Hamas says it defused bomb outside Gaza parliament building
No group has claimed responsibility; Hamas' Executive Force says it is searching for the perpetrators.
By Reuters Tags: Hamas Fatah GazaA Hamas-led security force said on Sunday it found a bomb outside the Palestinian parliament building in the Gaza Strip, a development that could fuel tensions between governing Islamists and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction.
"We have thwarted a bombing attack against the parliament headquarters," said Islam Shahwan, a spokesman for Hamas' Executive Force that polices the territory.
He said the bomb contained 15 kg of explosives and was placed at the parliamentary compound's gate.
"The engineering unit of the Executive Force defused the device. The Executive force is searching for the perpetrators," Shahwan said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip in a violent takeover three months ago.
Tensions between the two groups continue to be high and have erupted in violence in the Gaza Strip in a series of Fatah-organized open-air prayer meetings, banned by Hamas, over the past several weeks.

But why does Israel continue to back Fatah and encourage civil war between the supporters of Fatah and Hamas? Actually, if Israel could but see it, your plan has a lot of merit! I used to think that if the Gazans transferred to the WB and the WB settlers relocated to Gaza that would give Palestinians their state in the WB and Israel would have its state which includes Gaza. But your plan has the benefit of no-one having to move at all. In fact, Jordan would then become the Palestinian state? As it is now, the population of Jordan is 70% Palestinian..but who would have what is now the WB?
Hamas has banned praying and beats the people who do it.
From my point of view, hamas should now plant another bomb on the outside of Fatah government. It would be a balanced response.
The Arabs of Western Eretz Yisrael have consistently demonstrated that they are incapable of unaided survival, especially at the national polity level. They constantly kill and steal from each other and lie to themselves, each other and the rest of the world. They never miss any opportunity to make atrocious choices and mistakes and they are incapable of sustaining and providing for themselves; they depend on others for everything. How on earth will they ever make it?
Israel should let Hamas to depose Abbas and smash Fatah, also in Judea and Samaria, in order to make it easier to abolish the PA and wipe it off the world map and consciousness. It will also open the way for the Kingdom of Jordan to take charge as the only viable nation state of all the Arabs of Greater Palestine. Having got rid of the PA, Israel and Jordan should agree on the border between them in Judea and Samaria and maybe cede Gaza to Egypt that would sort it out quite smartly. Everybody, Jews and Arabs, should continue to live in peace where they are and nobody should move from their homes or land. Israelis who would thus become residents of the Kingdom of Jordan should be given rights and conditions like the Arabs in Israel.
Hamas should also detonate the big bomb outside Jerusalem, i.e. the PA government in Ramallah. That would involve a very large loss of life, don't you think?
the PA government in Ramallah.
