Galilee rumbles as quake shakes northern Israel

Seismologists confirm earthquake measuring 3.0 on Richter Scale; no injuries or damage.

Weeks after a series of shattering earthquakes rocked Haiti and Chile, Israelis received their own small reminder that geological fault lines are not too far away as the ground rumbled in the Galilee on Saturday.

Residents near the northern town of Carmiel reported late-night vibrations which seismologists later confirmed as a minor quake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale. No damage or injuries were caused.

In 2008 Israel was hit by a 4.1-magnitude quake with its epicenter in Lebanon, which caused damage across the country, ripping open a large hole in the Temple Mount plaza outside the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and bringing down a house in the West Bank.

Israel also suffered four successive jolts in a four-week period in 2007.

The last major earthquake to strike the area was in 1927, measuring more than 6.0 Richter scale and killing 500 people.

Israeli experts say that because of population growth and high-rise construction, an earthquake of the same magnitude today would kill more than 18,000.

Unfortunately for the Israeli people, the greatest earthquake mankind will witness has yet to come. First, Damascus will be devasted by a quake, due to its hostility against Israel. Secondly,Turkey in its new political landscaping will not be spared from the watershed. Finally, Jerusalem, when it dishonors itself, when it allows the abomination to enter into its House of Prayers after repeated warnings from the two greatest prophets Yahweh shall send. I pray for the "One True God" of the universe and Israel limits his anger for the world to see Jerusalem as the beacon for all nations and the Blessings that come fourth by Yeshua Himself.

A 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck central Chile on february 27 triggering a tsunami. The quake that devastated Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, in January 12 was magnitude 7.0. The quake epicenter was located 200 miles southwest of Santiago and 70 miles north of Concepcion, Chile's second largest city, with a population of around 670,000. The largest earthquake EVER recorded struck southern Chile on May 22, 1960. That magnitude 9.5 quake killed 1,655 people and left 2 million homeless. If this article claims that such a small tremour as an 6.0 earthquake -God forbid- would strike Israel leaving 18.000 dead, the death toll of a Chilean-style earthquake would be worse than Hamas and Hezballah shooting all their terror-missiles over innocent Israelis combined. Time to take earthquakes seriously, and not only worry about it while sipping tea. Chag Sameach, Roberto Feldmann.

May a three degree earthquake be the worst shock Israel receives from Mother Nature. May bigger ones shake what's necessary to shake in politics so that wisdom prevails and a safe, peaceful, Jewish and democratic Israel can live in peace with its neighbours, as Mother Earth keeps the jolts only at this scale. Building in a serious, anti-sismical way should be a law In Israel, if that isn't yet the case. Chag Sameach, Roberto Feldmann.
