Iran announces successful test of radar-evading aircraft
Iran started production of 2 new missiles, days after it launched a rocket which can carry a satellite.
By Reuters Tags: Iran nuclear Israel newsIran has successfully tested a radar-evading aircraft, a commander said on Sunday, in the country's latest announcement of technological advances as it marks the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution.
The semi-official Fars News Agency, citing senior air force official Aziz Nasirzadeh, said the prototype of a radar-evading aircraft named Swordfish had been test-flown.
"The prototype of this aircraft ... Completed all radar evading characteristics considered by us," he said. "We are evaluating the data from the test flight and it will go into production after completing additional tests."
Iran is embroiled in a dispute with the West over its nuclear program and often makes announcements of progress in its military capabilities, in an apparent attempt to show its readiness to respond to any military attack.
On Saturday, it officially started production of two new missiles, state media said, three days after it launched a rocket which can carry a satellite.
During the Feb. 1-11 period, Iran marks the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution that toppled the U.S.-backed shah.

It could avoid detection...At the bottom of the Persian Gulf!
The Iranians learn from the mistakes of North Korea, they are educated in America and wealthy with oil, so they can build impressive systems, copied entirely from others. They are a threat that must be dealt with, but their boasting is empty. Iraq's was also empty, but despite their foolishness, their cruelty and barbarism were worthy of note. They were anything but innocent or harmless.
The problem here, though, is that Iraq never had a military tech development program. Everything they had was provided to them by other countries. If you remember correctly...they were so unfamiliar with using this tech, that they dug in their tanks in the sand, and used them as immobile artillery. It'd be a grand mistake to compare the iraqi's to Persians. :P
The indigenous Iranian Military Infrastructure was actually modeled on Israel's. This makes sense when military autonomy under embargoes is critical. With the benefits of American Educations and all of the Money from their Oil, they have not been making the same kinds of technical bureaucratic mistakes of North Korea, but are still not especially original and prone to the same kinds of bellicose grandstanding as Iraq used to indulge in.
You said "Iran is a weak state, that can easily be destroyed. I really don`t understand why people are so terrified of the idea of attacking it." What the. . . . Iran has not attacked Israel but you are advocating attacking Iran. Are you of the opinion that Israel has the right to attack any country that is weaker than itself. If so. I hope and pray that Iran gets nuclear weapons sooner than later. They are unlikely to use them as it will invite many of Israels nuclear weapons down on the heads of Iranians and they are not that stupid. It is only this that will stop Israels aggressive attacking of it's neighbors. Like 1967 when it attacked it's neighbors. Do I have to mention the USS Liberty. Lebanon 2006. Cast Lead, etc, etc. Reap what you sow and good riddance to a "Zionist regime". Long live a secular democratic Israel of all it's citizens. Tally Ho J Street. Hope AIPAC dies a quick death.
Iran's factory for radar evading planes is located on Mars.
They happened to announce it just as Russia announced their 5th gen stealth fighter. Big surprise there...considering the last jet Iran announced was a joint Iran-Russian project for the first half of its development cycle. I've seen on some of Iran's government websites, that this plane has been listed as a UAV, and not an actual Jet with a pilot. That would make a big difference as UAV's are much simpler to create. And at the end of the day, this just finished its design phase. And while I'm sure it has some radar evasion, I doubt it's anything that could compete at the level of the american B2's. But don't discredit the capabilities of the Iranians. They've built their entire military infrastructure in 30 years. No other country has come out of nowhere, and on its own developed such an extensive military industry that creates tanks, apc's, choppers, battleships, submarines, fighter jets, etc... They always exaggerate their capabilities, but they do have some good stuff
Must mean it worked!
Claiming that Iran in naming a new radar evading plane ?Swordfish? is a joke. The propagandists should have used a more appropriate Iranian name and not Swordfish
Sanctions are working just great for Iran, It has made them more self sufficient and innovative. Don't let them stop you Iran!
Stop acceptance of students from troublemaking states (Iran, Pakistan, China, etc) to science and engineering departments of western universities, Instead, increase their acceptance to human and social sciences. It will help to balance technical progress with humanistic develoment.
It would stop other countries from attacking her.
"in lack of basic technologies such as computers, phones, modern cars, etc,"... err ok Joey... " the milestone that took the US 30 years to develop" Hmm.. China copies just about anything they want, really fast and really cheap... "Iran is a weak state"...like Iraq was?..."I really don`t understand why people are so terrified of the idea of attacking it."...guess you live pretty far from Iranian missiles then eh Joey?
Since the Russians don't have a 5th generation stealth fighter in production yet it is doubtful Iran has one even as a prototype. If they think they are smarter than the Russians, they are fools. Most everything they claim is pure propaganda and indicates how scared they really are of being attacked. Those who boast the most are usually the weakest. If they really were powerful they would keep it quiet as a strategic advantage.
If Israel wants to attack Iran fair enough. Just don't involve the rest of us.
Depends on the quality of the Radar. Then again, it could well be a micro light or a balloon. The fiddlers sure know how to tell fairy tales. Good night from sweet fresh Swiss Alps.
Iran, a country, that is financially broken, in lack of basic technologies such as computers, phones, modern cars, etc, that is in dispute with it's own citizens, devoting half of it's time praying to an imaginary prophet, and spending any little money it has on it's nuclear program, can possibly have achieved the milestone that took the US 30 years to develop, in producing a plane that can avoid radar waves by absorbing and deflecting them. Iran is a weak state, that can easily be destroyed. I really don't understand why people are so terrified of the idea of attacking it.
