IDF officer: I wouldn't live in same country as Goldstone

If the presence of Goldstone at any one country can assure me the lack of presence of a criminal of war such as Avi Mizrahi, then I truly need to move where Goldstone is. It is a must. I have to go living there, as close to Goldstone as I can.

...what scares me the most is the senior level of authority or moral authority that a lot of the officials and commentators have who espouse this type of fascism. It appears to be getting worse. First the loyalty oath and the Nakba, then Goldstone, then the NGO and human rights organizations, then the protesters at the fence, the arresting of the ACRI person at one of the protests, and I'm sure I am leaving other examples from recent times out. It is a dangerous trend that many of us warned about for years. Nobody listened. Now it is happening. And sadly, that means the other stuff that is most likely to happen will happen, and the unintended consequences, if they can be called that, will even be more shocking. As I have written here so many times. Peace would have been so much cheaper. And now the addendum is 'and so much better than the fascism that has overtaken Israel'.

He is an enemy of those who do not like Israel, for it is not Goldstone, but them who will try to use his miscarriege of justice to bring Israel down or die trying. He himself will not. The one whose enemy he is does not seek vengeance, he has only love. I would not envy Mr. Goldstone life. He terribly miscalculated when he signed up for this contract. We must keep him in the family and offer him every protection for soon those he truly marked out by accepting their gifts will be hunting him for his life is a reminder of their unbearable sins.

Goldstone is a good person assigned a difficult task, and he performed admirably. He has been at the forefront of prosecuting war crimes in Bosnia and Rwanda. He is not easily deceived by government leaders, religious zealots or the military. Videos, photos and first-hand interviews tell the truth more effectively than public relations ploys. Personal attacks against Goldstone further enhance his credibility. Israel's stonewall denial is the action of a destitute government that must appeal to emotion rather than logic. It is unfortunate the USA became part of this denial and attack. What could have been the foundation for a new peace effort was throttled with the USA attacks on Goldstone and his report. The rest of the world knows the truth.

the UN's go to guys when it comes to war crimes investigations, especially war crime investigations involving conflicting claims, battles being fought in urban settings, and both sides using every trick in the book to make themselves look good, and the other side look evil. No, all that matters to Avi is that Goldstone was a Jew, and that is reason enough to write off everything he has said. Isn't that usually the sign that someone is an anti-Semite?

The frequent and hysterical accusations directed toward Justice Goldstone and other Jewish critics of Israeli state policy as being "traitors to the Jewish people" are utterly ridiculous, but do remind me of the loyalty that fascists demand to the dominant race or tribe. I find it most illustrative that instead of attempts at factual rebuttal of the content of his report we are witnessing attacks on the personal integrity of Justice Goldstone. It shows that the facts collected by Goldstone and his team are robust.

he is a puppet of the united nations. goldstone is an ignorant person. only somebody ignorant could produce that report. it is the responsibility of the united nations to appoint an educated person for the task. the only possibility for this outcome is that the results were determined before actually checked anything. the un has a history of hostility towards israel. at a certain pint which is niot to far away, all intelligent & educated people will just ignore the un entirely as an irrelivent organization!

Israel should declare Goldstone an enemy not entitled to come to Israel under the Law of Return. He should be declared to have forfeited his rights - be banned from entering Israel- as a hostile enemy. Israel should add others to this list as well.

My advice to Mizrahi, regarding where to live, is to settle almost anywhere in Western Europe...and then he can be put on trial as a War Criminal.

Mizrachi comes over as completely blind and ignorant. The Goldstone report is a good, in-depth analysis of what actually happened. It is actually unbiased and neutral, despite the claims from Zios who usually haven't read it. And, alarmingly for Israeli senior officers, it is also evidence-based. If Israel and Mizrachi have alternative evidence to disprove anything written, let's see it. So far the Israeli response has been pathetic and very likely, in the case of the bombed flour mill, economical with the truth. The extremists can bash Goldstone as much as they like, he's got the world on his side. Let us hope this does not get to the ICC, or Mizrachi and chums may find life becomes rather uncomfortable.

I was watching a documentary the other night which reminded me that the core of fascism is loyalty to the collective based on race. As opposed to communism where the core is loyalty to the collective based on class. Democracies by contrast believe in individuals and loyalty to a person's state, but only a minimal level of loyalty is demanded, such as not selling state secrets to enemies. If you want to shout that your state is wrong, that your state is evil, nobody's going to be too bothered. That's democratic freedom of speech and conscience. This idea that Goldstone is a traitor to the Jewish people because he did a job of judicial investigation he was asked to, is basically fascist. If anybody had accused the judges here investigating the Bloody Sunday massacre by the Britiah Army of being traiors to the British people, most Brits would have rolled around laughing and assumed the speaker was a right-wing nutter from the BNP.

Goldstone has critically impacted Israel's right to defend itself in the future to curry favor with the "world" on the backs of his co-religionists, one of the most contemptible forms of human behavior. In contrast, Mizrachi is an extremely able, serious and responsible military man who has made the defense of Israel his career. Goldstone's lies are not worth the paper they are printed on, and indeed Jewish communities should exclude this traitor from any minyan. The Israel bashers here are ingorant of anything except their own anti-Israel bias.

The Goldstone report is being confirmed by several films and books. Mizrahi really needs to inform himself. He could start by watching "To Shoot an Elephant", where the footage of Israeli attacks on the personnel and hospital of Al Awda in Operation Cast Lead is particularly shocking.

Mizrahi is supposed to be a soldier not a right-wing political agitator. Unfortunately the two seem to getting slightly blurred sometimes in today's Israel. Goldstone can choose pretty much anywhere in the world he wants to live. Senior IDF officers like Mizrahi are already finding their travel options rather more limited and good thing too.

Here we find a decent Jew who spoke like a true Jew, a Kind Jew, an honest Jew, a Great Jew, based his report on facts and truth. Shame on those who demonize those who really truely care about Israel. Only the truth will free Israel from fear and distrution.

Did this officer say anything which is worth taking notice of? Admittedly, personal attacks do have some significance, but in the opposite direction from what was intended. Expressions of dislike alone, unsupported by criticism of the report, simply suggest that the report itself is not so easy to dismiss.

Does this officer really believe what he told the Yeshiva students, or was he tailoring his words for his audience - certainly music to their ears. If Mizrachi was not a Jew himself, and we were talking about a country not Israel - his speech would receive top marks for boorish anti-Semitism.

He wasn't chosen because he is Jewish. (This sentence sounds pretty funny, doesn't it?). You seem to have no problems living in the same country with hooligans who attack Palestinians in the West Bank and uproot olive trees.
