U.K., Germany, U.A.E. deny banning fuel for Iran planes
Iran says passengers planes refused fuel in wake of U.S sanctions; U.A.E.: We're honoring contracts; Germany: Unaware of any incidents; U.K.: We haven't ordered ban, but individual companies may have taken own action.

"Since last week, our planes have been refused fuel at airports in Britain, Germany and UAE because of the sanctions imposed by America," Mehdi Aliyari, Secretary of the Iranian Airlines Union, told Iran's ISNA news agency.
A British government spokesman said it was unaware of any Iranian planes being denied fuel in Britain. The German transport ministry said there was no ban on refuelIng Iranian aircraft, and an airport in the United Arab Emirates said it was honoring contracts to fill Iranian air craft normally.
The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority said it had not ordered companies to refuel Iranian planes - but tadded hat individual fuel forms were free to make their own decisions on the matter. The refueling of Iranian planes, she said, was not something which either EU or UN sanctions have banned.
Germany's Transport Ministry said the refueling of Iranian planes was not banned under E.U. or UN sanctions and that a future ban of this order was not foreseeable.
There is no ban," a spokesman for the ministry told Reuters, adding that he could not comment on whether any individual providers were refusing to fuel Iranian aircraft.
An airport company in the U.A.E capital Abu Dhabi denied that any such measure was in place. "We have contracts with Iranian passenger flights and continue to allow refueling," said a spokeswoman for Abu Dhabi Airports Co (ADAC).
If confirmed, the new measures will be evidence of a determined intention to make these sanctions really bite.
U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday signed into law far-reaching sanctions on Iran that aim to squeeze the Islamic Republic's fuel imports and deepen its international isolation.
The unilateral U.S. action and other measures planned by the European Union go well beyond a fourth round of UN Security Council sanctions against Iran approved on June 9.
Iran is the world's fifth-largest oil producer, but imports various oil products for lack of sufficient refining capacity.
Unlike the U.S. measures, the U.N. sanctions stop short of targeting Iranian imports of refined products.
Western powers believe Iran is trying to build bombs under cover of a civilian nuclear program. Tehran says the programme is only for electricity generation and medical purposes.
Aliyari said Iran Air, the national carrier, and Mahan Airlines had run into refueling problems so far. "Refusing to provide fuel to Iranian passenger planes by these countries is a violation of international conventions," he added.
An Iranian lawmaker said his country would retaliate in kind against countries denying fuel to its transport industry.
"Iran will do the same to ships and planes of those countries that cause problems for us," ISNA quoted Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh as saying. "Iran should react firmly to the action taken by some countries like the U.A.E."

Turks say (Arab Kyanat) and are resentful to the historic stabbing of their back by some Arab Tribes in WW1. Like the Petraus of our days, Lawrance, a mediocre ranking soldeir was able to convince Sherif Husain and his sons to side with the Christians against their Muslim brothers, and Othman KHalifa. Saddam played a notorious role in opposing the Iran revolution. Now UAE and probably others are encouraging the West in blockading Iran and making life a misery for Iranian peoples. Iran depends on Dubai for musch of its imports and loosing that channel would be hard for Iran. The AEU may loose too but they can afford some hardship to obey the western orders. Those arabs know ell the stake but they give atmost priority to Washington's satisfaction. They are an important participant ,although not musch talked-about, in Afghanistan. Bases, supplies, money and intelligence come from this low-key UAE .
german newssite DER SPIEGEL rerports this morning that iranian aircrafts are still refueled. just one company does not anymore, cause the contract ended by time.
In the rush to predict doomsday, nobody even seems to notice the central allegation was denied, or that the source of the story was the black-turbaned nutters in Tehran. Let's give it another news cycle before we fry our brains.
bp confirmed earlier today that they are refusing to refuel civilian flights from iran. it's not sanctioned by any individual airport, just bp ports at the airports mentioned.
You are forcing Iran to a war in which yourself would not survive as well. I am sorry that Iranian and israeili extremists are not stoppable.I wish they have alittle rationality to see what they are doing together.
eom
and then those who stood by them would face reality: Iran is there and in force. As for Saddam, the West was happy to see him offering to invade Iran in 1980. Saddam was hanged by the US agents ruling Iraq now.
