Iron Dome might save Amir Peretz's legacy, but it has many fathers

$50.000 is cheap if one life is saved and hundreds of lives have been saved, just imagine if 150 rockets all directed to populated centers would have reached their destination, we put value on lives not money

50.000 dollars rocket to intercept a 300 dollars Qassam rocket. At this rate Israel will not have enough iron dome rockets to intercept all Qassam rockets.

And while US is struggling to pay their debts, they are sending Izrael all this money for what? What good will it do for US? Has Izrael sent any aid for the citizens of the US while they are homeless? The ones affected by Sandy? The ones affected by Hurricane Katrina? NO! and that's is exactly why US should not aid these money hungry nation!

My humble guess is the enemy simply needs create extra low cost dummy shells that draw the fire of the 'Iron Dome' and wait until either Israel's supply chain for the system missiles or the bank account run's dry and it's 'game over' for Iron Dome.

Amir Peretz was ridiculed for one second looking into the binoculars when they were capped. His English was and probably still is one of the worse among our politicians. But taking away the credit that is due is low. Of course there were also others pushing for this project. Does that take away the credit due to him? We need to erect a statue for him. On the one hand the article wants to take the credit away from Amir Peretz and on the other hand still criticizing the cost of the system. I guess it is costly and for every grad or similar projectile that costs only hundreds of dollars we have to pay tens of thousands of dollars to shoot it down! So what? On the one hand we can have no Iron Dome and would probably have hundreds of causalties and on the other hand we spend so much much money and have less than 5 fatalities with the system. I would definitely want the latter. "American Tax payers'". A terminology used by Americans when they are against some kind of an expense or another. GOVERNMENTS ALWAYS SPEND TAXPAYERS MONEY TO PROTECT THEIR CITIZENS, BUILD NATIONAL PROJECTS, PROVE HEALTHS SERVICE AND YES TO IMPLEMENT GOVERNMENT POLICY. YES WHAT IS BILLION DOLLARS BETWEEN FRIENDS IF THAT SAVES HUNDREDS OF LIVES. In an indirect way Iron Dome is also protecting the Gazans! If we had many causalties as a result of a total lack of protection against the terrorists' missiles 100,000 troops would probably have already been there and fighting HAMAS and in the process possibly .causing high collateral damage.

After the Lebanon fiasco Peretz image was shattered and he and Olmert needed som kind of face saving measure to try cover up their failure. During the war rocket fire had been a problem so Peretz & Olmert came up with the idea to counter the kind of missiles Hezbollah use same way Arrow counters ballistic missiles. The system also had to be domestically, didn't matter if the Americans had aleady made something and we just had to buy it, it must be domestic to create feel good factor. They gave Rafael about $500 million ad then said make something and then told the public an Israeli made defense system was now being developed. As far as Olmert & Peretz were concerned how well the system worked wasn't important, all that mattered was right now they were seen as doing something so rockets will never be a threat again to restore public confidence. The only ones who deserve any credit are the engineers at Rafael who delivered on budget, on time a system that worked and we have the Ameicns to thank for funding the purchase of the first two batteries. Peretz doesnt deserve sny credit for anything other than hs cintribution to the Lebanon screw up.
