Haifa court sentences man to 10 years incarceration for raping nieces
62-year-old Haifa area resident arrested for sexually abusing his 7-year-old granddaughter.
The Haifa District Court on Wednesday sentenced a 37-year-old Kiryat Bialik resident to ten years in prison and a two-year suspended sentence for repeatedly raping his nieces while they were minors.
The court also ordered the man to pay NIS 20,000 to each of his victims, now aged 26 and 28.
The man perpetrated the crimes at the home of his nieces' grandparents - his residence at the time - between 1987 and 1998.
Also Wednesday, a 62-year-old Haifa area resident was arrested for sexually abusing two of his daughters and his 7-year-old granddaughter.
According to Commander Kobi Becher of the Zevulon police, a local school reported to police that a student of theirs had been watching pornography.
The subsequent police investigation revealed that the girl's grandfather repeatedly sexually abused her while watching pornographic films.
The girl's family was initially unwilling to cooperate with the investigation.
The man's wife told police that he used to abuse his two daughters, now 28 and 35, when they were seven.
The suspect denied the allegations. He will be brought for the extension of his remand on Thursday.
