Iran puts off Bushehr nuclear plant launch to early 2011
Iranian officials deny Stuxnet virus has affected major systems at nuclear plant, but analysts believe Iran may be suffering wider sabotage.

Iranian officials said on Sunday the Stuxnet virus had hit staff computers at the Bushehr plant, a symbol of Iran's growing geopolitical sway and rejection of international efforts to curb its nuclear activity, but not affected major systems there.
When Iran began loading fuel into Bushehr in August, officials said it would take two to three months for the plant to start producing electricity and that it would generate 1,000 megawatts, about 2.5 percent of the country's power usage.
"We hope that the fuel will be transferred to the core of the Bushehr nuclear power plant next week and before the second half of the Iranian month of Mehr (Oct. 7)," Ali Akbar Salehi, head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, was quoted on Wednesday as saying by the semi-official news agency ISNA.
"The ground is being prepared in this regard and, God willing, the fuel will be loaded to the core of the reactor completely by early November and the heart of Bushehr power plant will start beating by then."
Salehi added: "Two to three months after that electricity will be added to the networks." This would mean Bushehr generating electricity from January or February.
Security experts say the Stuxnet computer worm may have been a state-sponsored attack on Iran's nuclear program and have originated in the United States or Israel, the Islamic Republic's arch-adversaries.
Iran's program includes uranium enrichment -- separate from Bushehr -- that Western leaders suspect is geared towards developing atomic bombs. Iran says it is refining uranium only for a future network of nuclear power plants.
Diplomats and security sources say Western governments and Israel view sabotage as one way of slowing Iran's nuclear work. Little information is available on how much damage, if any, Iran's nuclear and wider infrastructure has suffered from Stuxnet and Tehran will probably never disclose full details.
Some analysts believe Iran may be suffering wider sabotage aimed at slowing its nuclear advances, pointing to a series of unexplained technical glitches that have cut the number of working centrifuge machines at the Natanz enrichment plant.
Bushehr was begun by Germany's Siemens in the 1970s, before Iran's Islamic Revolution, but has been dogged by delays.
Russia designed and built the plant and will supply the fuel. To ease nuclear proliferation concerns, it will take back spent fuel rods that could otherwise be used to make weapons-grade plutonium. Bushehr is also being monitored by inspectors of the UN nuclear watchdog.
Washington has criticized Moscow for pushing ahead with Bushehr despite Iranian defiance over its nuclear program.

From the article: "It could, technically, make factory boilers explode, destroy gas pipelines or even cause a nuclear plant to malfunction. " Siemens sells their PLCs to more places than Iran. Evidently china was a big customer, probably spending extra and using German technology rather that Chinese PLCs. Are you going to cheer when chinese get hurt or killed by the idiocy of a virus aimed at Iran.
how many countries would be affected by the busher meltdown??...
Focus on peace, not war.
Yes...it was me. I did it. And it's really no big deal. Once its conditions are met, a hen with five little chicks in tow is going to march across the screens of the infected computers, from left to right, then fiive seconds after they disappear into the right edge of the monitor, they all peek back onto it, as if looking around a corner with eyes wide and declare, "your shell's been cracked!" Then POOF...they disappear.
THE ONLY WAY TO ACHIVE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST IS TO ALLOW IRAN TO BECOME NUKE ARM STATE! ZIONIST STATE OF ISRAEL RESPECT ONLY THE POWERFULL NEIGHBOURS!
As the stuxnet virus was detected and analyzed prematurely, it wasn't able to cause serious damage to the Iranian nuclear facilities. I guess Iran is using the time until year's end to 'harden' Bushehr and other nuclear facilities against stuxnet like attacks. Just to make sure this threat is eliminated for ever.
If you look at hacking and viruses in general, they are an onging thing, so your confidence is musplaced in 'hardening', unless Iran have the expertise, they will never be able to do it. Russia will be VERY interested to help Iran sort this out as they will not want to be on the end of this type of attack themselves, we shall see this in the news in some form or another soon my guess
Witness the hand of G-d at work.
there's a reason these things are called viruses, and it can just as easily affect those other than its target. The precedent has been set!
