IMI wins tender for 5 chemical plants in India
By Amnon Barzilai, Haaretz CorrespondentIsrael Military Industries has won a tender to set up five chemical plants in India as part of a $140 million deal with the Indian Defense Ministry, IMI announced Tuesday.
The plants, which will go up in the north Indian state of Bihar, will develop explosive materials and are due to be fully equipped within two years. The factories will resemble the ones that exist in Ramat Hasharon, near Tel Aviv.
IMI beat out companies from Europe and the U.S. to win the position of chief contractor for the project, which will utilize "all the knowledge and experience accumulated in the company over dozens of years," said IMI board chairman Aryeh Mizrahi.
