Following the incident, Marom wrote a letter of apology to Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi. In the letter, Marom said that he is aware of the fact that partying with strippers does not behoove an officer of his standing, and expressed remorse for his actions.

Marom spent most of his military service in the navy, where he served in a variety of positions of command, including deputy navy chief. He also served as Israel's military attache in Singapore.
Marom replaced Maj. Gen. David Ben-Baashat as navy chief at the end of 2007.