This is terrific! Israel is one of the most high-tech countries in the world and is clearly capable of this...the fact that there are no strong denials makes me think Israel is quite happy to let the Iranian terrorists feel the wrath of the only democratic State in the Middle East! Those that are critical of Israel are just p`d off that Israel has done it again (and will do so again, and again, and again until the Iranians realise they cannot win!) Keep it up, Israel!
Now if it was Israel who did it just think if it works there and if Turkey, Lebenon, Syria give you a problem well good bye computer systems, and some may even destroy missille systems not a bad idea
Just imagine if Iran was behind this virus attack on another country? The entire western world would be up in flamme talking about this type of terror. Since it is the spoiled country of jews who carried out this attack, the world is applauding and welcominmg such act. No wonder there is no justice around this globe.
There is something self-contradictory in Russia's behavior. On the one hand she objects to Iran enriching Uranium even to the low 3.5% level for power plants, and on the other hand supplies Iran with such processed product which allows Iran to keep her stock of Uranium. A good solution for the contradiction would be for Russia to demand from Iran partial payment "in kind" for future reactors it will build, that is, pay for the fuel rods by giving to Russia the enriched Uranium used to produce them. This should be acceptable to Iran, after all, they claim that their Uranium is enriched to serve as fuel. The fact is that Iran does not have enough Uranium to run many power plants, so they will run out of the stuff soon enough. Problem solved.
or do we?, hackers are in all countries, hezbollah via iran attacks israel and vice-versa, i dare say this was picked up early by iran, but they are using it to make the world think they are in trouble, just to buy some time, but israelis here automaticaly think it was them and gloat about it, i suspect something smells fishy here.
Well we know that was a lie. The virus attacks industrial controllers, not desktop workstations. Based on that obvious lie, we can be sure that the Stuxnet worm is still causing them problems.
The west have more to lose in state sponsored computer war, slippery slop. We can't even keep our secret in Afghanistan and Iraq from getting out into the public.
Stop crying State Terrorism!! Iran does enough of that Worldwide. YOu can't prove where it came from but the mere fact that you think Israel has the ability to do something so complex is a statement to its totally advanced technology. So let me ask you Nils. If Israel can do things like this why do they need to launch nukes???
... but more importantly, their setback is more G-d's internal scan and judgment of their illegitimate Regime, and there's more to come!
it is obvious they are lying to their teeth. they already have nuclear bomb.
What amazing logic makes you reach this conclusion ?
Wrong. What's obvious is, Ahmadinejad is jerking Israel's chain and laughing about it. Israel hasn't a scrap of evidence that Iran has, is building or has plans to build, a nuclear bomb.
and its for us to know and for you to never find out unless you have an itch you cannot control
I am against nuclear weapons period. But Israel’s hypocrisy on this issue will inevitably lead to one or several of its enemies to develop a deterrent to Israeli nukes”. Israeli leaders are Obsessive-neurotic-paranoid with delusions of grandeur
Talk about being hypocritical! Apparently it is no problem for you to to call Israelis "obsessive-neurotic-paranoid", but you avoid describing Mr. Ahmadinejad that way - he who sees "Zionist" plots on 9/11 and "Zionist" control of the world, and "Zionist" lies about the "Holocaust". How about some moral clarity? Do you really think Iran - which threatens to annihilate what he calls the "Zionist Entity", a UN member state, should even have conventional weapons? Do you think his government, which hangs people for the "crime" of being gay, should have control of anything? Double standards indeed!
Today balance of power exist in the ME. Israely nukes vs. Arab + Iranian + Muslim resources (population, territory etc.). It is already "deterrent to Israeli nukes”
..... those anti-Israelis on this site are indeed a collection of haters without borders....
are like with his mouth shut
Yes, Iran will obtain nuclear weapons, even if the mullahs are overthrown. Having spent about a quarter of the nations GDP on obtaining credible nuclear weapons capability, do you really think any Iranian regime would simply throw it all in the trash? Israel has illegally nuclear weapons, so Iran has also right to have nuclear arms to stop Israel.
so iran has the right to be illegal too? see what u say when ur little coppenhagen is covered in a nuclear dust storm. you will be eating more than words then.
