Israel's Environment Ministry Lagging on Air Sampling in Polluted Haifa Bay

The Environmental Protection Ministry has done less than half the days of sampling required by ministry regulations; The Haifa Bay area is home to heavy industry, including pharmaceutical and chemical processing plants, oil refineries and a power plant.

The Environmental Protection Ministry has spent just 11 days over the past two years conducting air sampling in the Haifa Bay area, in contravention of ministry regulations requiring it to do so at least 26 days a year, according to a pollution report that appears on the ministry's website.
