Egypt discovers massive arms cache destined for Gaza
Security forces find 100 anti-aircraft missiles, 40 RPGs and 40 others explosive devices in Sinai depot.
By Jack Khoury Tags: smuggling tunnel Gaza Israel newsEgyptian security forces uncovered a massive arms cache in the central Sinai Peninsula before dawn on Thursday allegedly intended for smuggling into the Gaza Strip, according to the Egyptian daily Al-Yum a-Saba.
The cache included 100 anti-aircraft missiles, 40 RPG missiles and 40 other explosive devices.
The commander of Egypt's security forces in Sinai, General Mohammed Najib, was tipped off to the cache after he was notified that suspected arms smugglers had succeeded in stashing their weapons in the area.
Security forces and sappers have cleared the ammunition from the storage sites, many of them places which have served in the past as battle zones.
The Egyptian forces suspect the smugglers to be Sinai Bedouin who collected weapons found following battles with the goal of sneaking weapons into the Gaza Strip.

Egypt is also protecting itself, Hamas in Gaza would be more than willing to align with the Muslim Brotherhood in an attempt to overthrow the Egyptian Government, using those very arms to do so
why does Egypt care for the safety of the Israelis while obviously the vast majority of Egyptians hate israel ?
1. They could bring food in the same way the bring the weapons. 2. How would anti-aircraft misiles help them bring more food?
Gazans, Like all Palestinians are starving for Freedom and Human Rights.
One small shipment found which is good but too little, too late.
Look at any film footage from Gaza and it will immediately become apparent that Gazans are not being starved. Compare them to many sub-populations in Arab countries like Sudan and you will think that that is where weapons should go.
These are merely defensive weapons. No big deal. What they REALLY need for parity is to smuggle in some tanks and a few 80mm howitzers. Perhaps these will be given to them freely when good 'ol Mr. Mubarak finally fades away and the Muslim Brotherhood ascends to power in Egypt.
SDHD: The price of food is no problem in Gaza, the problem is how to get the food in the area. You can buy plenty of food for the price of an anti-aircraft missile but how to cross the border with your food? That is why the Gazans need those anti aircraft-missiles...
Frightening.
How much food can you buy for the price of an anti-aircraft missile?