Sabotage against Iran? I certainly hope so. Have no doubts that Iran is conducting war against Israel and Iran's Arab neighbors save Pakistan. The militant terrorists who currently control iran deserve evisceration, the sooner the better.
September 22, 2010 The Stuxnet Worm It's impressive: The Stuxnet worm is a "groundbreaking" piece of malware so devious in its use of unpatched vulnerabilities, so sophisticated in its multipronged approach, that the security researchers who tore it apart believe it may be the work of state-backed professionals. "It's amazing, really, the resources that went into this worm," said Liam O Murchu, manager of operations with Symantec's security response team. "I'd call it groundbreaking," said Roel Schouwenberg, a senior antivirus researcher at Kaspersky Lab. In comparison, other notable attacks, like the one dubbed Aurora that hacked Google's network and those of dozens of other major companies, were child's play. EDITED TO ADD (9/22): Here's an interesting theory: By August, researchers had found something more disturbing: Stuxnet appeared to be able to take control of the automated factory control systems it had infected – and do whatever it was programmed to do with them. That was mischievous and dangerous. But it gets worse. Since reverse engineering chunks of Stuxnet's massive code, senior US cyber security experts confirm what Mr. Langner, the German researcher, told the Monitor: Stuxnet is essentially a precision, military-grade cyber missile deployed early last year to seek out and destroy one real-world target of high importance – a target still unknown. The article speculates that the target is Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant, but there's not much in the way of actual evidence to support that.
and you are to arrogant to see this is just the first salvo in a war you will lose
I guess the virrus will strike Israel's own reactor. They will taste their own poison.
It is a world obsession - something happens and blame the Jews. We expect it! But let's look at the IF of Israel having created Stuxnet - are you Islamists really THAT stupid to thing WE don't have the cure? The only thing I'm tasting is the good wine we grow in the Golan, coupled with a really nice meal of lamb, salad, couscous and chips. MMMMMM YUMMY!
I would not count on it. May be if Iran deploys magic jinns on flying carpets
this destructive virus targets the brains of Ahmadinejad and his supporters too and renders them powerless..........
How I like this,how I like this.......!!!!!!!HiHiHiHi!!!!!!!!
Whoever did it - GREAT WORK!! Keep it up.
Given Israel's superior technology, maybe the time has come to cripple Iran's entire communications infrastructure by hacking into and taking down all of their computer networks. Besides, Israel can deny they had anything to do with it. Its bloodless, and better than bombs. After a few weeks, they will be ready to cooperate!
Which I posted a year ago in response to Mark Lincoln’s assertion that there was no evidence that Iran was seeking nukes and, even if it were, there was nothing Israel could do about it.
You know, rods go in water, heat the water, steam moves turbines, generates electricity. What's the point of shutting this down. What amazing victory has this virus achieved, zero. The rods are owned and serviced by the Russians.
Dont kid yourselves. and dont be so quick to rule out obamas admin playing this up to avert responsibility of having to take the military route. This is JUST a delay, and a good one, BUT, their program will have to be taken out militarily with gbu's and other such goodies.
Hooray for our nerds; hope they can get a date..
There will come a time in which an enemy of Israel will have a nuclear weapon and will have to decide how to use it. It may not even be Iran. Israel is living from day to day on this issue and there is nothing to be done about it.
....the good news is that in any nuclear Conflagration, your sorry behind will be irradiated along with the rest of ours.
When Israel decide to use it's own nuclear weapons agaisnt it's enemies...
At least the Jewish State sees who their enemies are with the proper perspective. In the US, Obama continues to refuse to protect US citizens from the Hezbollah-trained and financed narc-terrorists from Mexico. Recently, a tunnel was uncovered in San Diego originating in Mexico. Given the Obama "let me beg forgiveness from our enemies for prior acts of self-defense" policy, how long before Hezbollah and its narco-terrorist allies have a tunnel under your house in the South LA section?
