state. leave iran out of Arab/israel conflict like the populer chant of iranians no to gaza no to lebenon i give my life for iran
Dear Matt, The population of historic Palestine was not majority jewish, on the contrary, it was minority jewish with a large Arab (Palestinian) Muslim/Christian majority. The jews became a majority after Britain brought in large amounts of European jews who later on expelled a large part of the Palestinians and then declared the state of israel which encouraged Jews from all over the world (Russian, Argentinian, Lybian, Persian, Egyptian, Greek, Kurdish, Iraqi, Polish, Ethiopian, Jamaican etc) to immigrate to israel. Looking at those who have a family history tracing back over 1000 years in this land you will find that 96 % of them are the Muslim/Christian Palestinians, the remaining 4 % are jews who before zionism spoke Arabic in the Palestinian dialect and would be part of the Palestinians today had not the British allowed Zionists to set foot in Palestine and declare a state there.
I believe the population is split half in half with a slight majority to the Jews How many of the "half" don't get the right to say what the other "half" can do in terms of the occupation?
Our enemies want to displace us we must not let this happen.
jews, arabs & CHRISTIANS? what about arab christians? aren't the majority of christians in israel arab?
You may believe the decrease of the Christian population is because of Muslim pressure, but Palestinian emigrants to the US will tell you it is because of Israel's policies which make it harder for a gentile to make a iiving in Israel.
Bravo # 14 you make a good point. Israel is not a Jewish state, but a multicultural multi-ethnic one. It's time for one state with freedom and justice for all, not just Jews.
Jews: 5.7M - 0.75M expat = 4,950,000 (54.4%) Jews Non-Jews Israel Proper and WB: 1.8M + 2.345M = 4,145,000 (45.6%) Non-Jews Almost every 2nd person WITH RESIDENCE under Israel sovereignty is not Jewish (and you don't want to include Gaza). Looking at the trend, why does Abbas still want a 2-state solution? I'm out here!
These statistics make sense if we assume that "Arabs" includes Muslims and Christian Arabs while "Christians" means non-Arab Christians. Otherwise why say "Arabs" when you mean Muslims?
the number of people who took to the streets in Iran today to protest the anti govt movement which is supported by Israel and America.
1.8 % growth is not enough for a nation to continue on the long run. The minimum growth for the Israelli jewish citizens should be over 2.5%. Any number under 2.5% will eventually be desolved in other than jewish cultures or identities. Israel must have more babies and help bring home any jewish families which are in foriegn countries. The state of Israel has the capacity to have 100 million citizens. The future of the Great Nation Of Israel is in the babies which gets to be born and that has to be over 2.8% per year.
Here is another inacurate statement. Population growth of 135,000 vs. natural growth of 121,000 with 14,500 immigrants entering the country in 2009 implies that that was zero emigration from Israel in 2009, which we all know cannot be true.
According to Ynet news, there are 750k Israelis living abroad. So 10%. High, but not close to a majority. http://www.somethingjewish.co.uk/articles/1599_israelis_abroad.htm
"The division of the categories is strange because you can be an Arab and Christian at the same time." Yes, it is a Zionist attempt to under-account for the number of Palestinians, by splitting then into ethnic and religious categories.
there is an inaccuracy here, the population of Israel is divided by religion and ethnicity. also by the division through religion. SO ethnicity: western european jews, eastern european jews, central asian jew, caucasian jews, middle eastern jews, ethiopian jews, indian ones, mesopotamian and persian ones (probably the only original less mixed ones). they all differ ethnically from each other in one way or another. now most of them are, from the religious point of vew, of jewish origine, a great part of them are atheist. we are afraid in israel to put it into a rigorous statistics, it may hurt some people. same goes for the palestinian population, you have beduins which are the only arabs, descendants of pre moslem population such as jewish, cnaanite, and aramean, they are mostly moslems, some caucasians, and few persians (mazdeans). So we are all the same a hell of a mixture of peoples and belifs. SHOULD WE GO ON KILLING EACH OTHER?
All, 225,000 of the Arab population are East Jerusalem Arabs. Most likely, this will not be included in a final settlement as part of Israel. Consequently, the Arab percentage is closer to 17.5%. The Christians and others include Druzim, Bahais, Russians, Asian Guest workers, etc. These are not Arabs.
The proportion of Christians in the Holyland , is in decline, mostly leaving under the Moslem pressure. e.g the no of Christians in Gaza diminished from 3,000 to 1,500; Betlehem used to have a Christian majority, now only 30% Christian. The 319,000 mentioned are immigrants from Rusia that are partly Jewish , partly Christian , mixed marriages , etc.
I wonder if we can encourage the Muslim Arabs to leave and if the Haredi population was included. I suspect there are more Jews and less Arabs. I say encourage the Arabs to emigrate Call me Racist if you want to
2010 is the decade.
Israel has 7.5 million residents? Extending the count to Palestinian lands without counting Palestinian residents is an Apartheid count!
The division of the categories is strange because you can be an Arab and Christian at the same time. The implication is that there are no Arab Christians which is inaccurate.
Ultra-Orthodox and "religious settlers" average around 7-8 kids and other religious average 4-5. Don't worry about the Arabs. The religious Jews have far more children and will ensure that Israel remains the Jewish state.
zio land is a state with a majority of citizens living in another country....lots of passports fewer residents
