o.k, now as for the golans and the 67 war, i have read many non-jewish accounts of what happened, seems the syrians and egyptians stopped when they got to their destination, regardless israel attacked, stephen, there are many stories, but this was confirmed by one menachem begin, and i'll quote him " ?In June 1967, we had a choice. The Egyptian army concentrations in the Sinai approaches do not prove that [Egyptian President] Nasser was really about to attack us. We must be honest with ourselves. We decided to attack him.? , they just wanted their land back, israel abused the moment, another insight, "Few remember the words of the Irgun terrorist Menachem Begin, later Israeli prime minister?as Israelis, much like Americans, prefer to be led by terrorists and war criminals?who admitted in 1982 ?that Israel had fought three wars in which it had a ?choice,? meaning Israel started the wars,? according to Donald Neff, writing for the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. ", we know .

It's amazing that Israelis can still think of themselves as being the underdog when they have the 5th largest army in the world, including a huge nuclear arsenal, and are a regional superpower with the unqualified support of the world's only global superpower. Yet, somehow, many Israelis believe that they are "David" rather than Goliath. Denial and self-delusion are powerful forces.

I understand the intricacies well. I lived on the Golan Heights at one time. In the West we believe that all problems have solutions if only enough good will and effort is applied. It may be that some problems cannot be solved. In the Arab Israeli conflict, moderates ?especially on the Arab side- have been marginalized by the intractable violence and there may not be anybody to make peace with. Actions have consequences. Syria gets what it deserves. Name even one time that Syria has helped us. Syria continuously facilitates the movement of jihadist fighters into Iraq. Do you know the history of Syria?s loss of the Golan? In 1965 the Arab League voted to assist Syria in the diversion of the headwaters that feed the Jordan River in an effort to deprive Israel of its water supply. The result was a series of ever escalating artillery and air exchanges between Syria and Israel culminating in the 1967 war. Syria is an Assad family dictatorship and you should not expect Israel to return a substantial asset- the Golan Heights- for a piece of paper. The Israeli panhandle ? the area around the Sea of Galilee- cannot be defended if the Golan is in hostile hands. Haven?t you learned by now that Israel will not be coerced by violence into making concessions that are existential threats to Israel? It may be possible to destroy Israel, but not intimidate it. Several years ago Barak withdrew from Lebanon in the hope that that would end the violence with Hezbollah, but not because Israel was intimidated. Some may disagree with that. Encouraging Arab violence on the part of those who claim to support the Arab position is a mistake and does not serve the interests of the Arabs. Missile warfare worked for Hezbollah but the consequences were that south Lebanon and south Beirut were heavily damaged. Missile warfare may work for Syria. We know that Syria has an underground factory that produces Sarin nerve gas and is trying to perfect an airburst warhead for its missiles. But do you have any idea what Israel will do in response to a high-casualty attack?

His wardrobe is hilarious too! Shi'ite filled turkey and no one wants to take him home. ( Until the IDF decides it's his time and they take him out like a bag of smelly garbage.)

israel has a goal stephen, as we continuosly see, this is to aquire as much land, occupy it and cry holocaust ( not that i deny the holocaust ever happened, just question the amount ), the people of the world see and know this, although their politicians will have you believe otherswise, politicians DON'T speak for everyone after being voted in, we in oz land are letting our poli's know they screwed up and we don't support the terrorism now brought about on iraqis, most here do not like the israelis and americans, it is just time before we all explode and start a revolution, it will happen, and in our lifetime.

o.k, your first post is totally correct, as for your second, you must understand the intricacy of it all, the mistake many do is not put themselves in other peoples shoes, position or predicament, lets talk about syria as an example, syria has helped the u.s many times, what does it get? sanctions, syria now has no other friends than the ones reaching out, iran is good example, iran in-turn supports hezbollah, so syria must support them too, hamas is also supported by iran, the fact that syria knows no one else is with them but these countries allows it to side with them, you cannot lure syria away from iran nor hamas nor hezbollah, why? cause israel is very well known for foot dragging, syria will never get golans as long as israel exists, the only way is for syria to give israel grief by supporting the guys, to maim and terrorise israel at every opportunity, btw, syria finally relises that missiles are much cheaper that jets, more compact and you can buy hundreds.

Now it is "David's Sling", no less, but does it live up to its claimed capabilities? In the past anti-missile systems have been rolled out with great fanfare - e.g. the Patriots - but have turned out to be damp squibs, incapable of bringing down even a slow drone, infiltrating from Hizbullah-occupied Lebanon. Is this just another 9-day wonder? Let's wait and see. We won't have long, thanks to Hamas and their pals. Either the scuds and kassams will be effectively stopped or they will keep on coming.

One more thing, Viper. What makes you think that on the Arab side there is any interest in ?real peace?? Please elaborate the evidence you believe might make this possible. I see no possibility of peace. I take no pleasure in my pessimism.

