Hamas: Next war with Israel will be regional conflict

Political leader Meshal accuses Israel of making threats against Gaza, Syria and Lebanon.

Hamas political leader Khaled Meshal warned on Friday that should another war erupt with Israel, the majority of battles would not be contained to the Gaza Strip as they were during the conflict last winter.

Meshal told the London-based Al-Hayyat that Hamas was not interested in seeing another war, but would embark on steadfast defense of the Palestinian people should one begin.

Speaking during a visit to Russia, Meshal accused Israel of making threats of war in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.

He said the quickening tide of military threats was the result of Israel's leadership under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberma and Defense Minister Ehud Barak - the latter to whom he referred as "the most extremist."

The Hamas leader also blamed Israel over the failure in Russian attempts to mediate between the two enemies, with regard to peace negotiations and efforts to see abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit released from Palestinian captivity.

Meshal's visit to Russia angered Israeli officials, who sent a letter of protest to Moscow over the matter.

There are no "people of Gaza and west bank"; those are arabs who came to live in the Land of Israel relatively recently. They do not constitute a separate ethnic entity. To achieve peace, those arabs must be resettled on East Bank of Jordan, as was planned by the international community long time ago.

There are just Arabs who live in the Land of Israel. Arab countries are very big and many are very rich. If so-called "Palestinian" Arabs like being Arab so much, why don't they just go there to live instead? Leave Israel in peace. Egypt and Jordan got it right. Now the others need to learn... and the Israelis need to realise that it is a lesson best taught by force.

When are you guys ever going to ear that the land is not the Palestinians, never was and never will be. There is NO SUCH THING as a Palenstinian people. Read your history dufuss brains. Meshal is wrong. It will not be a regional conflict next time. Their so-caled Arab brothers could care less aboout them. As a matter of fact they often speak in private aboout them like the whites did to the blacks back in the slavery days. They only are using them as a tool in their hatred of the Jew. Wake up people.

"Egypt and Jordon learnt that peace is preferable to war. When will the rest of the region?" When the occupation ends and the people of the West Bank and Gaza are free of Israeli subjection.

It's about time for Israel to learn that another war would not be in their favor, both strategically as well as diplomatically. It will evaporate any legitimacy left about Zionism and Israel and any leftover sympathy for Israel will evaporate. It?s about time that Israel either pulls back from all occupied territories or integrates it with full rights to all.
