Hamas leader in Cairo for talks on captured IDF soldier Shalit
Meshal to meet with senior Egyptian officials; Haniyeh said Tuesday Shalit issue would be resolved in 2 weeks.
By Avi IssacharoffDamascus-based Hamas political leader Khaled Meshal arrived Wednesday night for a surprise visit to Cairo, during which he is scheduled to meet with senior Egyptian officials.
According to Palestinian sources, Meshal will discuss a prisoner exchange involving captured Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit, who was abducted in a June cross-border raid along the Gaza Strip.
Shalit is being held by a number of Palestinian groups, including Hamas, although the Army of Islam, one of the groups believed to be holding Shalit, said recently that the soldier was being held exclusively by Hamas.
Meshal does not visit Cairo often, and during his last visit roughly two weeks ago expectations were high that he had arrived in Egypt in order to accept the Egyptian proposal for a prisoner swap, although ultimately there was no breakthrough in the talks.
Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh told the Palestinian Legislative Council on Tuesday that the issue of Gilad Shalit would be resolved within roughly two weeks.

...generation until a PA Ghandi, that is. Actually, there are some qualified people now, but emerging would get them killed real fast. If Israel were run properly, it would divert as many resources as possible to improving and providing real Human Rights education to Israelis, Israeli Arabs, and PA Arabs. Ever heard of Givat Haviva? It's a model that might work on a larger scale, if anyone had the vision to try. That way, at least the next generation might have a chance.
No hope of that happening for about 6 generations. No hope at all.
Well, they admit/don't admit to having Shalit. They admit/don't admit Israel exists. They admit/don't admit Israel has a right to exist. They admit Gilad is worth more then any Palestinian alive. So, I guess they admit the Israelis are far superior to their own. I believe that much!! The rest is a guessing game.
Hamas from the election to now have NOT moderated. They have been squeezed and strangely Abbas joined with them. This is all they have.Shallit. So they are playing it out. Lets get Shallit and then do what we have to do.
If this is a chess game, then Israel is losing big time. Look at all the mileage the Pals are getting for this one kidnapping. It reminds of the pawn that threatens to queen. (A foot soldier that becomes one of the more valuable pieces on the board.)
"Agreement om Shalits release is due in 2 weeks.." Plaestinians have shown their true animalistic culture.Israelis captured by the Palestinians either into Gaza, WB or Lebanon are treated in violation of International laws of Geneva Convention. So are their own people captured by various terror organizations. Shalits fate is the same as the fate of Arad.By all accounts and track record of Palestinians and Hezbollah Shalit is condemned to death if not dead already. Let's not fall into the trapp Meshal set up. Do not give up even one terrorist in Isareli prison until Shalit is handed over to a neutral country for transfer to Israel. If he is transfered alive release on terrorist in Israeli jail with time served close to its maximum. MESHAL, HANIYA, ABBAS,BURRIED. ALL THE JEW HATERS DON NOT WRITE POATS THAT ISRAEL HAS THOUSANDS OF PALESTINIANS "KIDNAPPED" IN JAIL. THEY ARE TREATED HUMANLY MANY COMPLETE UBIVERSITY EDUCATION. SOME MAY EVEN BECAME MORE HUMANE IN OUTLOOK OF THE NON ,
I wonder what the smiling Meshal hopes to achieve in life? He has been responsible for many thousands of dead, maimed, wounded, tortured, & abducted, not to mention an entire generation of pal youngsters brought up with the ideas that the AK47 is king, suicide bombers are heroes, Jews are not even on the level of dogs, & building infrastructure/schools/hospitals & so on is anethema (qassams are far more important). I'm sorry, but I don't buy the argument that if you occupy a people, this will be the reaction & therefore, Israel 'had it coming'. This man & the leadership & ideology he represents, are evil; there can be no other description. When will the next Ghandi figure rise up???
"Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh told the Palestinian Legislative Council on Tuesday that the issue of Gilad Shalit would be resolved within roughly two weeks..." Do you think the representative of the Pales can keep his word? Put your money where your mouth is Hanyieh! The world will see in 2 weeks if they can be trusted or they are liers.
