U.S. wealth trickles down - to Likud candidates
Israel's ruling party boasts many American sponsors, who often support multiple primary candidates.
Alan Messner is a New York businessman who owns buildings in Williamsburg and elsewhere in Brooklyn, and is also involved in Israeli politics. In the Likud primaries, Messner, as befits a cautious investor, diversifies. In August he sent $1,000 each to three candidates - Gideon Sa'ar, Zeev Elkin and Gilad Erdan.
