No group should be aloud to be above the police, army, or government policy....no matter how chosen they are....they should not be treated differently or given any special ways in dealing with these cases. The authorities need to come down on them with a very heavy hand. Do they realy think the messiah will come back to a bunch of racist bigoted peodo's !

I am surprised that your article leaves out the Anglo rabbis of Ramat Bet Shemesh. These supposed "enlightened" rabbis openly and proudly tell their flocks to avoid the police and come to them with abuse allegations. They them employ their own devices to "investigate" which leads to evidence tampering. Such tactics will ensure that cases are thrown out once they reach the authorities.

Enlightenment ! Basic religious dogmas must be abolished in order to become a modern, progressive, enlightened religious Jewish society with no sexual frustrations, limitations discriminations and... crimes. But as long as we don't establish a secular constitution which seperates totally State afairs from Religion, there is a threat of being reigned by a fanatic conservative religious clan which will turn Israel into a cultural and political disaster and eventually even to a self-destruction.

I firmly disagree with the notion that whether the incidents actually took place or not is not important but too start discussion about the topic within the ultra orthodox community related to sexual abuses. The ends does NOT justify the means as is porported and is wicked and un Godly. It breaks a commandment NOT TO BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR. If discussion is ones aim, it must be done while obeying G-d. You cannot break Gods law to suit your purpose and call it justly.

forbid victims and their families from going to the police to report child sexual abuse, and vilify victims and threaten and shun their families. This only permits offenders to continue to abuse, and increase the number of victims. Shame on these rabbis. Who are they accountable to? They should be fired.
