their education budget, but increasing the brainwashing one. However, the way out posts are usually written by posters who have least mastered the English language. Regards. Ballistic.
Have you ever heard of:using the enemies words! In which,it's because they used,Israel's words beforehand and you didn't know it!Because you have,a "seared conscience",hands down! You hear nothing of actual Israel, but the one,the world and the Devil tell you about.
Explain please: Why do Arabs so much love killing eachother in the most horrible ways? Either it is Sadam killing you or your other leaders? The only thing to make you stop killing eachother is when you take a pause to hate Israel or Jews, then you go back to kill, kill, kill more Arabs. Sometimes I belive you hate Arabs even more than you hate Jews. Any given year you guys kill more muslim Arabs than has been killed in the ENTIRE history of the palestininanian-Israeli conflict. But you do not care. Instead of dealing with your c**p you go on and on about the US and the evil Jews. It is everyone elses fault. No, the only way to save you from your selves is massive Jewish settlement, and you know it.
Please re-read my posts.
A day or so ago, I read a post from CPK (of course full name) stating she was going to punish the fake posters and not post on Haaretz for a week; I think she said a week. That was just a day or two ago, so this may not be CPK as she says what she means and means what she says, 1 week. As for Zionist warmongering, they are proud they have carried out yet another unprovoked attack on a neighbor stating as the reason for the same their paranoia---so, here we go again. Of course, neocons have been beating the Iran war drums in the US, but Congress and voters are not buying. The latest 'celebrity' saying essentially Iran need not be bombed is Jimmy Carter. All while they yell anti this and that and wonder why there is no support for Zionism excepting Palau and Micronasia. Oh well, justice comes to all when and where it is due. High regards. Ballistic.
This is Hussein Goldberg in case u dont know. I would not pay these guys any attention; they suffer from an organic disease:stupidity. No wonder they hardly survive in this real world. As to Natanyahu , he is a P'Z . But so is the whole political establishment in Israel-- they all suffer from foot-in-mouth-disease. Why this is so startles me. Maybe they need to be fed some white meat?
Your so-called humour is that of a pre-pubescent boy who has not yet learned the facts of life.
Just a day or so ago, I read a post from CPK stating she was not going to post on Haaretz for one week because of fakers. Therefore, this may or may not be CPK given what she posted, or what a faker posted a few days ago.
Sometimes a criminal mind lurkes in the shadows.
Walid I live in the Galilee and I can?t feel any thing toxic in the air, I am growing some vegetables in the Galilee, and they are tasty as usual, If some kind of toxin has been released I believe we would hear of a large export of fruit and vegetables that has been band or destroyed in the North, a lot of media and so on! So what kind of stuff are we talking about here?
The official approach to what happened in Syria is "NO COMMENT".
Your post only vindicates a saying made about Syria in Lebanon, that it acts as both the fire starter and the fire brigade. The Fatah-al-Islam and Jund ash-Sham are certainly not welcome in downtown Damascus, but support by Syrian intelligence for such groups operating in Palestinian camps in Lebanon is no secret. As far as overt Syrian support for the Lebanese army in fighting the same terror groups, that is obvious. Exactly the same happened in 1975, when the Syrian army entered 'brotherly Lebanon' at Lebanon's government request, helping Syria to infiltrate all of Lebanon like a hot knife through butter.
Netanyahu's claim to fame over alleged Syria strike shows he hasn't changed Eitan Haber Published: 09.20.07, 13:58 / Israel Opinion Who could forget: July 4th, 1976 was one of Israel's finest hours. On the night before the dawn of that new day, the IDF released the hostages in Entebbe, 4,000 kilometers (roughly 2,600 miles) away from home. Israel rose to a morning of Gullivers. Every citizen became inches taller. Thousands congregated at the Ben Gurion airport to welcome the released hostages. Joy swept through the entire country. Who could possibly forget? Then, all of a sudden, from among the thousands who screamed for joy, opposition leader Menachem Begin appeared. B-E-G-I-N, B-E-G-I-N, roared the crowd, carrying him on their shoulders and breaking out in dance. Begin, of course, only wanted to join in the celebration of the masses when he suddenly found himself at the center of the reveling crowd. Those who asked, "What is he doing here?" and "what does he have to do with the successful operation?" almost risked their lives. Begin, Begin, roared the impassioned crowds ? and the media aired the images live to the entire world. Yitzhak Rabin, the man who made the decision only arrived later on, but it was too late. Begin, the man who had nothing to do with the Entebbe operation, had already taken the entire kitty. Benjamin Netanyahu, in his appearance on Channel 1 News Wednesday, unwittingly repeated Begin's "ploy." His response was honest and accurate: "I was a partner to this matter from the beginning and I gave it my support." However, the atmosphere produced by the response created the impression Netanyahu wanted to create: That he was a partner, and as our wise men say, everyone wants to take credit for a successful mission. According to Netanyahu, this was a successful operation And so, Thursday morning the masses woke to the knowledge that it wasn't only Ehud Olmert and Ehud Barak who were responsible for the success of "that matter" (What? Who? Will someone tell us already?), it was Bibi too. Truth is, Netanyahu's sin is not terrible and many politicians may have, perhaps, acted in the same manner. However, his supporters, particularly his aides, should tell him that this is an exact copy of the "old Bibi," an image he wanted to get rid of so badly ? that is, jumpy and taking credit for others' achievements. On another radio broadcast Saturday, Netanyahu talked about the Likud party that supported the peace process with Egypt, and forgot to say that the agreement was only passed in the Knesset because of the support of the Labor party, and if this hadn't been the case the Likud would have been in dire straits. But this is exactly the old Bibi - and we believed or wanted to believe that he was reborn.
Netanyahu opens his mouth-AT LAST -- just wide enough to put his foot in it. Peace. Steve
Ahh, yes WWII... when we actually had allies that fought and held off Hitler until we could get in the fight! Exactly who would those allies be today? As for the IDF, can you name one war that Israel has joined with another country? As I recall, we paid them $10 billion to 'sit out' Gulf I and $13B to do nothing in 2003, giving new meaning to 'mercenaries'! Fortunately, Iran won't be the first to attack; but alas, if Bush had his way, goosed by our dear friends in Israel, he would see that an attack was provoked. Then, all you war fans can hope that Henry's overnight draft plan works - after our 150,000 troops now in Iraq are overrun.
You follow up the critique on your comments about Jews as Nazi's with the blood libel issue. Jamboree of Draculas? You're better than this Walid, and yes, I'm offended. As for Netanyahu, just remember, he followed up his 89 speech with a term as PM in the 1990's. Not only were the Palestinians not massacred, but he actually handed over Hebron, and held backroom negotiations with Syria to return the Golan.
He is a mendacious fool and an utter clown. Arrogant, inept, venal, deceitful, opportunistic, callous...I could compile a dictionary of disaster in describing the loathsome man. At least he is keeping his appalling wife well in the background.
See my caption. Enough said.
Satan has only 1 T. Maneagable is spelt as such. Militarily has only 2 L,s. Dismembered has only 3 E,s, And who is drunk.
We did nothing! No, maybe we did! No, we did do it! The worst thing about this situation is the denial. Israel is like the little kid that angers you more when they lie about breaking the window then the actual breaking. Grow up! Tell the world why and then you will garner support. Denial only makes you look guilty, treacherous and untrustworthy. I support Israel but the posturing is hard to approve.
Gil, believe me we know all about the ugly things brought into Lebanon by our 2 esteemed neighbours. The readioactive stuff that was used on Lebanon last summer is still being felt here and some of it has reached Israel since it idiotically dropped some of it inside Lebanon within 2 km of its own borders and the wind currents did the rest. It seems the pap you been fed does not include such information. With its nuclear arsenal, you and Israel should not be saying boo about whatever chemicals the Syrians may have and you two deserve each other with your ugly arms and intentions. I suggest you don't go near the northern border or eat anything being grown there.
