Gaza zookeepers draw crowds with zany 'zebras'
The zoo's only two zebras died of hunger during the war in Gaza and were too expensive to replace.

The Marah Land Zoo's only two zebras died of hunger earlier this year when they were neglected during the war in Gaza. The popular animals were too expensive to replace, so the keepers decided to design a pair of donkeys with black and white patterns instead.
Ahmad Barghouti says a professional painter used French-manufactured hair coloring to make the donkeys look like zebras.
Hasan Yaseen said on Thursday that since his three children have never seen a real zebra, they enjoy the Gaza version.
Aside from the two 'zebras,' the zoo also flaunts an aging tigress, two monkeys, and a selection of birds, rabbits and cats.

The poor Gazan people need some comic relief for all the despair these two charlatan clowns have attempted in their pathetic "political" pontifications over the years.
I thought you were asking to find out what happened in the Zoo. If this is the case how come you conclude that Israelis trashed the Zoo based on the answer from Proud Israeli who says: The soldiers found the trap in time, videotaped it and left. I do not see him saying soldiers trashed the Zoo and left. The video he mentions does not show any trashing either. Could it be that the allegations about the IDF deliberately massacring zoo animals in Gaza you were referring to in your first post were made by you because that is how you sound in your second post? By the way during WWII Berlins Zoo was fortified by Nazis and as the result of that destroyed by allied forces. Are you proud of that? I bet you are.
wow justin, wow,wow, gee golly gee, how can people really be like this??? perhaps you should learn some history beyond what you read in the newspapers and on websites. The reality is alot more complicated than what you seem to have.

Painting things to look like what they are not is what the Palestinian do. Not just with zoo animals but also with the Goldstone kangaroo Report which was largely based on false and misleading information supplied to the gullible author by Hamas.
WOw, that is just sickening. How people could treat other humans in this manner is truly disgusting. How scared can a people be to justify treating others like this? Yuck. The amount of children suffering at the hands of the powerful side in this situation, is frightening. How can anyone feel good about themselves if they condone this type of treatment of other human beings? My goodness this is just really too, too bad. The Palestinians are turning out to be the most resilient people on this earth. Wow.
They've done it before. They destroyed the Gaza zoo on their last operation there. And they destroyed it again this time.
What a magnanimous gesture it would be for Israel to replenish the Gaza zoo with a pair of zebras and other animals, together with some help in housing them in suitable conditions, as a gift from the people of Israel, or is this too much to expect?
Israeli army video footage during the 2009 Gazan war found the Gazan zoo and an adjacent school packed with explosives and booby-trapped to snare Israeli soldiers. The soldiers found the trap in time, videoed it and left. This is the brutal world that Hamas "creates". Creates is kind of a misnomer, though, because they create destruction, even if it is at the detriment to their own children where they will blow up their own schools and zoos in order to kill Israelis. this zoo will be renamed the Israeli national zoo, when Gaza and W.B. become one-state under Israel.. Hurting animals is no joke....If you can't feed your own people you feed your animals...sad And an Omen of things to come..

If you google Israel and "Gaza zoo" you get a lot of allegations that the IDF deliberately massacred zoo animals in Gaza. Anyone know if this is true?