The Hezbollah has nothing to do with Mexican gangs. "Financed by Hezbollah" LOL they have more money than hezbollah could ever dream of. If anyone has trained them it is the US trained Mexican military that can be bought. You want to stop the drug war it is only possible through legalization and turning the drug problem into a health problem. That is what they did to solve tha alcohol prohibtion problem they legalized it. Go get a history book and see why alcohol is legal now and just how lucrative the business was to corrupt police, politicians. They often out gunned the police without terrorist training. If you don't want to end the drug war then expect the continued violence. It is the insane person that does the same thing(drug war policy) for 90 years and expects a different result. Of course your CIA used their drug money to fund terrorists in San Salvador, trained by the US in at the "School of the Americas" google it and see what terrorism the US perpetrated
So what if they say their systems are down because of the virus and they are really playing us for fools. Pretty sure they probably have multiple back up systems. Israel isnt the only country that can lie, you know.
They can replace the computer in one week, and start again. Its not too difficult to do. I believe they are not supid and have good back up every day.
IF they don't have the worm backed up also!
They can just hit that big red button and the Geek Squad will come over. Actually, I'm sure this thing has infected everything on the network in such a way that they will have to replace every machine and start from scratch. And if they miss one, then they can start from scratch again. I'm sure they're having fun with it.
Dont kid yourselves. and dont be so quick to rule out obamas admin playing this up to avert responsibility of having to take the military route. This is JUST a delay, and a good one, BUT, their program will have to be taken out militarily with gbu's and other such goodies.

Whoever created that Virus, your one smart cookie - and I imagine you are celebrating. I am too!
Time for UN various useless organizations to probe and investigate The Crimes against Machinary, and condemn Israel. HAAHAA, how many more worms are there that no one knows about? I would be scared to death if I was an Iranian official.
With Iran in the fore front of acceptance and promotion of the Palestinian gay community, of which I am a proud member, this is a despicable act meant to undermine President Ahmadinejad's glorious agenda of universal peace harmony and free sexual orientation.
to my knowledge, most Muslim nations hang gays. Israel does not and doesn't have the death penalty. Perhaps gays who hate women are ignorant of this fact?
Iran is on the forefront of accepting and promoting "Palestinian" gays ??? True or not....is the president now also willing to accept that there are gays born and raised in iran ?
yaakov the fairy! hahaha....I thought ahmedinejad said there are no homosexuals in iran? hahahahahaha
Systems all over the world have been infected with the Stuxnet worm. Especially in Europe and India. It is a very dangerous worm which attacks Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition systems via their Programmable Logic Controllers. The PCL rootkit allows persons with knowledge of the worm - not just those who created it - to wreak havoc upon any plant utilizing SCADA PCL controls. Especially those built by Siemens. This worm gives those using it the ability to destroy plants, bring down power grids, devastate industries. The general assumption is that either the US or Israel created Stuxnet to target Iran. The authors of Stuxnet have in fact created what could become a disaster for much of the industrialized world. Even more ominous, hackers and crackers are acquiring samples which will serve as models for an entire new form of Cyberthreat. Like Ronald Reagan's 'neat idea' of fostering Islamist 'freedom fighters' which became Al Queada and the Taliban, Stuxnet is probably a 'neat idea' which will end up being the harbinger of a far greater threat to it's creators than it's intended target.
How do you know for a fact that Stux is "really" elsewhere in the world or how it is actually programmed? None of us know the reality of the situation, only what we are "told" or "leaked". Debka talked about it first. In the 70's the US did something similar to USSR. Stuxnet is the best news I have heard since the ayatollas kidnapped Iran from its people. Be sure that if some group was smart enough to program such a sophisticated attack against Iran, it is quite certain, they would know how to keep it contained. The "fact" that it supposedly appeared elsewhere may be just a smokescreen. Did you notice that there is hardly a peep in th emedia about this HUGE event? It is very strange indeed...
but, then again delusional "Like Ronald Reagan's 'neat idea' of fostering Islamist 'freedom fighters' which became Al Queada and the Taliban..." It was Carter, not Reagan...