What??? Seems all these talkbackers will have to rethink and resubmit their views. Such is life.
Just another Israeli lie. Neve believe them.
Is it an official declaration of war yet? Another 10 years minimum unnecessary war?
El Al will fly over the ashes of your country, once Achmedidio has the atomic bomb, moron. Wake up!
The U.S. and Europe are very week economically to enforce any kind of unilateral sanctions against any country. With about 2 trillion yearly deficit , the U.S. needs Iran and other nations for its survival. All indications point to the collapse of the American economy and Empire in the near future. It looks like Osama Binladen's prediction was right when he said and I quote "We will bleed those arrogant infidel powers economically to their demise".
iran should keep in mind that things will only get worse, not better.
Israel is only beginning to feel American and international pressure like never before. Times have changed even though Israel still thinks that they can ride out the storm and go on as before. Don't count on it. Iran, on the other hand, has dealt with sanctions of one sort or another for decades. China and Russia will not let things get too bad for Iran.
israel will manage, just as she had always managed.
Israel should destroy its nukes before settlers control the bomb. Once that happens, the ME will become nothing but a glowing field of glass. Israel is the only country that has illegally nuclear weapons, so Iran has also right to have nuclear arms to stop Israel. Israeli leaders are Obsessive-neurotic-paranoid with delusions of grandeur
yes that's right, iran and china will be super glad to have a nuclear iran and obama will be there forever making terrific speeches
There are no sanctions,it is a load of useless propaganda.
'"If the fuel for the Tehran research reactor is given, Iran will not insist on continuing the production of the fuel domestically," state news agency IRNA quoted Alaeddin Borujerdi, head of parliament's commission on foreign policy, as saying.' - July 4, 2010 If this becomes an official offer, I would agree to lifting the latest round of sanctions if Iran commits to enriching not above the level of 3.5%, which is the level used for power plants. The earlier sanctions will remain as long as there is any enrichment. In any case, progress is being made and the Iranians are beginning to admit to feeling the pain.
Haaretz: "Western powers believe Iran is trying to build bombs under cover of a civilian nuclear program" I don't think that is the truth to be honest, i don't think they belive in that. It is the same people in USA behind the accussations against Iran as it was behind the accussations against Iraq. We know they lied or was wrong first time and ow we're seeing the very same scenario repeat it self but against Iran. Do they lie or are they wrong again? Should we trust the same source once more when we know the consequences from the Iraq war? I wonder seriously if they are aiming for a third gobal war by uniting the muslims against west and Israel
What's the reason for the thumbs down? My pesimistic point of view? Maybe it deserves a thumb down. But the rest, is it something wrong about what i am saying? Give your perspectives, your thumbs (either up or down) doesnt give anything. Isnt it the truth what im writing? That it's basiclu the same people in the USA that are behind these new accusations against Iran that also was behind the false accusations against Iraq? Is that bad to mention? Why if so?
Look, whether you believe the accusations or not is something else. But the Western governments have repeatedly and directly accused Iran of exactly what Haaretz says. Go read the wikipedia article. Why are you denying the obvious? Have you not read a newspaper over the last 5 years?
people who gave you thumbs down do not necessarily disagree with you , they just don't like what you've mentioned, they hide behind the truth themselves.
That there actually was a positive thing with Iraq: the fall of a dictator! Have a problem with this? Then go in Iran. Farewell.
No i don't, and what i think doesnt matter. What the Iraqi people thinks is the only thing that matters. But i do have a huge problem with politicians and lobbyists that uses lies to legitimate wars. Don't you?
I think you misunderstand what i mean. I didnt say no western leaders (and the organisations behind them) claims that Iran are trying to get nukes. What i meant was that it's basicly the same people and same organisations behind the accusation against Iran as it was with the accusations against Iraq. I am not denying anything. I am questioning the accusation because the people behind it lost my faith of trust when they lied/was wrong the first time about Iraq. If Iraqi people are grateful for the war agianst Iraq and think USA made a good deed then the war at least brought something good to the Iraqi people. What i am affraid of is if these sanktions might unite the Iranian opposition with Ahmadinejad against west (and i include Israel to the west here). And a war against Iran... Nothing works well as glue for a divided people as a warr against them. Is that what we want? Can we afford more bloodshed?
