"There is a political determination in the two countries to develop relations further," Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, was quoted by state-run Anatolian news agency as saying on Sunday, when Turkey and Iran signed a joint economic commission accord in Tehran.
The cooperation talks spanned areas such as transport, industry and customs, Anatolian said.
Turkish State Minister Cevdet Yilmaz also set a target of $30 billion trade volume, without specifying a time frame.
Their bilateral trade volume rose to $10.7 billion last year from about e1 billion in 2000, Yilmaz said. Turkey's exports to Iran stood at $3.44 billion last year, making it Turkey's 10th biggest export market.
Washington has increased pressure on Ankara to enforce sanctions against Iran.
Turkey says it observes United Nations sanctions against Iran but declares it is not obligated to adhere to a separate U.S. embargo that targets Iranian energy.
The U.S. Treasury last week blacklisted six individuals and five business entities in Iran and Turkey for providing materials and support to Iran's ballistic missile development efforts.
Western powers suspect Iran is trying to secretly build a nuclear weapon, a charge Tehran denies.

Hint, hint!!
All, or even most, trade with Iran is not sanctioned.
I pray everyday that the Turkish people under the leadership of Erdogan live exactly the same life as the Iranians. Let them share this wonderful freedom of the Ayatollahs. Amen
bull shit walks. Unlike Israel. Iran is a peaceful nation just minding their own business and wants to be left alone by those who envy them.
1. Iran threatens to wipe Israell off the map. - What a wonderful 'peaceful' nation 2. Hezballah is Iranian stooge. - - What a wonderful "peaceful" nation 3. Iran organized the terrorist act in Argentina. - What a wonderful "peaceful" nation?
Iran is bacward nation without basic respect to human rights supporting terrorost organization not only in the middle east but around the globe to promote Shi'ism
"Iran just minding their own business ..." Are you a fool or just pretending to be one?
Europe companies should by take back their agreements with turkey. most of European companies are selling their stuff through turkey this will throw them back to the middle ages where they belong to...
EU can not do that just because Turkey is a trade market of them, and they have very advantous rights. So, be sure revach, EU companies sell their products just because of their love to us but for our money. Custom union with EU is also againist to Turkey. Dear Revach, I hope they hear you! So, just like Iran, we create or try to create our independent industry. Besides, we also know your "middle ages".
SO WHY WOULD THEY BE SO DEFIANT??? IS IT A HIT TO ISRAEL OR TO THE U.S.....WELL NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY WE AMERICANS SUPPORT ISRAEL...
... had there been different folk running our Foreign Ministry... this would also have contributed to foreign relations with other nations in the vicinity... Israel's current regime is isolating us from the world...
It’s about time the world stopped pandering to Israel and it’s paranoia . There is NO evidence that Iran is building a nuclear weapon. The ‘wiping Israel of the map’ comment never happened and is a ridiculous notion. Iran is not a threat! As for the undisclosed nuclear arsenal that is held in aggressive, dictator supporting, racist Israel – now that’s a worry.
Craig If your so pro iranian why would not go to visit the country. They are building nuclear central probably to grow tomaotes and cumcumbers.Only last month 66 people were executed
israil is understanding power of erdogan. so israel must excuse from turkey at once. we protected jews in period of ottoman emperor. again we protect and showed tolerance. but israel mustnt tarnish honor of jews . o israel ! convince to your philanthropy us.
the sanctions on iran have been inspired by israel, on whose saying the us and the west at large have created them. the arab stooges of the ussupport them as they have no choice. however the majority of nations do not support the sanctions. happily india is also ignoring this dictate. simply put if israel ,india, pakistan, the us, uk, france, russia and china can have the bomb... so can iran and n korea
And the moronic western US and EU fool themselves but no one else that sanctions "are working " and they will stop Iran
In 3 &1/2 years from now one of them will be betrayed !
I wonder when Turkey will be kicked out. it is obvious that Erdogan is driving Turkey toward more radical islamism, He said it himself that his best friend was Ahmedenijad. Why all hte pretending, they should both be put in the same boat.
I really don't see why you should kick Turkey out of NATO. Turkey is a crucial partner to NATO and only reason for someone to imply that Turkey should be kicked out is their blind hate towards anything related to Islam and Muslims. If Israel's and US private companies could sell $10.7 billion worth of goods to Iran I seriously doubt that they would have any qualams about that and I believe their governments would support them.
NATO has no seperate sanctions. Turkey is in compliance with NATO.
Iranian FM says two countries determined to raise trade relations to $30 billion in five years, in areas such as transport, industry and customs.?
and a grave security risk having, as it does, NATO membership. This Western disease of Political Corectness endangers us all. Turkey OUT OF NATO NOW!
When you steal something, you all the time look behind youe shoulders...ALL THE TIME.... You stole Arab lands ...Stole Palestine....keep on looking behind your shoulder...you are going straight to the hole...It is only matter of time..
must put on blinkers when he deals with his brothers Erdogan & Ahmadinejad complement each other
If Turkey is out of complaince with NATO, you can be assured that NATO or its member nations would quickly bring this to Turkey's attention.
trade always brings good relations and peace. It would be wise for Israel to increase its trade with Arabs and Iran.
Turks had Iraq issues for years and it’s effected Turkey's economy. Just for Israel’s sake she has closed to doors to Syria and Iran. Erdogan and his government using their brain and they opening the opportunities to do more with its neighbors. I think it’s the most logical thing to do and why should Turkey have bad relations with its neighbors for Israel and US? Israel is the one who kills the citizens and not even apologizes for it
Turkey must look after it's own interests, just as the EU and America seem to be doing with regards to Turkey.
the turkey (just like the US, and the West in general) is quite selective about where democracy is important, and where its secondary to Turkey's interests
Israel is a colonialist country, how many countries stopped doing business with it? the US provided for many years weapons to that same country. double standards are never a good thing. noone is in a position to judge anyone here.business is business, besides aren't some us companies doing business with Iran? teh US treasury has no authority over the rest of the planet. that's the bottom line. hypocrits have no authority in my eyes.
