When illustrator and Holocaust survivor Miriam Katin learned her son was moving to Berlin, she almost collapsed. Then she wrote a comic book about the ordeal and saw things differently.
In the middle of one night about six years ago, in their apartment in New York, Miriam Katin and her husband were awakened and roused from their bed by an overseas Skype video call on their computer. It was their son Ilan, now 40, calling while on a visit to Berlin.