The strait of Hormuz will be candidate for closure, oil will hit the $250, the dollar will hit the ground, Wall Street will crumble. All this in a very short tome. Our economies can not withstand any more shocks. Those latest sanctions will bite and will makes us all bite the ground. Israel rejoice.
"The strait of Hormuz will be candidate for closure, oil will hit the $250, the dollar will hit the ground, Wall Street will crumble" And if that happened all this silly refusing to refuel business will become even more laughable then it is now.
finally, the truth - sometimes it's necessary to just unzip your pants upwind of self-congratulating bastards, and do history and tghe honroable sacrifices of earlier generations a favor (although they usually died for lies), and let fly. There - right upon the "Holy Land", I have done more for truth than all those freaks with their hair curled down over their ears, having memorised ancient texts justifying sordid perversions, and thinking themselves better than others. Damn you and your generated wars.
with the oil prices going up, the oil companies will be working so hard to stop the war, that they won't be able to fight the people who are working on creating alternative energy, and by the time the war ends there will be a few sources of alternative energy that we won't need any oil coming from the Arab countries. and then our economy will grow and their economy will fall.
Refueling planes is nothing, just wait til Iran cannot fuel it's own nation. If Iran does not stop it's war like, insane ways, Iran will end up in worse condition than Afghanistan.
You just wait till Iran blocks of the straight of hermoz and then we all won’t be refuelling our nations.. this can be played both ways only difference is if brazil and Venezuela decide to cut supplies to (as they are Iran’s new allies) then no one will be getting anymore fuel not even the usa. im sure youll be very happy then.. And yes America can go to war against Iran easier said than done, and either way you still won’t get fuel!!
Iran cannot block the straits of Hermoz. Israel would destroy any Iranian naval vessel that dares to enter the water. Funny joke, but let us be serious now!
Chaim, Israel would do what? Because? The strait of Hermuz is between Iran and Oman, Israel has no claim or business there! ps: they don't need naval vessels to block a straight which is 54 Km wide at its narrowest point on Iran's border. Get serious lad, and do that quickly please...
nothing like punishing tens of millions of innocent people for their leader who wasn't even elected in a fair election, for a bomb that doesn't even exist yet!
Israel's specialty. Can they do anything else?
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
to the pressure re: Libya on Nuclear, Germany and Japan during WW II
Iran has not violated laws yet, so it is not easy it gets to this point.
is spell check broken?
Did anyone actually find some evidence, I mean one tiny bit of proof that Iran has a clandestine nuclear weapon program or is it the same scam, they ran on Iraq, the same mafia-alike ganging up on a poor nation that aims at minding his own business in the world of war mongering of the neocons?
The only thing that matters where Iran is concerned is that given the chance they would annihilate a country for no reason other than they think they should not be allowed to live. They have said over and over and over!!! If your so trusting of them maybe you should live in Israel with the fear of that happening day in and day out! Yes I think Iraq was a scam by the US.
Iran has every right to nuclear power, but they must follow international law while doing so. They must allow IAEA to monitor their nuclear program. Not to mention their enrichment levels are above what's needed for energy use. And on top of that, the regime has made countless remarks about destroying Israel. There's your evidence
IAEA does monitor their program. More closely than any other, as well as all the spy agencies with no evidence to date. Their enrichment levels are to levels required by civilian nuclear industries. They have never talked about killing any Jews (Iran has many), simply the end of the current system of governance in Israel.
The rest were bullied out and most of them now live in Israel.
They refused to go to Israel when offered lucrative cash incentives to leave Iran. They refused. Iran has a proud Jewish heritage, dating to before the re-establishment of Judea under Cyrus' might. I suggest you stop running on a delusion that Iran is somehow "anti-Jewish"
They do have a lot of Jews. But these Jews are anti-Zionist. BUt still get bullied as you said but do not fly to Israel. They fly to the US. THey have hidden nuclear plants which the IAEA is unable to get to. thats whats causing all racket.the obvious and visible plants are all being monitored.where the extra uranium is coming from, no one knows.
