Egypt to fund translations of Israeli authors Amos Oz, David Grossman
Head of Egypt's National Center for Translation says hopes to sign contract with authors' British, French publishers next month.

The head of Egypt's National Center for Translation, Jaber Asfour, said he hoped to sign a contract next month with the authors' British and French publishers, "without having to go through the Israeli publishers."
The minister, Farouk Hosni, has said that if he could, he "would burn Israeli books in Egyptian libraries." He apologized for this remark after submitting his candidacy to head UNESCO.
