Yair Lapid displayed the kind of political courage on Tuesday evening that has thus far been missing from the current Israeli election campaign.

To the religious he acts like religion is important to him and he has even got a rabbi running as his number two. To seculars he says he wants the haredi to serve in the army and all the other anti haredi things the seculars like to hear. To voters he is trying to poach from Likud he is a tough talker and for the left the peace process is top priority and he won't join any coalition that doesn't make the peace process its priority. The man has no ideology he care only about his own career and he will join any government no matter what their policies are so long as the government pays the price he demands. With any luck Lapid and his party which is based on his celebrity will be a here today gone tomorrow one and provided he stays out the media give it 4-5 years when Lapid is no longer a household name because he is on tv and he is just another politician I imagine he will. The man cares nothing for the country, he doesn't believe in anything but himself and so is just not the kind of person who should be in the Knesset if we want serious government of the people.
