IAEA inspection team to visit Iran over failure to comply with demands

Team to view reports on nuclear program development; Iranian deputy interior minister: There is no military threat against Iran.

By Yossi Melman

A delegation of International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors is scheduled to visit Iran in the near future, an IAEA spokeswoman said Monday.

The goal of the visit is to settle disagreements over the United Nations nuclear watchdog's demands that Iran has failed to comply with: The handing over of documents related to its nuclear program, and clarifications over outstanding questions related to it.

The requested documents would help the IAEA comprehend the scope of the Iranian program, and its rate of progress.

The decision to send the delegation was made after Tehran's chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani invited the IAEA to do so during talks with IAEA head Mohamed ElBaradei.

Nevertheless, Iran has not changed its position of completely rejecting the IAEA and international community demand that it stop enriching uranium.

Iran's deputy Interior Minister Mohammad-Baqer Zolqadr said Monday that there is no chance of military action against his country.

The deputy minister said the United States is the only current military threat to Iran, and that "the chances of the U.S. attacking Iran militarily are zero." He did not refer to the possibility of an Israeli strike.

Zolqadr has served as deputy head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the most powerful branch of the Islamic Republic's military, which is responsible for Iran's missile forces.

Also Monday, Japanese banks announced that they are limiting loans to Iran, as well as the country's lines of credit. This constitutes a further widening of voluntary sanctions various states have implemented against Iran. These sanctions are in addition to the formal ones leveled against Iran by the UN Security Council, which only target trade connected to its nuclear and space programs, as well its arms trade.

I hate to say it folks, but given this level of ineptitude on the part of the world, it really does seem that way. After all, we all now what the consequences of this permissiveness toward the Iranian Mullahs will be. I wonder if Oppenheimer had something like this in mind when he made that famous quote about the death?

Nuclear Iran is Good For Israel

Actually I am of the opinion that a nuclear armed Iran and/or Syria is good for Israel. Here is why. The settlers in Israel have been controlling the agenda in Israeli politics, American politics, and IDF. They have have no desirte to compromise as evidenced by the continued stealing of Palestinian land and destruction of the dream of Palestinian statehood. With a nuclear-armed neighbor, they will suddenly realize the limit of power in dictating their terms on the region. The fear of another war will propel the peace makers in Israel to power and a deal will be struck based on something like the Saudi plan. Israel will relinquish the occupied territory, preserve a majority Jewish state, and co-oxist with their neighbors under a mutual deterrent umbrella. Otherwise, the conflict will never be solved as long as the settlers control the agenda.

"Perhaps the man reads Talkback...." - Clickfool Perhaps he does. I tend to think he is correct. But only because I am not certain that the armed forces would go along with orders to start another war, not because I think that the Bush junta, especially Dick Cheney would not order such an action.

Do any of you folks know what the nature and course of the IAEA inspection, safeguards and monitoring efforts are? Why was it that the IAEA was totally correct about the alleged Iraqi bomb program and the Bush junta totally wrong?

I see you've dragged yourself away from the video games to tell us all about neutron bombs again. You obviously missed Mark Lincoln's posts on the subject, but no doubt if you ask nicely he'll tell you once again why this idea is a load of old baloney.

    Like a Patient/ Etherised on a Table ...

Those who think Iran's aims 'peaceful' are indeed like etherised patients, dreaming hazily. And those who recoil from the idea of taking action are like Alfred Prufrock -- 'Dare I disturb the universe? Dare I eat a peach?' Iran's nuclear program is but a small piece -- albeit a particularly ominous one -- of a much larger problem: Iran's ambition to Shi'itize the entire fertile cresecent, if not indeed to islamize the world. Both of those ambitions are of course absurd, and stand *no* chance of succeeding. But the point here is what Iran is doing by way of attempting to make it happen -- providing weapons, mondy, training to fellow islamists who kill innocents, force a religion upon unwilling others, reject existence of particular nation-states, etc. Only way to stop all of this is to clip Iran's wings decisively, and ensure Iran that we're quite willing to do more than we actually do should the mullahs attempt retaliation. Oh, and my name is spelled with but one 'l' -- 'Eliot.'

"If Israel would try to attack Iran on her own, maybe US will be urged to intercept such an experiment in its early stages." An Israeli attack on Iran would only be possible if the USA gave Israel the transponder codes to fly over Iraq (and America probably needs to actively assist in refuelling the IAF aircraft). This would make the USA an accomplice to the aggression, and the consequences would be the same as if America had carried out the attack itself.

One may be in two minds about Iran's nuclear ambitions. But anyhow, if Iranians do not anticipate an US strike in the foreseeable future, they are realist. If Israel would try to attack Iran on her own, maybe US will be urged to intercept such an experiment in its early stages.

That is all. No real change. But IAEA found in Iran polonium-210, highly perishable, half-life of ONLY 138 DAYS, only used to make A-bomb triggers. This means Iran about to nuke Israel IMMINENTLY. Israel can stop Iran with neutron bombs on Iran and Syria. Read: http://www.neutroniran.blogspot.com/ Only alternative: H-bomb on Tehran but neutron bombs on military targets are much more gentle. But Iran is so centralized that it is a "one bomb" country if H-bomb used. Read: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/article.php3?id=6835 Neutron radiation destroys soldiers, not property, dissipates quickly. Then subsequent invasion is cakewalk. Invade Iran through Syria with ground forces to seize and destroy Iran nuke sites on the ground. Then no need to nuke underground Iran nuclear sites. Just take stairs, destroy with conventional explosives. ONLY way to get ALL Iran nuclear sites: INVADE! Fact: Israel WILL use nukes. Only question is whether Iran uses them first.

For the IAEA press release: http://www.iaea.or.at/NewsCenter/PressReleases/2007/prn200710.html Mr. Larijani has been working this in shuttle diplomacy see former IAEA press release at: http://www.iaea.org/NewsCenter/News/2007/Iran_Negotiator.html There are actually very few issues remaining between the IAEA and Iran. Mr. El Baradei stated several days ago that this mission should clear them up. The IAEA will not state unequivically that there is no ongoing Iranian bomb program until those points are resolved, but it has stated that there is no evidence of such a program. Please note that the IAEA HAS investigated intelligence supplied by US and Israeli sources and found them baseless. Unless Dumbya is willing to do something insane this 'crisis' will end not with a bang, but a whimper.* *My apology to T.S. Elliot.