Dana, you ought to be congratulated for sending our resident Martian to do some Earthly research and stick to facts. I have adifferent (humorous) approach, but sometimes her apologistic talk gets on my nerves. Just to clarify the issue of Syrian Chemical weapons, Syria has them, does not deny it, and there is nothing criminal about it. Syria is not a signatory to the Chemical Weapons Convention, which Israel is. On the other hand, Syria IS a signatory to the NPT convention on nuclear weapons, which Israel is not. Israel has developed nuclear weapons while Syria chose as a counter measure to develop the low-tech Chemical Weapons. Who is criminal here? Who is better armed? Apologists don't worry about their side, just the other side.
Jake, a small correction is needed. The Islamic fundamentalists fighting the army in the camp were not backed by the Syrians as most had come come from Saudi Arabia, Yemen and several other countries and were Salfists Sunni an organization that had worked with the Americans in Afghanistan. Most of the help extended to the army during the fighting had come from Syria. The army also received attack helicopters from the Emirates but the Americans insisted on having them delivered without the missile-launching capability and that should give you an idea of who was really helping and who was hindering the army against the terrorists. And I'm no fan of Syria so I'm not saying this to defend it as far as the battle of the camp was concerned.
"Go on, Clickfool, make my day and say it is not so..." Israel is a pile of trash, led by the world's worst politicians. Sometimes I lay into Israel for its crimes and cruelties. Sometimes I lay into its politicians for their wortghlessness.
"I believe this number of posts was more (by a pretty good margin) than any other poster on the thread" I notice you talk about "the thread". Did you check the other threads offered by Haaretz? You'll find a total absence of comment from me on most of them. On this particular thread (of 193 messages) I've post just 6 messages. This makes 7.
Mr. Walid, What kind of lies are we telling? Officially Israel has not said a ward a bout what it has done in Syria, but it was the foreign media! Even Netanyahu hasn?t said what sort of operation has been done in Syria! So what kind of lie are we talking here? Mr. Walid you may favor Syria but consider that if indeed the foreign media is right, and Israel hit a Chemical facility in Syria, you in Beirut should be much more calmand rejoice, for the same Chemicals when Israel is hit would get to Lebanon with the flow of the wind!
While I have been trying to defent the Turkish causes in the USA since 1980 Turks like yourself has been killing my efforts. As they say in Turkish BIR CUVAL INCIRI MAHVETTIN (you destroyed a full bag of figs). So now AYIKLA PIRINCIN TASINI (clean up the stones from the rice - similar to looking for a needle in a haystack) It is because of Turks like you that Turkey can never raise to the level of modernity.
Gil, about ethnic cleansing, I am not applying this term to all the Israelis since there are many against these actions and from what you wrote, you aren't comfortable with the concept yourself. I'm talking about the actions of the few here that sadly are reflecting on the whole of the population and is giving a bad name to the rest of the Israelis that do not deserve it. It has also happened in Arab countries and there also, it was an awful thing.
...It will happen, Fatmah, your worst nightmares will come true. Both Syria(a little sattan) and Iran(a bigger sattan) will be militarilly demolished and politically restructured(desmembered into smaller more manageble pieces along the sectarian/religious lines, just as Iraq effectively was. Regards...
People like you said the same thing about the US before World War II, when we had no army and no equipment. If Iran were foolish enough to attack the USA, we do whatever necessary to eliminate the threat. You forget we can draft soldiers here too, unlike Iran we don't do it for the purpose of holding meaningless parades for the TV news.
Ah, a new low. The ability of politicians to lie convincingly has become an admired quality? On the other hand BBgun Netanyahoos mouth does seem to work faster than his brain. A special shout out to MK Gilad Erdan for confirming "the existence of Israel's nuclear arms". And Erdan calls Natanyahoo irresponsible?
I have never seen Israel ever give in to any bully.if you read the Old Testament, you will see why anyone gives in to anything. And It's because of, consequences of sin and obedience.
It's bordering on fake inclusion,therefore it's a counter-measure for sure!People,need to learn, Apologetics!Or Systematic Theology,etc.
You really make yourself look like a lackey of Syria in an attempt to whitewash their record? Syria does not have one of the largest chemical weapons stockpiles in the world? What has Syria done lately, you ask? Anti-Syrian politicians and innocent bystanders are being blasted to kingdom come in Lebanon. Syrian-backed Islamist terror organizations fight pitched battles with the Lebanese Army for months on end. And you make the laughable remark that "Syria only desires peace with Israel". These are the remarks of pseudo-"liberals", who complain about "neocons" and Bush day and night ad nauseam. Bush, even if he makes bad decisions, is honest and a straight talker and not beholden to fickle interests. The American Leftist pseudo "liberals" are far worse. They were the ones who invented the lies about Kosovo and pressured Clinton into launching an illegal war against Serbia in 1999, and continue to this day to press for further breakup of Serbia, which is ILLEGAL. Hypocrites.
The only "virgins" they are going to get will be roasting in the fires of the netherworld--
Clickfool is simply enamored of his own overload of semantics and hate of Israel and the US- he can't see past his nose on any opinion other than his own
Mr. Walid I won?t have you accusing Israel of Ethnically Cleansing the Bedouins in the Negev or the Palestinians, for it is mostly associated with mass killing, and sorry to disappoint you Israel is not Ethnically Cleansing anybody even if you had some good intention in stating it! If you would have said that the situation of the Bedouins is ALA-ESTOR, I could agree with you on that. Yes the situation of the Bedouins in the Negev is not good and degraded and Israel government should be much more considerate towards the Bedouin population in the Negev! I consider them a friend of Israel, like I do the Droze for being good citizens, and in some cases proving their loyalty by joining the Israeli Army! But you chose to use the ward ethnic cleansing and to that I can?t agree, for when people speak of Ethnic Cleansing it is associated with Former Yugoslavia, USSR and Chchnees, the Jewish holocaust, Darfor, Rwanda all involving mass-murders!
Believe it or not, if you repeat a lie a thousand times, it will not become true. We know that your hobby is to repeat your lies about Israel to unsuspecting people. However, high level American officials have been slowly revealing that Israel warned the US not to go to war in Iraq, saying that Iran was a more serious threat years ago. Organizations like AIPAC, etc. never called for force to be used against Iran, only for strict enforcement of legally approved sanctions. So, you can repeat your lies as much as you like, the fact of the matter is that you, Arabs and Muslims are the International Aggressors par excellence. It all started when the sons of Adnan and Qahtan decided the Arabian sand dunes are not enough for them, and it is time to wage a world-wide conquest by the sword, and steal the patrimony of others. Does the truth hurt?
You mention 'rich targets'. Well, there are plenty of US targets just across Iran's borders. What's the total now... maybe $200 billion of 'infrastructure' we've spent there in the last few yrs. Or, consider that the US already can't muster enough military forces for Iraq, what would happen if Iran sent about 250,000 troops for a 'howdy do' with the US boys and girls hunkered down there?? Since our troops can't seem to contain a few thousand 'insurgents' already and we've got no reserves left to send, I'd guess the Iranians would be seeing lots of Yankee elbows and a'holes scrambling....
no all indians do not look like and nor do they think alike.we however are blood brothers in a phrase tweedle dee and tweedle dum. no we are not hypocrites.we will kill as many moslems as we like but you westerners and imperialists better not try any of that stuff.
Vittorio, there are no Jew-haters here, just haters of those Jews doing bad things to helpless Palestinians and Netanyahu here is at the head of that class. Are you one of those enjoying seeing the Palestinians suffer?
