Far-rightists call Rahm Emanuel a traitor to the Jewish people

Extremists threaten to protest the White House Chief of Staff's upcoming visit to Israel.

By Haaretz Service Tags: Israel news

Prominent far-right activists Itamar Ben Gvir and Baruch Marzel wrote a letter to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel over the weekend, threatening to protest his upcoming visit to Israel, Army Radio reported on Sunday.

Gvir and Marzel attacked Emanuel's allegiance to Israel and the Jewish nation. "You are like the Hellenists who acted against the Israeli nation. You advise President Obama against Israel, and incite and instigate against us. You are a traitor against the entire Jewish people," Army Radio reported, quoting the letter.

Emanuel is due to visit Israel in the coming months to celebrate his son's bar mitzvah.

Emanuel reportedly told the Israeli consul in Los Angeles recently that the Obama administration is fed up with both Israel and the Palestinians.

Emanuel told Jacob Dayan, consul general of Israel in Los Angeles, that the United States is sick of the Israelis, who adopt suitable ideas months too late, when they are no longer effective.

Rahm Emanuel is a servant of WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and not a servant of Israel or the servant of the dual-citizens of USA/Israel. He is doing and saying what is right for our country, and thats to be playing fair. So many of you have made claims that Jewish people do not infiltrate foreign governments to favor Israel but yet here it is expecting him to be biased towards Israel because he is a Jew. Hypocrites!

Rahm Emanuel does not speak for all Americans when he said we are sick of Israel. We are isolationists at heart and feel uncomfortable arbitrating ME disputes as the superpower. We'd prefer to hand that job back to England. Most of us see Israel in the same way we see England, Canada and Australia; an ally in the WoT. Our media tends to trend pro-Israel and doesn't convey pro-Palestinian sentiment. The far left and right wing fringes are another story. I don't know how much any anti-Israel sentiment is fueled by some visceral Antisemitism or the naive belief that the jihadists will go away when Israel does. However, Oil wealth is driving jihadists; Israel is just their casus belli. Rahm Emanuel just strikes me as another global socialist who thinks he can ride this tiger until the NWO can be imposed.

So many frustrated people on this forum, pitifully commenting on Rahm's successful marriage while clearly they have been unable to find someone to marry them, Jew or not. Otherwise they'd be busy taking care of their family rather than insulting a fellow Jew who no longer lives in medieval times like they do. Plus get real: half of American Jews don't marry a Jew and they could not care less what some uneducated, primitive people think.

Jews obey the "five" commandments set forth in the Tanakh: Love the Lord your God; Love your neighbor as yourself; Do justice; Love kindness; Walk humbly with your God. These are all that is required to be a good Jew. Being a successful politician in today's Israel is a different story entirely.

Peace is made between peoples, not governments.War is made between governments, not peoples. As von Clauswitz put it, war is an extension of politics. A war mongering politician is the ultimate threat to his people. True in Europe. true in Asia, true in America. So, too, in Israel. Why do you suppose Bush lost the last election?

thanks for asking this question. Israel constitutional court most recently issued decree that any oath of loyalty ( to any state ) violates the freedom of speech. Marzel, may G-d give you strength to continue to defend the Jewish people, including the Rahms of the world, who would rather sell out his fellow Jews than stand up to his Boss and his insane vision of change. Ulterior motives are not allowed in conversions. Panting after a shiksa like a Tasmanian devil and her panting back has NOTHING to do with a genuine desire to enter the Jewish people as a Jew and won't make her Jewish. Stop being a crybaby! Wedding conversions are FAKE. If Rahm had never gotten intimate with the shiksa, do you honestly believe in your wildest dreams that she would have on her own decided she wanted to be a Jew out of the blue? Of COURSE not! Only a conversion WITHOUT any ulterior motive is genuine. ALL INTERMARRIAGE CONVERSIONS ARE FAKE, merely designed to whitewash PANTING AFTER A SHIKSA like a Tasmanian devil. Any rabbi, regardless of denomination, who perpetrates this fraud is dividing the Jewish people, AS RAHM EMANUEL IS with his traitorous salami-slicing sellout of Israel. It's not Rahm who' saying the current Israeli government does not want peace, it's every country in the world. Just read any newspaper in North America or Europe: they all say the far right in Israel makes it impossible to go towards peace. The foolish development of settlements in the West bank and the expulsion of Palestinian families in East Jerusalem are a clear sign that the government is not interested in peace. Unhappily, as a consequence, people in the West are less and less interested in Israel because they think they no longer want to make any effort to solve their problem.

