Church for Migrants in South Tel Aviv Denied Tax Exemption

Houses of worship in Israel are generally exempt from municipal property tax, but the Grace Covenant Gospel Church, which caters to Israel's migrant workers, is being accused of functioning as more than just a church.

Every Saturday morning, Pastor Solomon Nahr Tetteh opens the doors of his church on the fourth floor of a dilapidated apartment building in south Tel Aviv and offers encouragement to the members of his congregation, many of whom are migrant workers from places like Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and the Philippines.