Best post on this thread so far... Let the knee-jerkers post their wild speculations. It will change nothing. Again, thanks for posting actual information instead of raw opinion.
when the egyptians attacked israel across the canal they knew their limitations.they knew they could not do more then cross the canal and then dig trenches hoping to bleed israel in this way.they practised for years and then perfected the operation which they performed impeccably.but you see they knew they could do no more. iran on the other hand was beaten by iraq.the same iraqis british instructors deemed untrainable.
why not just say that the holocaust didnt happen?
Of course they understand, that's why they are doing it.
iranian president." clickfool military axiom .if you are to attack work out if you can absorb the counter blow.iran is rich with targets. you credit the people of the region with far too much.they would not be able to do anything whatever.closing hormuz is a fantasy.
Of course you don't care about Moslem violence because you are a Moslem Indian. Ask any Hindu and pay attention what he will tell you about Moslems and their violence in India and anywhere else.
Interesting. Does anyone have a clue exactly what Clickfool's motives are? I can understand people wanting to say something on TB who have first hand interests in Israel & the ongoing problems. I can't see what Clickfool (& others) are trying to achieve. Annoy some Jews maybe, as he would be unable to at home??? Strange behavior.
Mr. Netanyahu has, finally, come to realize that there can never be peace in the WB (forget about Gaza while Hamas is there) until ALL, ALL Pals there want peace MORE, than killing Israelis. However, there seems to be two groups here (respondents) who are radically opposed to Mr. Netanyahu's leading the country. 1st is those who wish for Kadima to remain in power and 2nd, those who are afraid of him because they realize that there will be no more concessions until ALL, ALL Pals love their own families and peace more, than killing Israeli women and children. With Mr. Netanyahu there will be no talks with the weak Pal left hand while the strong radical right hand continues to hammer Israel. Simple. Once ALL Pals want peace more than the continued extermination of the Jews, there will be peace. Face reality, Israel is not going to just disappear and until ALL Pals want peace, Israel must, MUST defend its people. To apologists Pal life is more important - But Netanyahu feels ALL life is.

Click fool You are FULL of GAS, We CAN MAKE ENARGY OUT of THAT! I think that with all the gas you have in your bally(hoo) we could light up the whole of Sussex, well we could maybe be able to light up Yorkshire too! For once we could put you into some good use, Click fool run to your British scientists and ask them to hook you into the main power grid! What are you waiting for Click fool, go on and be a little useful for a change, Iran is going to close the taps you know, and we shouldn?t pass on such a resourceful source of Energy!
You suffer from Jew envy. You think the whole world is run by Israel and by Jews. Don't be frightened. Nobody will take your cigar
Bibi now regrets and says, "it's me and my big mouth again". Just like in the old "The Honeymooners" sitcom, haha.
Listen people how proud Clickfool is that people keep reading his comments and consider what an 'important' contributor he is to discussions on anything related to Israel. Have you all noticed how Clickfool, from the comfort of his overstuffed armchair in Sussex, England, is willing to attack all Western values and holds the USA, Israel and other free countries in great distain while at the same time admiring the audaciousness of the 9/11 bombers and Ahmedinejad generally. Isn't it nice for Clickfool to live in a nice safe country like the UK and have the freedom to attack anyone and everyone, knowing that his own precious skin will never be at risk!
"More than 50 percent of the Jews world wide are joining humanity and intermarrying and assimilating." What...? marrying into the religion that brought us Global Jihad as a pass-time for youth and whose peaceful majority won't criticise this but instead takes up armchair-jihadi positions and slags off America? Dude you are a joke, even more than you are a joker. Re the US going bankrupt - only morally, by replacing their KKK with hatred-imports like yourself who consider themselves humanity.
PAPER?
Let's see if I got this right... Israel attacks Syria, risks war and then claims Netanyahu is irresponsible???
Better Israel stay quiet in this case. Olmert did something of benefit to Israel and stayed quiet. And, Olmert could use the good press, however he had the discipline to stay quiet. Hopefully, Bibi learns.
How terribly sad that so many respondents here are so determined to be "right" while trying to prove their points with little more than minutiae which really has little to do with the problems at hand. Terror sympathizers/apologists, do not seem to realize that their twisted fantasies and paranoias only encourage the killing of more Israeli and Pal women and children by radical muslim terrorists who could care less about who they kill as long as it serves their purpose. If for no other reason than the lives of the small, innocent children, lets stop throwing stones at each other, set our bigotries/fantasies aside, and try offering some reasonable solutions. Of course, the current Gov. will not listen and terrorists don't care. Maybe, we should concentrate on getting them ALL, out of power so the innocent Israeli, AND PAL, women and children will not have to live in fear. I believe that Mr. Netanyahu has learned from his past mistakes and is the best possible, available, hope for ALL
Why Israel is trying to keep silent about it when in the past, after each successful operation we hear immediate confirmation and celebrations? I think for one of three reasons: 1. Either the operation has been a total failure and the Syrians were right when they asserted that the invading planes where caught red handed and were forced to drop their amunitions and flee. 2. Or the operation has been a total success but Israel has chosen to keep silent in order not to embarass Assad and keep the talk on peace alive. This is unlikely because Israel has shown in the past that it does not care an inch about embarassing what it considers its "enemies"(and likewise) 3. It is possible that the Israelis have no idea whether the operation has been a success or not. They were hoping Syria would say something, but Syria's choice to keep silent has apparently spoiled the occasion and caused confusion... and hence Israel's silence. Will the truth of has happened ever come out? May be.
To prove his masculinity, Macho Mouth has once again shown the Israeli people that he is not worthy to lead their country. Israel needs leaders who speak softly and carry a big stick, not one with a big mouth.
Yes, on Channel 10, CNN News, and a couple of others. More like Chemical facilities. Speculation over nuclear is somewhat tenuous. But, SCUDs with Serin and mustard gas are not.
Who Cares what Labor Party secretary-general, Eitan Cabel says. Labor has done a lousy job for Israeli's. The sooner they have new elections and get rid of Labor and Kadima the better they will be.
Thanks for the info. I copied it to my clipboard. It seems the strike was more then justified.
I'm no huge fan of Bibi. But I don't see why so many of you are criticizing him for being a braggard or leaking information. Bibi didn't say anything different from Olmert's response. That Israel conducted a mission in Syria and we were pleased with the results. That's it! End of story! Got it? Good...
If Mullahs close the straits it will be for a few minutes The Mullahs and their guards will then meet their virgins. Remember brother Nasser he closed the Straits of Tiran and the Suez canal.
Curious, I'm talking about the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and various attempts at it. If you wish to discuss the ethnic cleansing by Arabs, I have no objection so please have Haaretz write an article on it. In the meantime, don't try to move the spotlight away from some very bad things Israel-the-Pure is in the process of doing. I don't wish to offend most Israelis because I know they are against such policies and I admire them for this but there are others in Israel who are orgasming at every act of punishment that the Palestinians are suffering at the hands of some very vicious Israelis. I wish you would be as curious about what your own government is doing to ethnically cleanse the Negev of its Bedouins with over half already out of there to make room for Jewish settlements. What do you call these actions if not cleansing or apartheid?
I personally don't like him as a politician as I find him radical, but I give him credit for being honest this one time. It is no longer a secret if the world outside Israel is aware of it. Only fools deny a broken secret. Bibi is just saying what everybody in Israel already knew... it's no longer a state secret.
Netanyahu was playing politics with his announcement. He took credit for HIMSELF for being a "party" to the raid, which is considered successful. According to an earlier report, he congratulated Olmert for "his initiative". The one person not mentioned by Netanyahu (at least as reported) was BARAK, the Defense Minister. Barak must have been intimately involved. It might even been Barak's initiative and not Olmert's. (Barak is a resourceful man of commando background.) Netanyahu considers Barak to be his main rival for the prime-ministership in the next elections, while Olmert is considered by both to be a politically dead man. Yahoo can afford to give Olmert credit, but not to Barak. With this kind of thinking, Netanyahu was not letting his tongue slip; he took a calculated risk and it was probably worth it for him to be accused of divulging a secret everybody knew, while getting some security credit.
