Israeli woman, 70, found dead in Sinai
Report comes amid warnings issued last week by counterterrorism unit of concrete terror threats.
By Barak Ravid and Haaretz Correspondent Tags: Egypt SinaiA 70-year-old Israeli woman was found dead Wednesday in Sinai, according to a border police report.
Foreign Ministry officials said in response they had contacted Egyptian authorities to verify the report.
The report came amid warnings issued last week by the government's counterterrorism unit of concrete terror threats against Israelis traveling abroad, especially in Sinai, Thailand and Turkey.
While the Counter Terrorism Bureau already issued the warning a month ago, it chose to reiterate it ahead of the Jewish High Holidays at the end of September, a time when many Israelis vacation abroad.
The bureau, a branch in the Prime Minister's Office, advised Israelis currently in Egypt, and in particular in Sinai, to leave immediately.
