We have lived in Beit Shemesh for a long time. The current mayor Abutbol is very good. The prior mayor did nothing during his 15 years. The notion that Beit Shemesh is somehow having secular-religious problems is political theatre. On Shabbat we walk along streets where cars drive by and Haredim are walking and no one says anything there are no problems whatsoever. My spouse and I dress like we like and we have never seen or heard of problems. I do see a lot of anti-Haredi hysteria - actually hate. We voted for Abutbol and believe me, we are not Haredi. Abutbol has brought more progress to the city than any of his predecessors. I dont care what he is as long as he does a good job.

We switched because we were turned off by all the hate against Haredim. We voted for Abutbol.

Non Haredi here. We are sick of the hatred against Haredim. Live and Let Live. The Cohen campaign is all based on dislike of "them" - Haredim. I tell my neighbors when they ask "of course" we are voting for Cohen like we did last time because otherwise we will be ostracized by our neighbors but in the kalpi we are voting for the incumbent.

The city is booming commercially and the only slogan of Eli Cohen is "we will win over the charedim." Huh? Abutbol dis Tzahal and reserves. I walk with my wife on Shabbat and see cars driving and charedim walking and no one says anything. We all mind our own business.