I saw what Clickfool said about Bibi. Whether I agree or not is irrelevant. What is interesting here is that Clickfool is talking as if he CARES about what is happening in Israel (i.e agonizing over its lack of good politicians). In fact he is just using the occasion to throw another barb at Israel and the Israelis and show his true colours. Go on, Clickfool, make my day and say it is not so...
Avi, no attentive ear is waiting for me at AnNahar because it is a pro-government, pro-US and by association a pro-Israel organ. You misunderstood me; I was not saying that all Jews are bloodthirsty but just a few that are enough to be giving you guys a bad image just like at one time plane hijackers were giving Arabs a bad image. Now it's your turn to play the role of the villain because of the war-mongers like Natanyahu wanting the whole world to know that he had something to do with the bogus bombing on Syria. It reminds me a bit of the American bombing of a terrorist building in the Sudan which turned out to be a pharmaceuticals factory. You guys tell so many lies that you end up sincerely believing them. It's easy to spot the bloodthirsty ones, Avi, just read the posts here and on the thread yesterday about cutting the power to Gaza; you guys are like a jamboree of Draculas. Those who aren't shouldn't be offended by my comments.
is that folks should be worked up over an operation that seems small enough so that nothing verifiable has leaked out about it. sure, could be signs of some top-secret skullduggery all sides wish to keep mum about for opposing reasons; or it could be nothing much at all. Bibi is just being Bibi as far as that goes.
You wrote: "If you count the number of contributions I make to Talkback over the course of a day, it's actually far less than many other regulars." In reality (a concept with which I know you are not on the best of terms), by my count you posted, on one thread yesterday (article by Barak Ravid), seventeen times (I believe there were nineteen in your name, but I subtracted two, one for the post in which you noted a fake clickfool and one for the fake clickfool post itself). I believe this number of posts was more (by a pretty good margin) than any other poster on the thread. Counting posts is a rather thankless task, so if my count is off by even one I apologize, but I believe it is accurate, and you (or anyone else) may of course check yourself.
"they are going to use box cutters to close the straits of hormuz?" Oy...... What I am suggesting to you, Benzion, is that the Iranians may respond to US aggression in ways that are completely unexpected and do not require high technology (though they have that in the form of some top-of-the range cruise missiles, bought from Russia and China.). The only way the oil route could be kept open would be for the US to try to shepherd oil tankers in and out in convoys, and even then the oil tankers would not be safe. The US simply doesn't have enough naval power in the Gulf to protect the vast armada of tankers that ply the oil route. Stop harrumphing for war, Benzion - study the maps and work out how you would hit America if you were in the shoes of the Iranian president.
Let us then conclude that you butcher eachother as somethinge else. It does not change the fact that as soon as you have a chance to give in to your racial hatred you take it and start murdering each other. Blaming that on the French wont help. And I have met several Lebanese refugees in my life, the fact that you muslims have made life impossible for your christian compatriots will no go away because you wish to. And Bibi is as much a hero to me as smallpox. His brother was a hero, Bibi is a self deluded schmuck with a hideously big mouth. No go get that Library card.
It is the story about the frog and the scorpio who had to swim over water...it's in his nature to brag, he cannot help himself.
you can go to some really boring TB about your most boring country in the world.
of terrorism being iran's response then my answer is clear and concise: al qaeda had no return address while iran is an alladin's cave of targets.
they are going to use box cutters to close the straits of hormuz?
Interesting, a story that is very important to the region, another killing of a Lebanese memeber of parliament, this means it is six the magic number that will force an election. Fine we understand that Lebanon, has actually turned into a recovery home for those who have had their labotomies fail. But they are still out neighbor and this Syrian assasination opens the path for Syrian proxy domination under the guise of that nasty pudgy autocrat Nasralah. This story is alot more important that Netanyahu disturbing the silence.
Do yourself (And Yes, us too) a favor, go find a more "attentive" hear somewhere else (Annahar anyone?) you will convince noone of your rightousness... well simply because you are just rehashing the same old arguments about bloodthirsty jews. We have grown tired and unimpressed of them, so reactions will be mild if anything.
"if the Iranian`s are so powerful, how come they haven`t wrecked the Western economy yet, by closing Homuz?????" They haven't been attacked yet, Stan, to the best of my knowledge, nor indeed has Iran made any threatening noises to America other than those in response to persistent US sabre rattling.
"if you think that technologically backward iran can close the hormuz straits then your judgement is deeply flawed." What was it that led to the capture of three airplanes and the destruction of the Twin Towers? Oh yes, I remember - box cutters, waved in the air. Iran will attack assymetrically. A wargame conducted recently into a US attack on Iran made for very uncomfortable reading indeed.
How dare Israel defend itself against existential dangers! Imagine having the gall to wipe out Syria's 'peaceful' atomic weapons. The Useless Nations...uh, sorry, the United Nations will be so disappointed.
ONLY ONE state that is not failed. israel is most sucsessfull state in history.
Maimon, I can't stand the local coffee; it's like mud. The powersharing system was a gift of France at independence and it's the worst gift any country could have received. Your idiotic use of the word swine is out of place in your sentence and your ignorance did not make you realize that there is not a single Lebanese refugee in the world, Christian or otherwise and the 6 million you are talking about are citizens of other countries, the majority of which are living in Brazil. Get a book and get an education. After you have gotten this load off your chest, it still does not change the fact that your hero Bibi is a dangerous dodo that many Israelis here do not like at all.
"Who do you think is worse, Netanyahu the proponent of ethnic cleansing or Sharon the creator of apartheid?" Question: Do you mean like the ethnic cleansing of the various leaders in Lebanon 1974-1990 where every group tried to ethnically cleanse the other resulting in an estimated 100,000 ethnically cleansed, and another 100,000 handicapped by injuries and by the end of the war, when nearly every party had allied with and subsequently betrayed every other party Sunni/Shiite/Cristian at least once? Or perhaps you really meant to compare Israel's leaders to the alawite's golden al-Assad boys ethnic "cleansing" of Sunnis culminating in Hama 1982? 25,000 cleansed? Oh yes, perhaps you really meant to compare by illustrating with current examples of other Arab leaders/countries like Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Algeria, Morocco, etc?, where currently Sunni/Shiite/Christian "respect" for ethnic cleansing has shown the path to a brighter "Arab future free of apartheid." One more question: HYPOCRISY?
give me a break - the extreme-left Israeli media considers this a front- page story?? Bibi coul send Rosh Hashana greetings and the media would crucify him. How about some articles about repentance on Yom Kippur??
Pray tell us Clickfool, if the Iranian's are so powerful, how come they haven't wrecked the Western economy yet, by closing Homuz????? Sounds like yet more hot air & rhetoric.... All they seem to be capable of is kidnapping british sailors - & pretty pathetic sailors at that!
Micahel M this the arrogance and impunity that the USA and its watchdog assign to themselves. However, such hubris cannot lost. Iraq and Afghanistan will bleed USA white. Invade Syria and Iran and Iraq will seeem like a picnic by comparison.
we are by now well acquainted with iraqi capabilities.they are untrainable say british officers. yet they thrashed iran.need i say more clickfool?
Esther, greetings fair lady; don't start celebrating yet as those that appear to be out of the picture or out of the race could be the most dangerous. Look at that pit bull Bolton and how he is weaving his magic all over the Middle-East now doing his best to stir up trouble.
clickfool the usa has a massive amount of naval power in the region.if you think that technologically backward iran can close the hormuz straits then your judgement is deeply flawed.
their passenger aircraft.they fall from the sky like flies.the whole of the iranian general staff travels by jeep and limousine. does that clickfool give you a hint as to iranian capabilities?
