An Hebrew sneeze has a sound all of its own, and a name to match.
If you had to sneeze right now, you probably wouldn’t say, "I'm about to 'achoo.'” But although there is a proper Hebrew word for sneezing (the infinitive form is “lehitatesh”), the act of convulsively expelling air from your nose and mouth is often referred to as “making an apchee (AHP-chee),” the Israeli take on the sound of a sneeze.