Viper- No side wins in war. But

I don?t claim to be neutral about the Israeli-Arab conflict. I do claim to be very well informed about the 1982 war. Of course Israel took casualties in men and equipment. But Israel completely destroyed the Syrian missile system in Lebanon without loss in less than 45 minutes and shot down 85 Syrian planes without loss. The Syrian air force never recovered and has not to this day. Anyway, my point was that the 1973 war began as a disaster for the Israelis because they were arrogant and assumed that the Arabs would not attack and therefore the Israelis allowed themselves to be unprepared for war. The Hezbollah war in 1986 echoed the one in 1973. Since then the Israelis have gotten more serious about preparing. Sometimes my posts are misinterpreted as war mongering. No side wins in war. But the handwriting on the wall seems clear and a hard rain is going to fall. And in the very near future.

sometimes the best way to counter these missiles or anything is to use crude armenant, and think about this, while qassams and the like cost stuff all, these new anti-missile missiles cost probably over 20 times more, hence as i have always said, israel and america are the biggest losers, how do you stop this? simple, make real peace, no more to spend on expensive arms, and these countries can prosper even more, but no, these defence manufacturers are greedy, they keep people scared with lies so they can buy up big and profit horrendously, supid, real stupid are our governments.

"What is the approximative cost of the acquisition such system" Now, now, Joseph E. That question is a no no! But to answer your question: the cost will be as much as the manufaturer can coerce the government to squeeze out of the taxpayer for as little as the manufacturer can deliver. That's economy! Who cares about people? $$$$ is what counts! So who is paying for this? Who knows? It is the old shell game. Razzle, dazzle! And keep the masses guessing!

    Russian Pantsir System

    • 23:27

The Russians (via Czechoslovakia) provided what became the IDF with weapons in the 1948 war. Since that time they have not supplied anything.Israel bought mainly French stuff up to 1967, then American and German. Nor have the Israelis been asking for Russian technology. And Russia wouldn't sell Israel such systems unless its foreign policy was undergoing a sea change. For Russia arms sales are a part of foreign policy;they are not like N. Korea, which will sell anything to anyone. Besides,it appears the Pantsir system was successfully foiled by the IAF a few weeks ago in Syria. Why buy a system that has failed its first real-world test?

The David's sling is a new system that I have not heard about, anti-missile missile. Interesting but does it really work? The US buys US instead of ready for use Israeli gear, but I wonder if the Russian Pantsir S1 system would not also protect Israel against Katyusha's and partially increase its low level air defense. But that's just me.

Mister Nasrallah, I am Lebanese and proud of being Lebanese but beleive me it's a shame to have people like the so called "Hassan Nasrallah", Hezbollah is a shame too. I Love Israel, I respect it's People, their love to life ...no like hezbollah who claim to love death. Hopefully one day we will have peace between our both countries... But before we need to eliminate hezbollah and terrorits alike. Respect to Israel and Lebanese People who beleive in Peace and Love.

Oh vey, firing a $10,000 anti missle rocket at a $500 katusha or a $50 kassam makes no sense unless you want to go bankrupt or make a defense contractor rich. Even if its 90 percent accurate (which it isn't) that means out of every 10 kassams fired one gets thru. Better idea, turn off the power to Gaza, it doesn't cost a dime.

You folks are dreaming hiting bulets with bullets, it is true that IL is ahead in hi-tech, but please dont forget there are allways possibilities to be found if the enemy wants to strike. First there were tanks, then the anti tank weapon was found, the plane, then the ground to air missile was found, men found the satelite to spy on the other armies, and now the anti satelite rocket is in use. You people of Israel you are part of the middle east, you should build a lasting pease with your neighbours then you will prosper and you wont need anny financial aid of western nations.

Well,he'd have to think of something that would evade the consequences of initiating hostile action and prevent 1-the loss of all Iranian supplied long distance missles2-the complete flattening of areas of south Beirut and Hizbullah strongholds in the south. If he engages in future hostile military activity he'd also have to be concerned that in a hypothetical next time the IDF would use different tactics on the ground.Would the benefits to him outweigh the much higher costs?Would his Shi'a supporters be willing to pay those costs? What about the rest of the Lebanese, many of whom were angry with N. for a provocation that contained only internal political gains for him and nothing for anyone else? N. must beware of overreaching. He nearly overreached the last time, and had to compensate by his curious public statement that he wouldn't have ordered the provocation if he had known what was going to happen in response.I think N. is finished with provocations for awhile-maybe a long while.

Gave some percentage info about the efficacity of such new missile against Katyushas , Is such new missile efficace against quassams , What is the approximative cost of the acquisition such system , Is such system already installed along the Isaeli northern and southern borders . If such system is efficace against quassams , does it mean that no need groud operation against Gaza terror . Implying will such technology serves as a political weapon by lefties and human right groups (a la Al Qaida school of thought style) against Israel right to self defense , Wich aims is to hinder , is to impair , is to bring into a situation of paralysis or halt Israel right to self defense , Does Kadima opt for a strategy thinking based on defense thechnology (for political seat/ology gain) or does Kadima opt for a strategy to eradicate the arab urban terror war/attrition based on a zero tolerance policy against terror regardless of the political picture whether local , regional or global , cause bottom line even in peace time Israel will still need its full power . Or does Kadima strategy (as a puppet of the US Department of States within also the context of Road Map policy ) hurt in the present or medium or long run the Israel right to self defense , the Israel power , the Israel deterrence power , the Israel policies , the Israel Mideast politics , Jewish State destiny in general ect...