Hannah, she has finally arrived, the one that impersonates you from Tel Aviv. I call her Hanna from Tel Aviv because her writing style is undeniable. When she is out of arguments she resorts to name-calling. She is also sending messages to Dana under another name calling herself "Wolf at your Door" and you can also add from Tel Aviv to that name.
When Israel blasted Saddam's nuke, Begin told the world WHY Israel did it. And the world respected him. There is NO point hiding it.
You live in a land whoose powersharing system is solely built - by law - on ethnic belonging. This to keep the different ethnicities from butchering eachother like swine. You live in ME:s most racist country (well except of course that all of you hate Jews) and you feel the urge to critizice Israel?? Please explain to me again why the world is replete with Lebanese christian refugees.
Benzion is either an idiot or just ignorant.. which means don't pay attention to his comments. This said, Natalie, you are also quite ignorant of international law. Comparing the reasons for "Lebanon 2006, the Sequel" and what might the Syrians' reaction be is ludicrous. I don't have to go into details as it is pretty obvious. I do agree that Iran has enormous potential for causing an all-out war in the region and beyond, mostly because it has a lot more freedom of action than other western (democratic?) countries. Also in this case, Israel will have the duty to make a preemptive attack on its capabilities with all the collateral damage that might ensue. If indeed Syria has been preparing to attack its southern neighbour then Israel was justified in its action. We will surely find out shortly
This is a good example of how the Olmert government and incompetent media divert public attention away from real issues. The people of Sderot are living intolerable lives under attacks from Gaza. Israel's sovereignty is violated daily by Gaza terrorists. Israel's official position is that nothing can be done to stop the rockets, they are part of the natural order of things like the rising of the sun. Olmert is running the old shell game to divert attention from his incompetence and an equally incompetent media plays along.
"that give you a hint natallie about the capabilities of the iranians?" Just remember, Benzion, that Iran has the ability to close the Gulf oil route, and to keep it closed if it is attacked. It has the ability to bring economic ruin on America and the West. Just remember, too, that the leaders of Iran have already told us they will go for America.s oil jugular if they are attacked.

I agree on everything you said, yet... I will add that all religions are false! But Islam is probably the worst... not because its "holy" books engage in hatred, primitive beliefs and other innanities, but because its followers indeed follow its "message" while other religions (Judaism included) have somewhat restrained the application of the word. Just a thought.......
The guy just can't help it. To all those who cry kol hakavod, I ask, kol hakavod for what?
"Given the number and contents of your postings on Haaretz` talkback" I take this as a compliment, Ziggurat. If you count the number of contributions I make to Talkback over the course of a day, it's actually far less than many other regulars. What you're telling me is that my posts are memorable, hit home and that you read them, Ziggurat. Thanks.
i wonder natallie durson if the fbi knows about your keen support for iran.the fbi may recall that your heroes murdered 255 american marines in beirut.they may be surprised at your enthusiasm for things iranian.
this nation iran you are so fond of has to go to famine stricken north korea to buy long range rockets.does that give you a hint natallie about the capabilities of the iranians?
If ever there was a silly dispute, it is this one, including the talkback crowd. It reminds me of why I read Haaretz regularly, to raise my blood pressure not for insight. I think that Haaretz writes kooky stories and invites kooky responses to increase circulation. It is a marketing gimmick that works.
Hey andy, sorry but your post is simply disengenuous. I understand that came straight from your Hate gland, but please when spewing in the future make sense and be honest. Israel happens to be the best and longest running show in a long time. Check out the box office numbers, see what Al Jazeera and the others daily fixate on, that's right my intrepid film goer, it is Israel. It even is capable of driving you to send our little Zionist sponsored forum emails. I was wondering did you send an email to the makers of "Diehard #3" voicing your opinions? I doubt it, you are attracted to this story, the blood, the politics the horrors and the joys, now what we need is a good ole fashion screen kiss.
"iran and syria can play all sorts of tricks on israel" but natallie the iranians are not too familiar with test tubes and bunsen burners.israel is an advanced nation with the best technology in the world.iran has to transport its long range rockets on donkeys.
in a turkey shoot.you have killed tens of thousands.so why the hypocrisy?
Having lived in Israel during the Bibi 'era', I can confirm that Clickfool is only partly correct. Sadly for Bibi, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is certainly not stupid - it is quite a political feat to return as leader, & a popular one at that. I suspect Clickfool is envious in that Bibi is a rich, famous person, with real political clout. If he becomes PM, he has the potential to change world history through a deal. Clickfool, on the other hand, is probably (in)famous only at Haaretz, has zero political clout, & no prospect whatever of changing history. However, he has something Bibi does not have - (far too much) spare time to obsessively post garbage to a Zionist newspaper!
I am not talking about Hanna from so-called Canada, who is squatting on the land of native Americans.
still we don't know what he's speaking about and so is BB himself, which is something usual for him.
Aaron, i think you do not have your facts strait. North-communist Koreans did not succeed as you suggest, China flooded the country with Chinees troops after the communist koreans had been over-run by us troops all the way up to the Chinese border. I guess it is too tempting for the Comm. Chinese to murder so many of their own people by sending them as cannon fodder into U.S. guns-A good way for them to gain some population control. very sad, for those chinese, and today's north koreans who are being starved and who may be eating human flesh, forced by that same sick leader who seems to be helping syria with nuclear weapons. Viatnamese changed their tune when the u.s finally started bringing the fight into north viatnam by bombing their cities. North vietnam only won when the u.s. politics moved to pull the u.s. troops out, kind of like what liberals are suggesting they do in Iraq today.
Ariel Sharon Would have Dismissed him immediatley!!!
Can we stop the childish behavior? Can Israeli Journalists do their jobs by reporting objectvely? Can Politicians not give interviews wto journalists with well known and well expressed political views? that is the first 2 steps to stop this nonsense.
a devoute muslem will curse an infidel in an efficient way by going to mecca and circling 7 times clockwise and 7 times counterclokwise the big stone while repeating the curse at the beginning and the ending of each tour, then by going to mount arafat and speating 4 times in all directions. wish you success.
against the armenians.is that: 1 racism 2 political correctness 2 pure hypocrisy
AS WE HAVE DISCUSSED BEFORE- She is the run of the mill California. far lefty, pinko wack job, who hates her own country, Isreal and all that democratic/capitalist countries stand for. She is the defender of ALL who would destroy us.
What a relief that Netanyahu is now out of the PM race, and out of the loop altogether.
What syria is doing now is promoting constant threat to israel, via lebenon, destabilizing Lebennon, and demanding the Golan to which it has no rights. Syria lost the Golan heights according to international law by attacking israel in 67. Just today another anti-Syrian Lebenase official was assassinated. Syria is not a free nation, instead it is a haven for every murderous terrorist that hates israel or the US. God knows Syria has got it coming (I think it is Isaiah 17?). There is another strike agains Syria-it is a haven for that false religion of the sword, Islam.
remember Olmert's slip when he said Israel also has nuclear weapons, hmm, so it is hypocritical for him to criticise Bibi.
Rub Syrias nose in it and humiliate them for his own political agrandisement.
The Israeli attack upon Syria was certainly more provocotive than the Hizbollah attack was upon Israel. We all remember how Israel responded to the Hizbollah attack, although Israels supporters may not want to remember too much. If Israel was testing the Syrian air defense, then perhaps they learned something, although the Syrians, no doubt, learned more. If Israel is announcing their intention to go far and wide in the mideast, destroying possible "WMD" sites, it gives much scope to Syria and Iran to have some fun. There are all manner of tricks they can play, if they are at all devious.