Russia was called in because they have most the Windows source code now but the West including Israel uses far more computers than Iran, so this could backfire over time.
"It was found lurking on Siemens systems in India, Indonesia, Pakistan and elsewhere, but the heaviest infiltration appears to be in Iran, according to software security researchers." From AFP Bejing also carried on Agence France-Presse. Siemens is hardly going to tell people how bad it is, or factory owners that have found it in their networks. It is called creating panic and normally they manage these events. You need a huge wake up call to realize just how wide spread PLC control is. There also are not special PLC in Iran they come from the same factories as everyone else's. This is something very serious. Boilers in building are even controlled by PLC are you going to cheer if this hurts someone in China? Where will all you cheerleaders be when Iran takes apart the virus and uses it against western factories. Will you still love this "best news" you talk about?
"Bushehr is also being monitored by inspectors of the U.N. nuclear watchdog".
zballah to rearm. The UN is a waste of time and money. It is merely a majority of Muslim states that vote against EVERYTHING that is INFIDEL!! Imagine if there was no Security Council?? The world would constantly be at war. Remember that Israel did not use its nukes ever and the Americans massacred millions of Japanese to save soldiers lives. What about that collateral damage?? And you are worried about Israel???
This is what I call a "Clean" way of slowing down Iran's efforts to produce nuclear weapons ! Whomever is responsible for creating this Stuxnet worm should be rewarded with a Nobel prize for PEACE.
This power plant is for electricity use only. The Uranium cannot be transformed to military use. Get some education.
You actually believe that????
busher provides only 2.5 %. so Iran will need another 40 nuclear powerplants.
Only a real infidel could be fooled by this ruse!
Israel is our ally and we want to support her. Israel owns nukes...and by her narrow definition, Israel has not yet introduced nukes into the ME. Now, Iran wants nuclear capability...seems to be building capability...but they don't want anyone to know what's going oneither. So the problem is this: should the US attack Iran for doing exactly what our ally has. Of course Ahmadinijad's rhetoric is ridiculous...but are his words worth going to war?
Do we have here an official act of war against Iran?
official act of war? Haven't you heard? Nations are engaged in defensive actions, not war. No government today, except perhaps Hamas, has the intestinal fortitude to admit they are at war. It is a politically inadmissable faux pas.
The discovery of atomic/nuclear energy has led sadly to the wide demand for such power ....and the potential of wiping society off the planet. Now we see the newest threat of modern warfare. Diabling. We are so dependent on powerful computers to help us get by daily that we now see the risk of these computers being attacked from anywhere in the world.
Sounds good. That is the way to go Israel. Keep up the pressure.
for a while until they fight the virus and construct a firewall
the world will be surprised soon as to our ability to turn things around stay tune and donot laugh now the one who laugh the most is the one who laugh last
they are going to work the reactor on low level for three month then extract the spent fuel reprocess it and make a couple of bomb then later put the full fuel back and wait for six month to a year then produce 50 nuclear device we are doomed
I am fond of Jewish chicken soup! Maybe you have a good recipe for me?
this is cleary stateterrorism, how about Iran put a virus in the Dimona reactor plant?
Hello, you are claiming this is Israel's doing. Where is your proof? before you start blaming Israel.
Nils, you are obviously way too Swedish to even have a say in this matter. Look what is going on in your own Parliament. Time to clean up! - Don't you think? Or perhaps you voted Sverige Demokraterna for good measure?
try it
they are very welcome to try
Iran has been attacking the Israeli power grid since 2003(unsuccesfully I may add)What you sow thogh shalt reep,Kol Ha Kavod!!
but i wonder why people rate your laugh hahahahahahahahahaaahhaahahahhaa aa
hahahaha
Woohoohoohoohoohoo.......hooh!!!!!!
