Iran negotiator calls for quick nuclear deal with West

Saeed Jalili: Tehran still welcomes the negotiations with the West on the basis of its package of proposals.

Iran's chief negotiator in talks with Western powers over its atomic program said on Sunday he hoped a draft deal on nuclear fuel would be reached soon.

"Tehran still welcomes the negotiations [with the six world powers] on the basis of its package of proposals," state broadcaster IRIB quoted Saeed Jalili as saying. It said he hoped the talks "will be completed as quickly as possible".

The United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China want to persuade Iran to suspend uranium enrichment activities in return for economic and political incentives. Tehran has so far refused to halt its enrichment.

A UN-drafted nuclear proposal would see Iran sending most of its low-enriched uranium abroad by the end of the year for further enrichment before being returned to Iran as fuel for a medical reactor in Tehran.

Iran says talks are needed on the nuclear deal and that wants to import atomic fuel rather than send its own uranium abroad for processing.

The West accuses Iran of covertly trying to build a nuclear bomb. Tehran says its nuclear program is peaceful and aimed at generating electricity to meet its booming domestic demand.

Iran's signs off on the current Western offer or faces the consequences. To do otherwise is to get a rerun of North Korean negotiation stalling game which bought it the time to build and test nuclear weapons.

Iran is under intense pressure because the fuel of the Tehran Research Reactor is depleted. That reactor supplies crucial isotopes for industry and medical purposes. The Ayatollahs might not like it, but they will have to deal with it. I can understand why they are distrustful of the west, particularly the US and France. Iran was a major investor in a French enrichment plant, which was to supply the original Bushehr reactor contracted by the Shah. France has reneged on supplying any reactor fuel, or refunding the billion or so Iran contributed. But those fears will just have to be dealt with as the TRR is at the end of the road without more fuel, the Arak replacement is way behind schedule, and Iran does not have time to change the Natanz plant to produce the 19.75% enriched fuel necessary for the TRR. It is a joy to see Iran has trapped itself. I can sympathize with Saeed Jalili's discomfort and Ali Akbar Salehi's distress. Their efforts are hindered by fools.

Booming demand that Israel won't be wiped out yet again - this time in a millisecond - by some anti-Jew freak in Iran or elsewhere. Difficult to understand, multitudes of Jew-haters in the world? Which includes "many" Jews themselves (there are NOT many if u see the big picture), bending and breaking to peer pressure.