The extreme right commonly use bullying tactics in an attempt to intimidate those who did not agree with their extremist views. One thing I learned a long time ago is to stand up to thugs like this and let them know in no uncertain terms that intimidation doesn't work. I had hoped the Obama administration would have the courage to make clear all their intimidation in the world won't make a darn bit of difference. Let the right protest all they want but never give in to them.

Hey Doc - have you been shooting up some of those medications you prescribe. George Bush's administration was without question one of the MOST friendly towards the jewish state! Obama, with his Jewish advisors, has on the other hand been one of the most one sided administrations - against Israel - in the history of the Jewish state! Emmanuel should not be permitted to enter Israel - he should be on the same kinds of lists as any enemy of the state of Israel is. I would even go so far as to call him a "KAPO". Google if you don't know what that means.

of the global Jewish community and majority of Israelis. Any comments of being a traitor or anti-Semitism are totally inappropriate and moderate Orthodox Rabbis would substantiate this 100%. It is unacceptable that such commentary be given to a dedicated Jew and Israeli. What those who do not understand the perspective of reaching a fair peace agreement with the Palestinians and in addition to reconciliation with the rest of the Arab world - is imperative to the continuation of Israel's legitimacy and contributions in the name of humanity. The decades of this misunderstanding and consensus within the Jewish community has only galvanized the radical elements of Islam which have witnessed the conflict not being solved due to fear of reconciliation. The Palestinians are equally responsible for the radicalization of those who are intolerant and lack compassion to the Jewish narrative in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The right wing in Israel is a bigger threat to Israel than Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas and they are kindred spirits. They allow their hatred of Arabs to turn the entire region into a giant tinderbox and will one day set it ablaze. The Israel of David Ben Gurion did not call Jews whose opinion differed from theirs "self haters," "enemies of the State," and worse and the right wing is going to cause a tremendous conflagration that will eventually take the lives of thousands of innocents on both sides. Israeli governments let this cancer of hate grow and it will one day consume the entire region. These right wingers are no better than the hate filled Hamas and Hezbollah. Hatred does not build, it destroys, and these right wingers are making Israel, once a light unto nations, a nation of darkness.

With current intransigent Neganayahoo policy that do not fit agenda of people trying to warm up hands on selling Ierushalaim prime properties at fire sale price... their economical viability to bosses dwindling faster than Himalayan glaciers. One has to note that intransigence in neo - nazi camps is a good thing. And I would not bet that Mr. Rahm visit is to change the colors... he will be doubling the stakes. Watch for Livni's agly contortions in an attempt to prove her party is not in persistent vegitative state. And for her Arab friends increasing military preparations. Anyone who believes that Israel is going back to the 67 borders and is conveying that message to the Palestinians is a fool and is hurting both sides of the conflict and deferring peace. Israel cannot move the 600,000 Jews from Gilo, Ramot, Gush Etzion, Ariel, Kiryat Arba, Shilo, Kdumim, Ofra, Eili, Maale Adumim etc. Israel was unable to move 10 families out of a certain neighborhood in Eili because Roi Klien's wife resides there. If you understand the Zionist movement you'd understand that Israel will not leave Israelis in a future Palestinian state. Israel can't go to the 67 borders and give PA control of borders for many reasons including - Tel Aviv Location -BG airport -weapon smuggling that occurred in Gaza and Lebanon -weapons turned against Israel in 96 and 2000 and Gaza The Arab leaders refused peace in 47, 67 and 2000 and attacked Israel in the most vicious fashion and their people were partners in the attacks and the Palestinians will have to pay the price of their acts.

Of course its easy to be a right wing armchair apologist, then again I do happen to care for my country. My country is called Eretz Israel. A country of which I am proud of. A country that I have served with dignity and honor, a country that is now divided by legions of foreigners who believe in biblical mumbo jumbo that has given MY COUNTRY no other choice but to face off with most of the world as a rebellious state. Mr.Rahm Emanuel is the Chief of Staff to Pres.Obama. He is an American citizen. Pres.Obama relies on his input. Mr.Emanuel has to be honest. His personal feelings may never be published. Even though his father came from Israel. The fact that he will visit Israel for his sons Bar Mitzvah is already placing him in an awkward position. Calling him a traitor to the Jews, is way over the top. In fact, the so called Rightists, whose only claim to fame, is, dividing the good people who live and labor within the green line, not the layabouts that squat on hilltops creating disorder and most of all defying the laws of the State of Israel. The word traitor, is normally used, as in the case of treason. I see no call for such misconceptions, neither that said remarks should be published, less so by Haaretz. Good day.
