The wars against Israel by the combined Arab armies The suicide bombers whose families were given payments by Sadaam etc etc
Part of Iraq should be handed for a Jewish enclave to compensate the hundreds of thousands of Jews whose homes were stolen and were cleansed from Iraq. Iraq also must pay damages for scud damage, and for expenses that Israel payed for attacking nuke weapons production center.
we need to demad that Iraq compensate us for the damages done to israel by Iraq during the first gulf war.
What the heck are you talking about? SP Iraq must prepare to pay Israel for the missile bombings first. Are you even aware of that war? Always people with no clue have a lot to say.
Observer (no. 2): We did get compensated for damage done by scuds in the Gulf War. It took a few years, but, for example, Lev Hamifrats (a large shopping mall in Haifa that was hit 3 weeks before opening) was compensated from some Iraqi funds frozen in foreign banks. (I don't remember the precise details)
Sure, Iraq has every right. So do thousands of Jews expelled from Iraq. So do the citizens of Israel that were exposed to Iraqi Scuds that hit Tel Aviv. So do the 5.000 odd Kurds who were gassed by the same Iraq. So do the thousands of families of Iraqi citizens who lost their loved ones to Saddam Hussein. The lawyers and ambulance chasers will have a busy 2010. The UN will be working well into the night. Lets await the Syrian response to its fledgling reactor, that was bombed to shreds. Not to forget Lebanon and Gaza. Good day from freezing Swiss Alps.
... their soldiers and war materials to join other Arab States who attempted to obliterate the fledgling Jewish State in 1948.
You live in New York and you are a Jew. Why do you have to equate everything that happens in Israel with "Jewish".. This is politics not racial/religious politics.
too much water under the bridge since then.
But I thought Israel "doesn't exist"? How can they ask for compensation from a non existent entity?!
It's weird, normally the Joke Of The Day gets sent straight to my Inbox, but today it found its way to Haaretz's website. Nevertheless, as far as jokes go, this one is pretty good.
Geez, you'd think Iraq bombed Dimona from reading the responses. The US and Iran have been to court over US actions and Iranian actions during the Iran Iraq war. Get over it. Some here think Israel has a valid counterclaim. If so make it. The ICJ is open for business. Instead of crying "poor me," hire some lawyers. Should make an interesting case.
anything goes that's reasonable for peaceful relations with Arab States. If Iraq wants to settle this they should speak directly to Israel about this matter. Perhaps it could begin some sort of peace process with Iraq? Good neighbors should talk to each other. If the context is peace with Israel and vice versa, let them talk it out.
caused by Ally forces. Egypt can request damages from Israel for preemtively destroying their aircraft. The list can go on and on, but its all illogical.
IRAQ/BABYLON SHOULD PAY FOR DESTRUCTION OF SOLOMON'S HOLY TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM.
Iraq is an ally of the U.S. and no longer a threat to us. They deserve compensation for the damage we caused.
The Iraqis must compensate all the Jews who were robbed and evicted from that place. Then they can compensate for the 1991 scuds' death and damage.
USA and Britain beware! According to this logic, Germany may demand compensation for Allied bombing runs of German rocket factories....
Israel just did a pin prick. USA was the one that pounded Osirak into the sand.
Israel did the world a huge favor, by preventing that madman Hussein from getting nukes. If Iraq is going to demand compensation, then Israel should also demand compensation for the unprovoked missile attacks on civilian homes during the Gulf War.
Will Iraq pay the tens of billions they stole from Jews living in Iraq? or the Millions in damage they caused Israel when Hussein attacked. If its a tit for tat, the Arabs owe Jews many times more. I'd be happy to settle that. Lets start with the 850,000 Jewish refugees compared to the 650,000 Arab refugees under UN resolutions. Time for the Arab league to compensate those Jews. Start by absorbing the 650,000 Arab refugees like Israel absorbed most of the Jewish refugees.
