Housing Ministry spies on public housing tenants
Activist says purpose of invasive procedure is to intimidate tenants; ministry says inquiries ensure money goes only to those entitled to it.
The home of public housing tenants in Israel is by no means their castle. The Housing Ministry and public housing companies employ private detectives to interrogate public housing tenants and candidates, snoop around their buildings and stairwells and question their neighbors, Haaretz has learned.
