A Show About Nothing: The Issues That Should Have Dominated the Election Campaign but Didn’t

Netanyahu and his numerous challengers have so much to fight over – from dealing with the Iranian threat and the relationship with the U.S. to housing prices and electoral reform. But all these pivotal issues were absent from the agenda, largely thanks to the media that did little to stir a substantive debate.

Foreign television networks are finally taking a bit of belated interest in Tuesday’s election and are asking what for them is the most obvious question – what were the central issues of the campaign? Good question. Were there any issues in this campaign at all?