To keep Iranians from being stranded in other countries they should of just disallowed all Iranian planes entry into their countries and airspace. Knowing they can't fly into airspace or land in these countries would keep citizens from being stranded.
Soon you will attack Iran and don't ask why the people are attacking you because it is exactly these sanctions which hurt the people.
Something smells fishy here.....
its unfortunate however those citizens are represented by these clowns who control the countries military. it's the military we're after, not the citizens. and if the military would stop acting like some terds, all would be fine.
The economically and politically clueless Iranian theocracy will soon find out the real cost of being blackballed to trade oil for hard currency.
a sovereign country cannot develop its nuclear technology, but an ruthless occupier gets funded to do the very thing-- maintain and grow a nuclear arsenal.
Yet this ruthless occupier has never aimed to use its power to destroy this sovereign state (or anyone else for that matter) - while this sovereign state is being led by religious clercks that have already proven that they will stop at nothing to maintain their theocratic regieme and their bloody grip over their own people
Are you talking about Israel or Iran?
Israels religious radical monsters especially the illegal settlers will destroy Israel from within. You can quote me on that... You people have no idea what you have unleashed inside Israeli territory...
Not much use to you now is it?
When direct talk and discussions in any languish don't help, fuel is the only understandable languish.
stranded Iranian families on Frankfurt airport? :-)) looks like somebody is loosing the next PR war ... the source of this news is Iranian, French Total has already declared that civilian and military stuff should not be mixed, so...
This seems to go against what the Obama administration has said repeatedly, that the sanctions they impose would be designed not to hurt ordinary Iranians, but rather to punish those companies and organisations with links to the Iranian government and its nuclear program. This is the opposite of what is needed to change the Iranian regime. What we should be doing is allowing moderate Iranians to move freely, not punish them for their government's (alleged) nuclear ambitions by crippling their national airline. Only with freedom of movement and information can we bring Iran back from the brink of total isolation and back into the fold.
....even Spain,, then many Afrikan countries with Islamic populations, then South Africa. So Iranian planes can reach most of the world. Unfortunately, Iranian Islamic terror regime has now Erdogans Turkey. Iranians paid the Islamist Erdogan to join the axis of terror: Iran, Syria, now Turkey. You could smell it ahead of time, last year when Erdogan attacked Simon Peres in Davon and got a handshake from Amr Mousa, Head of Arab Bloc.
Western powers mainly US and Europe are dead serious to squeeze Iran and bring the regime down. Even before the complete victory of the Islamic revolution, these powers tried to save its old puppet regime. From day one an embargo was put in place and is there since then. The West was glad to see Saddam backed by Arab regimes volunteering to invade Iran, then weak and vulnerable. Eight years of a crippling and destructive war could not bring down the Islamic regime in Iran. Hostility towards Iran continued. The West has been always supported by Arab regimes which were afraid that they will be next. The prtext of Atomic energy right is merely an execuse. Now, a universal blockad is declared and Arab regimes are again at the center. These regimes have history of obeying to the letter the Western dictate. Gaza's blockade, and Libya, Sudan have tasted crippling blockades ordered by the west by implemented totally and vigorously by arab regimes. There was nothing Iran could do, the West would not accept anything short of a total capitulation and a historic hmiliation. The west cannot afford a compromise with Islamic Iran. Iran regime is now facing many enemies together: inernal dissention, neighbouring open hostility and global western dictate. No revolution in history had faced such an array of powerful enemies.
I feel for them and if I were them I would get out of Iran now. The country is well on it's way down.
I see more and more israeli moving in the NY area. A lot of youngs that could go to war for their country. I was also wondering, leaders, shame, hidding, no future?.
I'm pretty sure they want to leave. But the government has given them such a bad name they have visa problems everywhere they go. Plus they have just too too many enemies and no one is willing to except them int heir country.
Looks like Ahmedinajacket will not be able to fly too far without a refuel which means he will have to stay in Iran unless his Syrian bootlickers send him a plane
He can come to Israel..we would looove to refuel his plane....
