It is normal practice for many countries to go to the aid of others in civil emergencies, and all this rubbish about anti-semitism bla de bla is crap. In the same way, international aid would go to Israel in the event of CIVIL emergencies, as opposed to your never-ending wars with your neighbours. We send fire-fighters to the US in spite of disagreement over politics, and Australia too, when they are needed. We all send aid to countries devastated by fire/flood/earthquake/tsunamis, and Israel's assistance should be seen as no more or less than a normal contribution to another nation in need. It is enlightened self-interest!

from you, the Brits and most of the world. That is normal. Israel is used to it. They expect nothing in return except more ingratitude, malicious comments and the waging of more wars on them.

I don't care what the title says as long as it doesn't imply or otherwise that the United Kingdom is working closely with Israel. My country is currently under attack from Islamic fundamentalists because of the UK's percieved support of Israel. I don't want the United Kingdom and Israel use in the same sentence.

yes chris...but fires spread not quite like terrorism because they have one border = water there is no moat around the brit military base so i'm sure israeli help was useful. we just cant help being decent. anyway, let me know when you hear of any arab country actually helping anybody else out....something similar to sya the israelis helping out in turkey after the earthquake etc

Don't try to be as stupid as some Israelis and some British are. A boycott of things Israeli is not official UK government policy and neither will it be, unlike most Arab countries and that of pre-war Germany.

It was adjacent (which means next to)the British Base. Israel did nothing for the UK. Israel was asked by the Government of Cyprus if they could assist in fighting this particular fire. So this entire story is misleading.

Israel supply's Galan and West Bank with Free Electricity, Water and Food. They get bombed in return. Israel has sent its medical teams abroad many times to help in dissasters. So Hannah, Shalom.

Even the BBC has mentioned: "Firefighting aircraft are also expected to arrive from Italy and Israel within hours." Rarely does one see Israel mentioned in a positive light by the BBC.

The grandfathers of the flight crew were likely responsible for blowing up the King David and other atrocoities against the Brits, yet the Israeli grandsons are helping out the grandsons of those Brits. Most civilized nations (like Israel and the UK)can make peace in a generation or two.
