Why does Meretz get so little love from its constituents on the Israeli left?
You would expect Israelis with a liberal worldview to flock to the only party to flaunt the 'leftist' label. So why don't they?
Many Israelis believe that if the Knesset elections were decided by the media's votes alone, left-wing party Meretz would win a majority and its chairwoman, Zahava Galon, would be forming the next government. If this myth were anywhere near true, the only party of the Zionist left would at least be getting a bit more attention from the local press. But, alas, it's not and the press is currently focused...
