The Israeli dreamer with a Palestinian passport
Ofer Bronchtein spent the golden days of the early 1990s, when peace seemed right around the corner, advising Yitzhak Rabin on how to negotiate with our enemies. Twenty years on, he insists, the dream is not dead.
PARIS - Ofer Bronchtein and I are chatting on the terrace of the Paris delicatessen "Florence Kahn," in the main square of the old Jewish neighbourhood of Marais. Every 10 minutes, though, our conversation is interrupted as he says hello to yet another familiar passer-by.
