High school, junior high teachers to go on strike on Thursday
Teachers Union protests government 'foot-dragging' policy over signing new agreement.
High schools and most junior high schools will remain closed on Thursday due to a Teachers' Union strike over stalled negotiations on a new work agreement.
The Teachers' Union claims the government has avoided addressing their concerns and failed to fulfill their obligations.
"Lamentably, the treasury is continuing its foot-dragging policy and hasn't provided answers to our demands," Teachers' Union chairman, Ran Erez, wrote in a letter addressed to Education Ministry Director-General, Shmuel Abuav.
"The finance minister's promise to hold extensive, serious, continuous and daily negotiations has not been fulfilled," he wrote. "Since January 24, the day of his promise, only a few and fruitless meetings have been held."