Well let?s see, Well she was the one that armed Hizb. In Lebanon, Well she is still doing it, otherwise how do you explain Hizb. Getting to its hands on so many missiles that are equal to what it had before the Lebanon war started? I guess you think Israel armed Hizb. Well sorry to disappoint you it comes through Syria! Dana continues to be a Syrian a Hizb a Hamas supporter, But please do us a favor leave your fake Name on the register, Come up with your own name for a change! We promise you will get the same treatment if you do so!
quite closely just to see who would be the the first "politician" to try to make some personal gain from the matter. For several weeks I was quite proud of our, otherwise quite opportunistic MKs, to see that they all were able to keep their, usually big mouthes shut. But, no, here come Bibi and tells us the he was part of the action.....???!!! What a pathetic and lowlife figure he is. I suppose that he just had to do it.
The word 'neocon' brands you immediately as an unthinking picker up of unconsidered trifles. You will notice that all serious commentators avoid it.
What a waste of words. You should write for one of those magazines that cater for people who cook and catch fish and repair motorcycles. Your little bit of unsophisticated political knowledge is exactly at their level. To them you'd sound profound. To us, you sound envious, prejudiced and ignorant.
You are such an incredibly boring, dull people.
You can't see through walls, no matter how much you pretend. Take off that Superman cloak and those tights show your bulging stomach and all that lumpy arse of yours. Have some self respect, at least.
Hannah, Cipora is the biggest admirer of the thug, Netanyahu; she considers him the savior of the Jewish people. Who do you think is worse, Netanyahu the proponent of ethnic cleansing or Sharon the creator of apartheid?
Hannah Israel is not so called ISRAEL IS-REAL can't you read?
i believe that the "brain" of a person cannot be 24 hours a day activo with the "radar" on . and need some rest ,in that lapsus of time any stupidity can occur.. i dont like you any more mr natanyahu jb
The language of the politicians criticising Bibi is on the lowest level. All that is only one day before Yom Kipur. It would be better if they pray for him and ask for his forgivness.
So you finally got together.... mazeltov!
What does it matter that Bibi has told us that Israel attacked Syria? What difference does it make? Why get so angry about it? Or maybe Labour and Kadima members have been charged with writing into Haaretz negatively about Bibi for electoral gain in Israel. This morning, the BBC correspondent described Syria as a "chemical weapons superpower". The brilliant and informative post by e.m. #19, which no one, but no one, has bothered to appreciate, supports this BBC view. Israel is sitting next to a chemical weapons superpower. Israel is a democracy. Citizens matter in a democracy. They should know something, not nothing. Bibi told them something, the barest minimum.
Guys, did you forget Olmert's blurt on TV last December that Iran "...aspires to posses nuclear weapons like US, France, Israel and Russia." People who live in tin houses shouldn't throw can openers!
Netanyahu has long been an inspiration to everything and everyone sick and evil about Israel. Yigal Amir, when arrested after his crime quoted from Netanyahu's Knesset vitriolic speeches since they were always filled with hate propaganda carefully studied to incite violence. In a 89 speech, Netanhahu said that Israel should have used the opportunity of the Tiananmen Square massacres to transfer out the Palestinians while the whole world's attention was turned on China and he has come out and openly declared that he was not in favour of any Palestinian state, something that even the pit bull Sharon has not done. He is the prime example of an Israeli sicko filled to the brim with hate and he is no better than the terrorists he talks about all the time to attract other sickos of like thinking to him. Sharon was an amateur compared to him when it came on how to more efficiently mistreat the Palestinians.
"Look at me, everyone! See how important I am! Come on - you remember me, don`t you? I was crap then, but I`ll try harder next time." Given the number and contents of your postings on Haaretz' talkback, it seems you are talking about yourself too, clicky.
If # 75 is correct, then a cloud of toxic gas would have been detected by now in the region. But nothing has been seen so far. Why is that ?
There is absolutely no doubt that Syria has been accumulating many tons of deadly chemical agents over the years, as well as scuds of various forms to deliver chemical warheads. The case for nuclear weapons has not yet been made. Nevertheless, the chemical and biological weapons, in the hands of murderous Syria is a direct threat to Israel. I give you this information gratis.
Let's see the photos taken by the striking fighter jets, before and after the attack .
It's about time a bold and cuorageous politician broke the silince. The Israeli government should take responsibility for it's actions - both successes and failures. The details of the operation were not disclosed so why the hush hush ?
Media reports state, early September 2007, an American B-52 bomber loaded with nuclear warheads was sent to Barksdale AFB. Barksdale AFB is said to be the stop before the Middle East. Curious? Regards.
...Netanyahu admission of IAF strike enrages J'lem... I think this is a FORMAL retaliation from Likud to Olmert statements a couple of months ago that Israeli has nuclear weapons.
You know nothing except that you hate Israel, previously you knew that and now we know it.
let them all write and apologise to us now!
You really sound like a fool. Not one European or Arab country has condemned the Israeli strike. If you think that those countries do not know what was targeted, then think again. Syria has many tons of deadly chemical weapons. Jane's Defense magazine reported that an accident occurred last July when they tried to mount a chemical warhead on a scud. Dozens of Iranians and Syrian officers died from the ensuing nerve gas dispertion. In case you have forgotten, Saddam had already used deadly nerve gas both against the Kurds and against Iran. Sorry, Dana, but the Arabs have no one but themselves to blame.
So, another attempt by Israel to instigate a new military confrontation in a bid to wipe clean the fiasco of the 2006 Lebanon war. Has anyone seen any sattelite images of the alleged "nuclear" facilities ? Of course not! Was that air-atttack devised to test the Syrian air defences for an operation aimed at Iran ? Neither Turkey nor Jordan would allow Israeli fighter jets to fly over their territories to Iran.
To paraphrase your silly, coquettish, victimized and ever-so-boring zionist neurotic projection, I will truthfully say that the so-called Israeli regime is one of the most pernicious in the world. It is a clear danger to world peace.
The entire world knows exactly and precisely what so-called Israel did last week, and why. Do you zionist not read the foreign press? Your fishbowl has transparent walls, and what you can't see and won't say is certainly apparently to everyone else. Such provincialism!
"Army Radio Labor Party secretary-general, Etan Cabel" I was unaware that Army Radio maintained a Labor Party and that its secretary general is named "Etan." ;)
and the whole world will know what's going on even in his bedroom! this man is a security threat to the state and therfore should be taken into custody instead on a minister's seat!
Bibi once again proves himself to have a problem with his mouth-brain connection. And he wants to be the prime minister?????????????
a very vivid description of israel in the middle east.ehud barak made the comment.
Those people here in the Haaretz forum mostly cry for war and fight each other instead of doing a fine discuccion. They do monologues! Like their leaders! So when someone says: I am from USA and we have weapons our enemy cannot dream of...I can only advise to listen to their own history. Korea and Vietnam were countries with really old weaponry. But the had nationalist fighting spirit. USA came around the globe to their homecountries to devastate them. But they fighted for a free home country and out of that evolves a strong power. Dont underestimate this part of human nature. The soviets killed a hundred of thousands of afghans, but did they stop to fight the intruders? And let this said: The Taliban got their power from the USA TAX payer. They were only a part of the struggle to get domination after the soviet left Afghanistan. But OIL, especially the companu UNOCAL wanted in 1995 the taliban as a national security force for the oil industry! Burgas were no problem at this point.
we are aware of global warming and wish to do our part. we noted nathan rai and his view that hindu citizens in the towns of bhatkal, mallipuram and kasargod are under threat from moslems in the area.nathan rai wrote that hindus feel extremely threatened. we however do not care about moslem violence in india.we are more interested in fighting the west and sticking it to the white man.
