Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas proposed an American-led NATO presence in a future Palestinian state, saying that an Israeli military presence and settlements in the West Bank could be gradually removed for up to 5 years - a departure from the three years he had previously proposed - after a peace agreement is signed. 

Israel has offered Turkey $20 million in compensation for the families of the nine Turkish nationals killed and to those wounded during the Gaza flotilla raid, in hopes of Turkish laws voiding legal action against Israeli soldiers and normalizing ties between the two countries.
