Israel Air Force planes struck targets in the Gaza Strip early Tuesday morning, in response to rocket fire directed at the southern town of Sderot. According to reports, two F-16 jets attacked sites in the Strip's north.

Palestinians across the West Bank and in Gaza welcomed home the 26 prisoners freed from Israeli jails on Tuesday night. "You are just the beginning and the rest will come," said Palestinian President Abbas.

Former Defense Minister Ehud Barak accused former Israel Defense Forces Chief Gabi Ashkenazi of heading a group of officers who worked to thwart the elected government using methods he called "prime facie criminal."