Bibi has once again proved his overbearing desire for self promotion. this at the cost of a very wise silence on the part of the irsaeli leadership about the syrian operation.... arrst the moron and throw the key away
on the one hand you would have it that israel failed in its mission over syria and now you tell us natanyahu is showing off.well which is it?only a logical answer would be accepted.
is flawed.as is his personality. his family have been a great asset to the state but we all have our limitations.natanyahu is not prime minister material.
Nothing to say that hasn't been said before. The man is a buffoon, and should be politically ostracized.
alongside Mofaz. There are many others as well but these two are the high-level bloodthirsty politicians for whom the lives of any non-jew is ABSOLUTELY valueless (apart from those who serve directly Israeli priorities). The good thing about Bibi is that he never tries to be politically correct. He says that the population increase of the Israeli Arbas is a threat, so you do not call this racism, if I say anything about jews, it is racism ??? Well as I always say, I wish a very painful pancreatic cancer for him, the sooner the better.
"The constant reports of Syrian accumulation of chemical weapons, and now of nuclear capabilities are most alarming for the entire region." (CJK) And, as Mark Lincoln likes to point out (and has done so to you on numerous occasions), all the "reports" lead back to the same dubious sources, some discredited several times over, others with clear and present agenda. Do you always believe everything you are told without checking sources? perhaps, instead of believing in boogey-men everywhere, you could spend some time researching just what those frightening 'capabilities" were... "The Syrian regime is one of the most pernicious in the world. It is a clear danger to world peace." (CJK) When it comes to either pernicious or danger to world peace, it's a cake walk - israel takes the cake! just what did Syria do to you lately, other than professing its desire for peace with israel, and giving shelter to over 1M of Iraqi refugees created by a murderous criminal neocon brain of uncle sam?
and big egos... I am amazed how many intelligent people are blind to this obvious fact, and the simple generality of small vs big.
Once a salesman, ever a salesman, but this time Bibi just over-sold himself......
Bomb those muslims, eh? why not? add another million casualties to the 700,000+ dead iraqis, another 1 M wounded and 5M refugees (out of 26M population), and 2 countries devastated (Iraq and US, each in its own way), thanks to the efforts of the evil juggernaut in washington, his neo-con bomb loving advisors and fine upstanding citizens like you. Now why should I not consider YOU Michael, a poster boy for neocon fascists everywhere, to be a war criminal? what's the difference between your cheerleading mayhem and say the Turks with their armenians? or the germans with their jews and gypsies? Some might mistake you for just another low life balcony exterminator in a long tradition of self-righteous Stalinesque, pol-pottish, evil loonies... And I'll bet anything that you think suicide bombing is very bad indeed.. (I know, it has lots of civilian collateral damage).
Well, Bibi's PM election campaign started prematurely, and on the wrong foot. He so clearly showed the electorate how irresponsible he can be, and how dangerous his misjudgements could be. It's not the first time in his life that lack of self-restraint has led him into trouble.....
Bibi, or should I write, Baby, when will you grow up? Sometimes, when the government acts in the interests of the security of the nation, not everybody has to know.
"Even more curious he should be somewhat complimentary - and condescending - in doing so.["breaking the "siltence"]" (dana) Noted the condescending tone myself, and the guarded comlimentarity. Another reason it is likely that the "operation" - such as it was - is considered to be less than a resounding success, whatever the goal was. So this was classic NethanYahoo. Braggery and skulduggery - all for the worthy goal of self-promotion. In israel this passes now for preemptory strike. The combination of this with the 'revelations' about mysterious nuclear activities of non-specified countries in the same article, may indicate the fast and furious spinning efforts now underway to invent a 'worthy" target after the fact, as well as post-partum spin of the success in annihilating said non-target. All this hoopla for remnants of Saddam's pathetic nuclear program, which israel always claimed were spirited out of the country prior to the invasion? Yellow Nigerian cake anyone?
I sure won't VOTE FOR THIS BIG MOUTHED CHARACTER.
"Political sources said Tuesday that "once again Netanyahu couldn't restrain himself and he ran to tell the guys."" Look at me, everyone! See how important I am! Come on - you remember me, don't you? I'm the guy who was once Prime Minister! I was crap then, but I'll try harder next time. Come on - give me a break, please! I'm an important chap - see how I get told about things....
Olmert the deaf. Barak the dumb. Netenyahu the blind.... Or is it Netenyahu the deaf. Olmert the dumb. Barak the blind. Or is it.....
Olmert has taken no credit as he still is cautious of Syrian response that could be very damaging and will rather explain the need for the mission after the response than grandstand now making him look foolish after the response. - If one comes that is meaningful. Bibi is foolish in that he thinks the "danger zone" is over and that politicians can already take credit for this as it was a success and i applaud it fully. However there is no damage done as the Govent has full deniability despite bibi's comments and all know the truth anyway. The sad thing is that his comments should make us feel safer as they imply that Syria is not really a threat at the moment! In fact they worry me that Olmert was foolish, weak and incapable to the extent that he discussed this with the oppoision leader (if Bibi is to be believed). This is hard to believe in fact ! Finally all stupid comments that this destabilises the region and relations with Syria are obviously nonesense as we are on the brink
time for a nuclear strike eh? yes, bush is very clever, he rescinds USA's committment to not striking first with nuklar weapons... but eh he his "smart" bombs are not really nuclar because they are only nukloor tipped eh eh.. the bunker buster. So there you have Michael... we are so so clever, aren't we? and damned hypocrites. why not pursue disarmament instead of pursuing your damned murderous agenda?
A "devastating surprise" from syria? Oh, let's rush to give back the Golan, and then Israel will have peace with them! How does peace look now?
The constant reports of Syrian accumulation of chemical weapons, and now of nuclear capabilities are most alarming for the entire region. The Syrian regime is one of the most pernicious in the world. It is a clear danger to world peace.
I can't stand Bibi, but really, does anyone seriously think that he would say something on television about this without being asked to do so? I imagine that this is a prelude to the story finally coming out from official sources. It should be interesting.
Yenta, yenta, yenta...
But Bibi could not resist the opportunity to put himself in the limelight, even if it meant exposing a military mission. His transparent motives have once again shown who he really is. Poor Bibi needs a little glory in order to keep himself afloat and his self-image is his main priority. We should keep that in mind when we replace Olmert.
It is believed that Israel may have bombed a nuclear facility in Syria, that North korea was helping with. Spy satellites were involved with this strike. It was a warning to Iran! The United States has troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, on both sides of Iran. We have multiple air-craft carriers in the area and weapons that Iran could never even dream of. Iran and Syria both shall pay for supporting terrorism. Iran, we have satellite photos of your nuclear facilities. We will blow them to the damn ground, if you don't stop your nuclear program. We have troops all around Iran. It is time to strike now!
Bibi is the one with the guts to get it done, get him in charge already...he has the hutsphah to deal with wack jobs that want the destruction of Isreal
Bibi saw Olmert's paltry ratings experience a slight rise due to the actions in Syria; so he had to advertise his involvment as well. Pathetic.
Israel and instability walk hand in hand. Israelis are always told to be afraid. This keeps The failed generals keep a job. Backyard politicans will always fight over who looks better in army uniform and butchers more. What a failed state this darling is proving to be.
He has leaked nothing.
He is more concerned with personal interests than national interests. This is not the time for him, or anyone else, to comment on what happened in Syria. Nothing is gained by him doing so except him gaining political points, which is why it is very selfish for him to have done this. He needs to start acting like a national leader, not like a small-timing politician.
How sad that Mr. Netanyahoo has to compromise Israeli secrets for his own political agenda.
