In previous instances Israel did not retaliate militarily and spent years negotiating, not even knowing if the abductees were alive or not. In most cases the result was releasing hundreds of prisoners for bodies. I would be prepared to conject that had Britian had had former experiences that ended in this way, they too would have taken a different stance.

Carmela, I fully agree with you. Last year I (now 70) with my wife and a large group were on vacation in Israel. We travelled the whole country from Dan to Eilat and 5 days in Jerusalem. A wonderful experience for all of us. Big question: why not live side by side in peace for the benefit of the country and her inhabitants. Now there is so much suffering on both sides. We spend half a day working in Hazon Yeshaya, soupkitchens in Jerusalem. So much hidden poverty. We pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and hope the leaders getting wise and don't make war.
