Word of the Day / Minzar: How a petty official in Sumeria morphed into monastery
What the prophet Nahum originally meant by the word is lost in history, but it almost certainly wasn't 'crown.'
A minzar is a monastery, home to Christian monks (nezirim) and nuns (nezirot), usually not together. But the word predates Christianity and in fact, was only applied to monasteries quite recently.