So, it has been confirmed. Israel can attack Syria. An attack aimed at Supposedly Nuclear items. Now I wait. The rules have been set by Israel. It is alright to attack each others facilities. By these rules, it will be alright for Syria to attack the Israeli Nuclear Facilities. Dimona. What will the fall out from this be?? How arrogant. You threaten the peace of the whole world with your actions.
MEN LIKE YOU, Carry a big STICK & use IT to free the World of this escalating Brutality of the MUSLIM FANATICAL MONKEY Crap. Reality Check (yes, you definitely need one) always the same old pig slop coming out of your mouth;
Like, what was attacked, raided, hit, taken out, or what??
Excellent comments.
What an idiot, and what an egocentric shmock, to use Israel's security for his own miserable political promotion.
No. It is showmanship and grandstanding. If he goes to be the next prime minister of Israel, then congratulation to his party and to those who vote for him. They deserve what they get -
Military aggression is not "bravery", especially when it is a violation of international law. Real bravery is working with one's neighbors to find common ground and decrease animosity. Do you believe that Syria will be more likely to think that Israel is a just society that they can live with?
Kashkeshan! in another place and another time your big mouth would have got you out of the order!
It is curious that Bibi who wants Olmert's job should be the one to break the silence. Even more curious he should be somewhat complimentary - and condescending - in doing so.
I'm not a Bibi hater but this makes him look childish
it sounds like a good joke ...
He just couldn't resist being the one to talk about this first, and try to claim some credit and ministerial credibility. This guy is just so sickening.
Well, I guess it would be good if all those who supported this war crime would raise their hand.
initiative in the declaration of the core issues in Washington - that's the real test. I hope Condoleezza Rice will persuade Netanyahu when she meets with him as well to support President Bush's Road Map. That's another important item to support, not just military initiatives.
If they bombed Syria or NOT. If they bombed Lebanon and broke the sound barrier or NOT. If they sold bullets to the US troops in Iraq to kill Iraqis or NOT. If they starve, kill and injure the Palestinians or NOT. More than fifty percent of the young Jews in the U.S, the Zionist political stronghold and the handler of the money purse do not consider themselves related to "Israel." More than 50 percent of the Jews world wide are joining humanity and intermarrying and assimilating. The war in Iraq is now exposed and most of the world and specifically in the United States know that its scenario was written, developed and executed by the Zionists. Give it 30-40 years unless the US goes bankrupt earlier and Israel will be just like Rhodesia...do you even know what Rhodesia is. Go online, read, learn and STOP DREAMING.
Israel formally admitted that she conducted a mission and was pleased with the outcome right after it happened. Did Bibi add anything to that? Not according to the Haaretz article. So what's the big deal???
Joe Hubris is followd by nemesis.
Proximity of explosion at Syrian plant to site of 'Israeli air strike' startling Ronen Bergman Published: 09.19.07, 22:00 / Israel Opinion In September 2002, a western intelligence source expressed great concern over a development which he warned could ultimately change the balance of terror in the Middle East. This was when Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper first exposed the chemical missile facility in al-Safir, Syria, and reported that Iran is assisting Damascus in significantly upgrading its ground-to-ground missiles. Under Bashar Assad's regime, Syria's non-conventional armament effort was significantly boosted. Satellite images produced especially for Yedioth Ahronoth via the world's best commercial surveillance satellite company, Digital Globe, revealed the large-scale complex the Syrians have built for manufacturing chemical weapons: Sarin and VX nerve gases. The site also houses innovative Scud missiles types C and D that can reach any spot in Israel. Compared to former satellite images, vast changes are evident at the site as well as a massive construction effort ? particularly in areas related to the new Scud missile type D. The missile is manufactured elsewhere but is stored in underground tunnels in al-Safir. The giant site spans dozens of kilometers and comprises several sites surrounded by high fences and patrol roads. The images reveal the vast chemical weapon manufacturing area, its storage area in reinforced concrete bunkers, the area where the missiles are stored, and ground-to-air missile batteries defending the site. Latest in series of accidents The satellite images detected four chemical weapon production sites: The first is located north of Damascus; the second is adjacent to the city of Humas, the third in Hama ? and apparently manufactures VX, Sarin and Tabun gas, and the fourth in al-Safir. The images clearly identify the cooling towers typical of chemical weapons manufacturing facilities. During the complex manufacturing process, highly toxic agents must be removed and the system cooled. The images reveal a powerful power plant that attests to massive industrial activity. Syria is using its growing pharmaceutical industry in order to purchase materials related to its chemical warfare development, as this is a field where distinctions cannot be made between civilian and military projects. The accident in al-Safir - as reported by Jane's Magazine ? is the latest in a series of accidents: In 1991 the Syrian Health Ministry was forced to close down five pharmaceutical plants due to "complaints by civilians and doctors" that the products "did not meet the required regulations." Nonetheless, the proximity of the explosion in al-Safir and the reports in the foreign media in recent weeks about an "Israeli strike" in a nearby arae is nothing short of amazing. Western intelligence is not entirely clear about how the line of command and control over the missile system works. It is known that there is a missile administration in Syria which is an autonomic, prestigious and independent body. An officer with the rank of general, subordinated to the chief of staff, heads the administration, but in fact will only launch missiles at the president's order. The scientific arm responsible for Syria's knowledge and missile production is the Scientific Study Research Center (SSRC). They can be contacted at POB 4470, Damascus. They can also be reached by phone at: 963-11-772-603, or faxed at 963-11-2223771. Yet behind this seemingly innocent name hides the agency in charge of the manufacture of ballistic missiles. The center also handles a great part of the knowledge and acquisition of equipment worldwide
Yes.. your airplanes flew with a mistake into syrian airspace, got locked on, panicked, dumped their munitions and fuel so that they could get out of there before a real incident occured, and you guys are applauding this while the western military industrial complex claps it hands in delight knowing that more israeli and arabs are going to get killed so that the US, France, UK and Germany can sell more weapons.. Your being used
bullies are scared people. Israel, forever will be America's bully puppet!
I say Amen! to no.1.Bibi is nothing more than a loudmouthed opportunist that one can't take seriously.Olmert was getting too much credit which is his prerogative as Prime Minister. I still officially don't know what happened,
Israel is in troubles if it can't justify the raid. Now Israel has no other option than tell the world details.
This guy should have stayed in Philadelphia (which he is a native of)...what is he doing there? israel for israelis!!!
#1 is right. Bibi should learn to keep his mouth closed.
Thank g-d it was true, way to go Israel, IDF!
I didn't know that the leader of the Opposition was an "Israeli Official".
This claim from Bibi has no other goal then trying to get the benefit of this decision... That proves he will never be a state man, just a big ego with a large mouth, and a huge personal ambition.
If Netanyahu, went along with Olmert then he's following a good path, after all!
It's a singualar content,from the plural!Nice one,indeed!I love language.
Why did he come out of sig?It looks like they figured out something! Its like Daniel, grappling with the melkut of Babylon. Both Syria and Babylon speak "Aramaic."And Jesus, spoke Aramaic when He said"It's Finnished"(shalam)!
Olmert said he did not know anything about it. He also says he is not going to divide Jerusalem..mmmm
Weather he's timed this announcement for his own political gain or not, the fact is that he's only confirming what every one knows, that Israel carried out an attack in Syria. He hasn't given a clue as to what was the target, the mission's success,(or failure),... just that it was in the interest of national security. Kol Hakavod to the IAF!
Bibi Haters will say... Bibi waited two weeks, saw the public approval for the mission and only then decided to take partial credit for the decision... Olmert Haters will say... Olmert couldn't make the clutch decision and had to rely on the opposition to guide him to the right move... The neutral will say... Maybe they put politics aside and did what was in the best interest of our beautiful country... Endless ways to speculate. Either way. Highest praise to the IAF for their acts of bravery!
that should never ever gos to your mind that try to surprise Israel
When will you learn to keep your huge mouth shut?
